Welcome to Southern Comfort Punta Gorda Isles on the Rim canal where the first thing you will notice when you walk in is the openness of the home and the view of the water and Mangroves. One of the many things that makes this little slice of paradise unique is that you are on the water looking out at a huge mangrove – and not other homes. The home is located in a quiet neighborhood at the tip of the cul-de-sac. It is boat friendly for fishing, fun or sail boats. This is a premier tip lot on the famous Rim canal that hosts Punta Gorda's Christmas boat parade.
The home has been newly painted inside and out. All the flooring has been updated with Luxury vinyl tile and ceramic tile in the bathrooms. The Kitchen is a cooks dream with new black stainless appliances, an over-sized cooktop, and a microwave/convection oven. All cabinets have been newly painted. The granite countertop is abundant with plenty of room for several cooks to work in the area.
From the south facing covered lanai you can watch the sunrise and the sunset over the mangroves. You will be able to watch the dolphin chase fish while sipping your coffee and watch the Manatee drift through the wide water while floating in the pool or lounging on the lanai. You will also see many Florida birds fishing, preening, and napping in the water and the mangroves.
The newly remodeled en-suite has a verdant garden view including palm trees, Hibiscus and Bougainvillea, along with a variety of other new plantings. The attached bath is also new and has light finishes with a touch of nature.
The second bedroom features a queen bed with a view to the pool and the canal on one side and the mangroves on the other.
The second and third bedrooms share another newly remodeled bathroom that also has access to the pool.
The third bedroom has a set of twin beds and a relaxing spot to sit and look at the canal, read a book, or just relax.
From this home you will be able to get to Charlotte Harbor through the Ponce Inlet or the Alligator Alley inlet. The home is just about halfway between them. From here you can also take a short boat ride up to The Riviera Bar and Grill, or over to The Fisherman's village for some dining, shopping or people watching.
Hmmm...what else should I do?
If you want a water sunset...
Ponce De Leon is a short drive. You can take the beach chairs and set them up in the newly refurbished beach area to watch the sunset on the harbor.
If you want to see the birds of Florida...
Go to the Peace River Wildlife Center in Ponce De Leon Park. Here you can see how Florida birds are rescued, rehabilitated, and released back in to the wild.
If you want to go for a nature walk...
Visit the 21-acre Nature and wildlife trail, a few blocks away, on the corner of Aqui Esta and Bal Harbor. It has graveled pathways where you can watch butterflies and birds and has an interactive trail highlighting the naturally occurring wetlands, uplands, and vegetation typical of pre-subdivided Punta Gorda.
If you want to dine, shop and people watch...
Head on over to The Fisherman's Village, a famous little spot with lots of shopping, dining, and a tiki bar. From Fisherman's Village you can book a trip up the Peace River, to watch a harbor sunset and many other fun adventures.
If you want some fresh produce and locally hand made goods and crafts...
Downtown Punta Gorda on Saturday mornings has just what you need. This farmers' market has been voted “Best Small Market” in Florida and the 15th best in the U.S! A must when you are here.
What about pickleball...
So many choices! Gilchrest Park (free), South County Regional Park (free) and the Pickle Plex (fee) are just a few.
How about just a nice stroll...
The Harbor walk is an absolute must! It is a 2 ½ mile walk along Charlotte Harbor/The Peace River. It starts close to the Fisherman's Village and goes all the way past Laishley Park. Along the walk you will pass Gilchrest Park, Welcome Beach, and Hurricane Charlies. You will see an old, beautiful Banyan tree and hear music playing. You will feel the water breeze and have numerous opportunities to take pictures that you will look back over and remember the wonderful time you spent in Punta Gorda.
