Rock away your cares and worries from the expansive front porch, while watching wildlife drink from the pond. Almost 40 acres of nature surrounds the cottage , with a natural spring, fishing pond, and views of beautiful East Texas. Spot deer, eagles, fox and more while enjoying the quiet and peaceful murmur of nature.
The cottage has a fully stocked kitchen, strong Wi-Fi with office space, outdoor smoker/grill, and a fire pit area by the stocked pond. Bring your fishing poles! There is very little light pollution at Hopewell Cottage, making it a wonderful place to do some stargazing (telescope provided) after watching one of East Texas’ gorgeous sunsets.
You’ll be within 2.5 miles of Cypress Springs Lake and 3 miles from Lake Bob Sandlin. Swim, ski, fish, kayak and more our beautiful lakes! You’re welcome to bring your boat/watercraft to the cottage if you plan on spending time at one of our beautiful lakes. I’ll be glad to recommend a fishing guide if you ask. Nearby Bob Sandlin State Park offers nature trails, hiking, and other adventures.
Both Mount Vernon and Winnsboro offer quaint charm with shopping and restaurants, plus Saturday morning Farmers Markets (seasonal). Wine and art festivals are frequent occurrences.
NOTE OF CAUTION: the loft area of the cottage is not suitable for very young children, the very elderly or infirm! The stairs to the loft are very steep and even the most fit need to use the bannisters. We recommend you descend backwards as if coming down a ladder. (See the pictures).
There is a personal storage closet in the home where we store cleaning supplies and stock replacement items. This closet is kept locked and is not accessible. There is also an outdoor shop that is locked and not accessible.

Please be advised there are 2 outdoor ring camera's. One in the front and one to the back of property facing outside. Do NOT tamper with security camera's.

A memorable place. Not just for it's guests, but for our hostess as well. Nice tranquil place to relax and get away. Pam is a most wonderful hostess. She made us feel as if we were more than a guest but her friends. Thank you ma'am. Hope to come back again just to get away from it all. Love your place and highly recommend it.

Beautiful East Texas cottage!

The cottage was absolutely perfect for our weekend of exploration in the lake country and piney woods and sweet towns around Mount Vernon and Mount Pleasant. It had every convenience and comfort and the front porch was heaven for morning coffee and bird watching and star viewing at night. The private setting was just what we needed and we so enjoyed the large meadow around to pond for walks.Thank you to our hosts for their East Texas welcome and attentiveness. We can't wait to come back. ps Our family especially loved the nespresso coffee maker and frother!

A little piece of Paradise !

Pamela is an exceptional host. We were greeted with fresh eggs and muffins. The cottage is exceptional. Very private, in the middle of the best that East Texas provides big skies, big trees, a fishing pond and fields of wildflowers. Very clean cottage, comfy bed, with a stocked kitchen of needed utensils, spices etc. I would recommend to everyone. Thank you Pamela for sharing your piece of Paradise with us.

Peaceful and Lovely Cottage in the Woods

A lovely cottage in the woods (40 acres) with only the sounds of birds, cows in the distance and fish jumping in the stocked pond and the laughter of my family! What a beautiful weekend we had here. My grandsons fished most the day with their Pops and Dad while I enjoyed wine on the front porch with my daughter. The owner was so sweet, met us and escorted us through the property to the cottage and left us with muffins and fresh hen eggs. WE WILL BOOK AGAIN! A rare find!l in East Texas!

Exceeded Expectations

This one was special. The design details of this place are incredible. It sits on 40 acres with a private pond full of fish. My daughter caught her first fish ever here... then outdid me with a 4lb bass. Big catfish and feisty perch. The dogs had the time of their life and the fire pit was awesome. 3 miles from the lake and very close to the major highway. The owners are so kind and accommodating. We had fresh eggs and homemade bread waiting for us. I've stayed many places, but this one I will visit twice a year. Very special experience.

I am a retired medical professional (Physician Assistant), mother of 2 beautiful daughters, and grandmother of 5 genius teenagers😉. My husband is a retired cattle rancher and veterinary medicine rep.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

My dad moved here from Louisiana in early 2016. He and I drew this cottage plan out on graph paper, and started building immediately. He moved in just 3 months later, in June of 2016. We incorporated things like the doors, sink, and tub from the home of his parents, which was built by his dad around 1930. The cottage was completed and dad moved in that June. Dad loved living his last years at what he called, in French, his Petite Paradise.

Privacy, quiet, peaceful retreat surrounded with 40 acres of nature and wildlife. Plenty of room for long walks and exploration along with natural springs, meadows, and a creek and woods.
Close to Cypress Springs Lake, Lake Bob Sandlin, and Bob Sandlin State Park. Fabulous restaurants and shopping in nearby Mount Vernon and Winnsboro!
