Summary:
Currumbin Cottage is a cosy and rustic one bedroom cottage, making it a great getaway for couples! The property is furnished with an eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture and art works, giving it a comfortable, quirky and relaxed feel. Located in a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of a beautiful rainforest gully you'll have easy access to the beach and cafes (15-min walk or 3-min drive).
The Space:
Currumbin Cottage is open plan, with a light and airy feeling. There is a garden at the front, as well as a large private garden at the back on 2 levels. The cottage is built on the side of a tree-covered hill. It is very close to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, so there are always beautiful birds flying through the garden on their way to and from the sanctuary, as well as other wildlife like water dragons, geckos and bush turkeys.
LOUNGE / DINING / KITCHEN:
There is a large open plan lounge / dining / kitchen. The lounge area features a comfortable sofa and 2 arm chairs, perfect for lounging around, reading, listening to music, watching DVDs and relaxing.
The sofa folds out into a double bed, allowing up to 4 people to stay at any time.
The lounge area has windows on 3 sides, with a wall of floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the rear garden, and a sliding door opening to a wooden deck that runs the length of the house, with steps down to the garden.
The dining area features a large antique pine table with 4 chairs, and a beautiful pine display cabinet.
The kitchen is fitted out with all your dining and cooking needs, and includes a microwave, stove, fridge, coffee plunger / cafetiere and so on.
BEDROOM:
The bedroom features a comfortable queen size bed. There is also a dressing table and chair, and a wardrobe.
The bedroom also features a wall of floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the garden, with a sliding door that leads to the rear deck.
BATHROOM:
The bathroom is located next to the bedroom. It features a bath with shower, toilet and vanity.
DECK:
The rear deck runs the length of the house, and is high set so it sits overlooking a beautiful gully. The deck includes comfortable chairs for relaxing with a book, a coffee or a glass of wine. There is also a small dining table and chairs for al-fresco dining.
THE GARDEN:
There are stairs from the rear deck down into the rear garden, which has a huge number of trees and plants, like a private rainforest.
THE LAUNDRY:
There is no washing machine provided. There is a laundromat 5 minutes drive away. A covered area is available for drying your clothes.
PARKING:
Currumbin Cottage has a garage, or you can park in the driveway at the front of the house. The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac so there is no through traffic.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the entire property - enjoy!
The Neighborhood:
Stay at home and lounge on the deck with a glass of wine, curl up on the sofa with a good book, laze in the sun on Currumbin Beach, or the more secluded South Beach or Flat Rock (between Currumbin and Tugun). Currumbin Cottage is also only a 10 to 15 minute walk to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Currumbin Beach also has several great beach front cafes open for breakfast and lunch, and there are numerous local restaurants.
Other things to do in the local area include:
*Surfing at the world famous “The Alley”
*Walks along Currumbin Creek
*Hire a kayak or go fishing on the creek
*Walk along Flat Rock Creek through a lovely park to the beach
If you feel like going a bit further afield, try:
*Taking a scenic drive to the Currumbin Valley, or do a round trip through Tomewin and over the mountains to Murwillumbah (about 30 km away)
*Swimming in the natural rock pools or take a walk through the rainforest in the National Park at the end of Currumbin Creek Road (about 20km)
*Drive north to Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Main Beach (about 30km), or head south to Coolangatta, Kingscliff and Salt (about 20km)
Go shopping at Pacific Fair or Robina (about 15 to 20 km)
*Drive to Robina or Varsity and catch the train to Brisbane (about 1.5 hourS each way on the train)
Getting Around:
There is a bus stop about 15 minutes walk from the house. Buses run regularly up and down the Gold Coast to Coolangatta, Burleigh Heads, Broadbeach, Surfer's Paradise and to Varsity for the train to Brisbane.
