Hundreds of acres of Forestry Commission woodland may be found in the nearby Hartland Forest, while Clovelly, a community known for its flower-adorned cottages and steep cobbled footpath that descends to the harbour from the 14th century, is only 5 miles distant. The National Trust's Heritage Coastline includes a large portion of the beachfront from Bideford to Bude and features breath-taking walks and stunning cliffs at Hartland Quay, which is only 6 miles distant. Surfing classes are offered in Bude, and Tamar Lakes has a water sports centre for anyone interested in other water sports.
