We are two very active folks in our 70s who like somewhat remote places yet still have basic comforts. We were able to kayak 4 out of our 7 days thanks to good weather. Twice from the launch site at cabin and twice at other launch sites. The kitchen was absolutely the most well-equipped we have in our many VRBOs. Even a collander, which is usualy missing. Robert, our host, was almost instantly available to us via phone/text if we had any questions. We found short trips into Matthews and Gloucester easy to do and while we generally cook in, there were decent restaurants between those two towns. Although we brought out bikes, we did not use them as all the roads, while in good shape, are very narrow and without shoulders making it somewhat risky. Checking in was simple as was departure. Were there bugs? Of course, it's summer, on the water and around salt water marshes, but we had only twice when we had to use repellent. There are marsh crabs (one inch long) that inhabit many surfaces outside the cabin, but quickly run away as you walk the dock and deck. Water pressure is low, but that's not a big deal. It works.
