Warm and Welcoming Get Away

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was very central to all the happenings in the city, but without all the traffic. The house had a very warm and welcoming, feel to it. Anything you could think of was available. We would happily stay there again.

You and your guests are in good hands at the KC Dogwood House. Why? Sure…my real estate license goes back to 1988(!) and I have been engaged in the field in one form or another ever sense. Yes, I’m a grandmother, a mom, and a daughter so I know how to provide for the well-being of people of all ages. Sure, I ran my own business—a non-profit whose very existence depended upon the delivery of excellent service to the community. But even so, I’d argue there’s one thing that gives me an extra boost in providing outstanding guest stays each and every time. I’m a fellow traveler.

I’ve traversed 5 continents by car, bus, train, plane, and foot. I sailed the Atlantic Ocean FOR 6 YEARS on a small sloop with my husband and cat and this led me to publish a popular memoir about my time at sea, entitled: Ocean of Insight. But perhaps my most relevant experience comes from the 14 months I spent "VRBO skipping" during an intensive Book Tour--from Vancouver to Miami, Boston to San Diego and many points in between. It was 'VRBO boot camp!'

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

✿The KC Dogwood House✿ is tucked away on a corner lot of a quiet street in the Volker Neighborhood--close to everything yet private and removed from traffic. There is a Fire Station is about 3 blocks away so you may hear a siren occasionally. City crime statistics indicate this is one of the safest urban neighborhoods in KC (and the crime rate continues to trend down). Nearby, vibrant small businesses line both 39th Street West and Westport Road.

The home is surrounded by great neighbors and I ask all my guests to respect their privacy and property.

✿The KC Dogwood House✿ is a block from the Westport Neighborhood known for its blend of tasty eateries, trendy boutiques and popular nighttime hot spots. By day Westport buzzes with residents and tourists, but it really comes to life a night as the restaurants and bars fill up.

Some History. Did you know ‘West Port’ pre-dates Kansas City? Back in the day it was the western most village before venturing into the Kansas Territory! Fur trappers and farmers traded goods with Native Americans and wagon trains of pioneer families stocked up for the arduous journey west via the California, Oregon and Santa Fe trails. Years later, Union and Confederate soldiers clashed in 'The Battle of West Port,' a conflict that essentially ended the Civil War in the western states. But the battle was so brutal that trade in West Port ended. In 1890, 'Westport' was annexed by Kansas City.
