Location: Home is located near the northern edge of Stinson Beach. While within a mile of the beach, if you are older or have young kids with you, the walk will be pretty miserable. As two young 20s active adults, we found the walk to be okay but did have to pack light for the beach since carrying things (cooler, surf boards, etc) isn’t really an option. We ended up driving down half of the days. The hills are very very steep. The benefit of the location is that you are within 1/10th of a mile of a trailhead. There is also access to this trailhead from the parking lot at the beach.
Cleanliness: The floors in the house were very dirty. Be prepared to either wear socks 100% of the time to avoid dirty feet or wear shoes in and have sand in the house. It would probably help if the deck was power washed periodically by the property managers because it was also filthy.
Parking: If you have a small car there shouldn’t be an issue with parking but a full size SUV or larger will be a squeeze. In our case, the passenger had to exit the car before parking due to the spot being flush with the deck on the passenger side.
Be prepared to have some issues during your stay. The stand-up fan was broken upon arrival and the lights in the bathroom have a problem with flickering or not coming on. This is the largest sign of the unit’s age. Also, at one point during our stay the kitchen drop down faucet head came off and we had to stop the fountain of water shooting out and reattach the faucet head. None of these are huge issues, but it goes to show that the unit needs some attention.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay despite the quirks because we spent most of our time away from the unit at the beach or on the outdoor deck. Be wary that there are a lot of bees outside due to the flowers surrounding the deck so unless you enjoy sharing your plate with the bees, stick to eating inside (huge bummer for those warmer nights).
