One of the benefits of staying at the Retreats is your close access to the amenities of South Water Manor. Bistro 562 and Coffee House opens at 8:00 Tuesday through Friday, and brews up the best coffee in town. The homemade biscuits are fresh each morning, and whether you're a biscuits and gravy kind of person, or lean more toward avocado toast and oatmeal, our scratch kitchen will leave you feeling satisfied. Lunch begins at 11 and features burgers, soups, salads, and sandwiches with a host of house made sauces, dressings, and desserts. South Water Manor is also home to over 40 local artisan vendors, featuring locally made products such as pottery, hand turned wooden bowls, hand poured candles, stationary, body care and more. Black Sheep Boutique, a womens clothing boutique, and home decor shop are also located inside.
The grounds of South Water Manor are expansive, covering more than two acres and boasting several beautiful and historic trees. While there is public outdoor dining in front of the Manor, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy their own exclusive outdoor commons area under the pergola. Gallatin sits only a short drive from Nashville and allows guests to enjoy the vigor and vitality of the city, but also the shops, historic sites, and outdoor amenities that Gallatin has to offer. Minutes from Old Hickory Lake, boating, kayaking, and beautiful sunsets are part of the culture.
Steeped in history and surrounded with character, these two independent guesthouses were originally designed and built in the 1860s, one as servants quarters and the other as a summer kitchen for the beautiful FitzGerald Manor. Fast forward 160 years to see that the FitzGerald Manor has changed hands four times, and is now home to South Water Manor, an artisan marketplace, venue, bistro, and coffee shop, and the perfect destination for your next getaway!
