The open and airy new modern farmhouse sleeps 8 with 4 bedrooms and 3 ½ baths, and the well-equipped, large, modern kitchen has everything you need for cooking meals in. There’s a cozy gas fireplace in the living room and a ping pong table, games, toys, and a smart TV in the lounge area downstairs. Take advantage of our small library of books, DVDs, and CDs. (Please note that satellite internet is available but the quality is not guaranteed.) Enjoy grilling on the wrap-around porch, which has a comfy seating area and an outdoor dining table. The home is steps away from Lake Sheila, which is a beautiful, quiet, private lake suitable for swimming, fishing (no license required), and paddling. When you walk out the back door, there’s a path down to a dock with lounge chairs where you can enjoy the view. The home includes access to an adult and child’s paddleboards, a paddle boat and kayak, plus PFDs. On the way down to the lake, there’s a fire pit which is perfect for family gatherings in the evenings. There is also a small beach with 2 docks and picnic tables available to guests just a 10-minute walk from the house.
Saluda has a cute downtown with several restaurants, shops, general stores, and galleries. Grab breakfast and coffee at Wakey Monkey Cafe, lunch at Green River Barbeque, and dinner at the Purple Onion, where you might catch a live bluegrass show. Stock up on gourmet groceries and local products at the Historic Thompson’s Store. Plan outdoor adventures and buy needed gear at Saluda Outfitters. Pamper yourself in nearby Flat Rock, where you can get your hair or nails done, or enjoy a massage if you’re looking to unwind. Spend a day with family and friends in the treetops on a zipline adventure, on the water with guided raft tours of the Green River, and on local trails hiking to nearby overlooks and waterfalls. Visit the Tryon Equestrian Center for dining, shopping, and horse shows. Or, stay close to home enjoying the lake or sipping hot chocolate and playing games by the fire. If cycling is something you enjoy, the roads around Saluda are commonly used for races and training. The lake house is also conveniently located within an hour from Asheville, Hendersonville, Tryon, and Greenville, each of which have a thriving downtown scene with excellent dining and arts.
