Summary:
Views, views, views! On a clear day you can see all the way across the Bay and up to San Francisco. The sweeping vistas are thanks to being on a hill in the Woodside neighborhood aptly named "Emerald Hills." Inside the unit you can enjoy the view through several of the windows. The queen-sized bed is warm and comfy, the easy chair will help relax you, and the kitchenette awaits you! It has a fridge, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, single-burner tabletop induction stove, and kitchenware.
The Space:
Note that the County of San Mateo requires us to collect a 10% hotel tax, which we remit to the county. For more details, you can search online for "San Mateo county hotel tax"
This unit is attached to a home on a hill in Emerald Hills, a neighborhood in Woodside / Redwood City. There are 40 steps leading from the parking area down to the entrance. While the owners live upstairs, you'll rarely hear them because of the way the house was designed. Also note that the kitchenette has a single-burner tabletop induction burner for cooking, and there is no oven or dishwasher.
The TV has a Roku device through which you can log in to your Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Disney+ etc. accounts -- be sure to log out before leaving! We also offer SlingTV for basic cable access via our own account -- you won't need your own SlingTV account to access it.
The views are just incredible!
Guest Access:
You have exclusive access to the unit. You share the laundry room with the other guest unit and with the owner, who lives upstairs.
The Neighborhood:
The Emerald Hills neighborhood is characterized by narrow, winding roads and an almost rural feel. The homes vary from half-century-old ramblers to modern McMansions, but regardless of the style, nearly all are built on sleep slopes and have strikingly tall supporting beams and large decks.
Getting Around:
There is no nearby bus service, and the roads are narrow, steep, and winding, so you'll get quite the workout biking or walking. You'll need a car, or Uber/Lyft, to get around. Note that Uber/Lyft can often take 15 minutes to arrive.
Other Things to Note:
This studio is attached to a home on a steep hill, and there are 40 steps leading from the parking area down to the entrance, so it may not be suitable for everyone. If you're fine with the stairs, the views alone are worth it!
Also, note that the studio has a *kitchenette*, not a full kitchen. It has a single-burner tabletop induction hot plate instead of a stove, and there is no oven or dishwasher. While you can cook great meals using the hot plate and the microwave, the kitchenette is not really equipped for making three-course gourmet meals.
Interaction with Guests:
Though the owner lives upstairs, you have complete privacy. The property manager, Kevin, is always available.
