Private home perfect for families, located right on Shumont Lake with private lake access & your own dock. (Also close to Lake Lure.) It's only a short drive over to Rumbling Bald for golf & amenities and access to Lake Lure. In under 45 minutes, you can be in downtown Asheville, and in less than 10 minutes, in the towns of Lake Lure & Chimney Rock. You are also app. 40 minutes from Asheville Regional Airport. The home is accessed via only paved and fully maintained roads, right up to the spacious driveway with plenty of parking.

Come soak in all that Woodland Retreat has to offer, including a modern fully-equipped home, lakeside dock, expansive decks, hot tub, fire-pit, gas fireplaces, internet, plentiful outdoor space as well as close proximity to the town of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Rumbling Bald, and more. Sit on your back deck, relax and sip coffee as you take in the astounding views, along with wildlife viewing from your private lakeside deck and outdoor areas. This custom-built home is available year-round and is great for groups of all ages. The home offers so much, nestled in between tall pines and leafy Poplar trees, while still close to everything in and around Lake Lure. The common living areas, as well as the bedrooms, have outdoor private deck access to relax and capture the fresh air breezing through the WNC mountains. Lake Lure is a picturesque vacation community, boasting “small-town friendly” residents who are very welcoming to guests, and Shumont Lake is a private little lake amidst it all.

Lake Lure has so much to offer guests, from swimming, kayaking, boating, and hiking, to walking trails, streams, and much more. You also have access to the amenities and such at Rumbling Bald Resort. While at Woodland Retreat, everyone enjoys all that the home has to offer, from the Great Room with gas fireplace, the open concept kitchen, and of course, the spectacular outdoor spaces, where you can pull up a chair and take in the "sound of silence", observe the night as it fills with stars, and watch the fireflies come out to play in your backyard and on the lake. You have your own dock to launch the canoe!

You are also just a short drive from America's favorite scenic byway, the Blue Ridge Parkway, where you can enjoy motorcycle touring, biking, hiking, white water rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, zip-lining, and Segway tours. Or, take a ride to downtown Asheville or Hendersonville to enjoy the first-rate restaurants, locally brewed craft beers, shopping, galleries, spas, and entertainment.

Our Cleaning Fees are backed by our Clean Guarantee, which reflects the highest level of standards, pristine environments for our guests, and a level of clean that surpasses any other vacation homes; we literally guarantee it!

Early Check In and/or Late Check Out may be possible, depending on cleaning schedules and other reservations. If it is possible, there may be an additional fee that would be determined based on the time that you wish to check in or out and the seasonal rates.

Home Truth: Lake Lure will be undergoing a drawdown starting January 1st, 2024 through the first quarter of 2024(March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet has been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season.

Pets: This home and property are very dog friendly, and guests are welcome to bring their "best friends" with them. There is a non-refundable Pet Fee of $125 with a limit of 2 dogs per booking party.
