Our family has a long history of love and tradition. Happy Hollow was originally a family-owned distillery, located in Loretto, Kentucky. It was a beautiful place full of happy memories. You may know it now as the popular Maker’s Mark Distillery. My grandmother was born in the house on the hill at the distillery. The hill is fittingly named “star hill”, as my grandmother was also the star of our family.
My grandmother bore nine wonderful children. The family was very close knit, as they had to work hard together through the loss of my grandfather at the young age of 44. Three of these siblings (my father being one) started a camping tradition where they brought their families to Dale Hollow Lake every year for a week. The memories, the fun, and the traditions built during these camping trips are priceless. As my cousins and I grew older and had our own children, we decided to continue the tradition our parents started. We have continued to share this love of Dale Hollow with our children ever since.
This home is here for us to share and carry on the love and traditions. We named this home “Happy Hollow Hide Away” to honor the beginnings that started with my grandmother in Loretto, KY. Please enjoy the variety of photographs spanning the decades of making memories here at Dale Hollow Lake. We sincerely hope you create happy memories, too.
