This super cute cottage is exactly as described in the listing. Located in a secluded neighborhood, the views are amazing, the grounds are equally as lovely covered in flowers visited by lots of hummingbirds. Debra is the best host ever. We had coffee, fresh baked banana bread, and artisan toast every morning, served in the garden. Itâs such a peaceful setting , we could have easily stayed a week. Weâll definitely be back for a hiking trip.
This is my second stay at Debâs place in Mill Valley and any time I stay in Northern CA, I will pick this spot. First of all, Deb is a saint. Saint Deb. One of the kindest people youâll ever meet. The property is perfect. Super tranquil, no scent, and an absolutely amazing place to take in nature and just unplug. Youâll feel miles from anywhere, yet just a short walk or drive into town. This is my forever go to stop in Mill Valley.
The road is steep and narrow, like many Mill Valley roads. Parking area had enough space and easy to back out of. The terrace is private and has a nice view of the Valley and Mt Tamalpais. Birds are all around and we heard a great horned owl most evenings. There is no kitchen....we brought a hot plate and that worked great. The host did our dishes to help us out and not have food guck in the bathroom sink. At night it was quiet and restful. The wifi worked great. Plenty of hot water for showers. There is another vacation cabin around the corner of the house from the room. They have a separate patio and we never even saw those guests. If you look on Google maps and see the fire road nearby, access is not near by. It's a private road towards the fire road. The host knows the local hiking trails and was very helpful with directions. Can't say enough good about the hosts. Real nice people that helped when we needed it and left us alone otherwise.
I was looking for a place to stay outside of the city and I couldnât have asked for anything better! The property and surrounding area is beautiful and Debra was more than welcoming! Would stay again anytime :)
Beautiful property tucked up in the hills above town. Quiet, great views! Kind and generous hosts. If I try hard to complain, a power strip so that there were some freed up outlets near the bed would have been a plus. Thanks
Debra was so helpful in navigating the hiking trails as well as navigating the local places to eat. Serene location with beauty right out the door. My husband and I will most definitely be back to stay whenever business brings us to San Fransisco.
The place is in a beautiful location and the owner was incredibly nice and accommodating. The only negative aspect for me is cost. Stayed in hotel next two nights for less money and had the convenience of refrigerator, microwave, tv and enough outlets for devices.
Located on a high ridge overlooking Mill Valley, our host Debra provided a secluded, peaceful, and romantic setting for my wife and I to get away. As a seasoned trail guide, Debra was also able to give us recommendations for some great trails to take into Muir Woods and surrounding areas. So close to San Francisco, but a world away. Debra recommended a great Mexican place to eat, and a fish place in nearby Sausalito where we watched local fishermen bring in their catch. Can't wait to come back to this beautiful place!
Debra was lovely. The place was AMAZING, and it was perfect for our needs. We stayed a week while visiting our son who works in Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Read the description of this property carefully. The room we stayed in had its own entrance, but, you do not have the entire property to yourself. The room is attached to the host's house, and there it a small cottage on-site as well. That said, we always felt that we had all the privacy we needed, both inside and out.
There was no kitchen in the room, but there is a tea kettle and refrigerator. She offered a microwave if we needed one, and Debra kept us supplied with clean dishes and filtered water each day.
The drive up to the house is winding, steep and narrow, but the seclusion and views are worth it! It is walkable to downtown, but you need to be in good shape to make it back up!
We loved staying here, and look forward to coming back when we are in the area again.
Misleading profile that may or may not bother you.
There is NO PRIVACY in either of the 2 units listed here. The nice table shown in their pictures is off limits.
We were told that we only had access to a portion of a shared lawn. When we refused to stay in place with the very public outdoor porch area, they KEPT OUR CLEANING DEPOSIT and we didn't stay there.
It is bad enough to keep 2 days lodging (VRBO refunded their fee to us) but they crossed-the-line my keeping a cleaning deposit that was never used.
Just on principle, please don't stay here.

While the room filled its purpose, and the location and wildlife are absolutely stunning, we didn't exactly feel welcome, nor did we feel any sense of privacy. Both owners made sure to tell us upon entering the room that the carpet is wool and difficult to clean and that it's a scent-free zone (There's also a sign posted). We were asked to remove shoes upon entering (not a big deal) and to drink anything other than clear liquids OUTSIDE - so as not to stain the carpet. We were also asked to use the scent-free toiletries provided instead of anything we'd brought with us. I immediately felt like I was 10 and staying at Grandma's - not in a comforting way. Ultimately, we spent the time we weren't sleeping outside because we were afraid we'd dirty something in the room - I'm a 50+ year-old woman...I shouldn't feel this way on vacation. There just wasn't a very welcoming vibe.
Debra went above and beyond to make me feel like I was at home. Her beautiful heart was reflected to me from her constant kindness and attention to detail in making her space gorgeous in ever sense of the word. Highly recommend staying and taking advantage of the peace and quiet. Along with all the mountain hiking trails. Will always be staying here in the future.
Debra, the host, was very welcoming and gave us many ideas of things to do. She wrote out hikes for us to take and was very accommodating. The house is close to mt.tam and Muir woods and not too far from Napa. We had a great time and would come back again
Hosts Debra and William were very accommodating. The bed is very comfortable. The scenery around this studio is lovely. But the road up the hill is a very narrow windy one-lane roadâI found it frightening to drive on especially when another car or truck was coming from the other direction. Donât plan to drive up for the first time in the dark! Once you get used to the road itâs not so bad.
What a perfect getaway for a couple. The location was lovely in every way. Quiet, comfortable, serene, deer, birds, black squirrels, and that was all outside. The room itself had a very comfortable king size bed, desk, several chairs to relax in. The mountain air drifted the windows at night for the most restful sleep. The hosts were very accommodating and available. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you.
peaceful property. views for miles. 5 minute drive to sweetwater! hiking trails all around mill valley!
debra is knowledgable and sweet.
an all-around great place to relax.
Enjoyed the entire stay, as Debra and Willy were helpful , but not intrusive. Particualrly appreceiated provision of French press coffee each morning, toaster for my gluten free muffins and small fridge for salad fixings, wine and bkfst essentials (not easy to get up and out in the morning). Plenty to do within striking distance of Mill Valley to keep us busy all week. Check out new restaurant on water in Tiburon, Capris.-The Martins
This stay was everything that we envisioned and more. The property grounds were airy, well maintained and picturesque. Our unit was attached to the main house with a full bathroom. A mini-fridge was also available. While we did not have access to a kitchen, Debra gladly reheated our food and offered clean plates/glasses when needed.
Speaking of Debra, she was an absolutely phenomenal host. She offered hiking trail/beach suggestions, spoke to us about the history of the town, and was available for any of our inquiries. I normally prefer hosts that are out of sight, out of mind. However, she added a personal touch that made this property feel like home.
Debra offered excellent local hiking tips, and is a gracious host. This cozy spot allowed us a pleasing getaway close to all sorts of lovely trails, and an easy walk into Mill Valley for dinner. We had a really terrific time!
The property is absolutely stunning; great view of Mt Tam. Back yard space is so peaceful and quite...this may have been our favorite space during the entire vacation! Property is very clean & neat, and convenient to downtown Mill Valley, San Fran, Sausalito, etc. We had such a fantastic time here and Debra is the best host ever!! She was very genuinely concerned that everything was perfect for our visit. Great time and great memories here!
