Big house - we had 17 people, not crowded. Lots of games in the basement: shuffleboard, foosball, ping-pong, pool ... Lake access is very good, although it's a little hike down the hill.
Overall this is a good place, but definitely has some issues. We had trouble with a toilet and the dishwashers. Management response was quick and helpful. It's a nice location on the lake and is close to the grocery and some breweries.
Large home with comfortable beds, nice dock and space.
Improvement of outdoor furniture and swing set noted from last year. Many repairs were needed through out the week. Needs equipped for a large group regarding kitchen items
The property looks nice and is very functional for a large group. Thats the end of anything positive. We arrived and the 15 of us started using bathrooms
Already filled out the report and once again you people just keep on sending emails and texts. Dirty dishes broken appliances cobwebs I could go on and on.
The house is beautiful, spacious (we joked that we needed ground transportation just to get from one side of the kitchen to the other), and relatively clean; it is not beat up or abused. It worked well for our extended family with 12 adults and 11 kids (ages 5 to 16). Furniture and beds are in good shape and inviting. The game room was well received by kids and adults, including some legacy video games! The deck is expansive and a great hangout especially in the mornings (morning sun before the temps get too hot) and evenings (before it gets too buggy out, but after the sun has dipped behind the house), with two nice gas grills and ample soft seating. The hot tub was clean and nice. The dock is really a great place to hang out (sun and shade areas available with ample seating and tables), the water is deep enough for kids to have fun but still be able to touch, and the bottom is not all slimy (bring water shoes as the rocks can be a little hard on bare feet). There's a private boat launch labeled for the "community owners and guests" immediately adjacent to the Great Escape property (inquire in advance about access since it's locked). The house is located very close to a Food Lion and multiple restaurants.
Overall, a good place for family get together. Still needs attention to seriously overgrown foliage blocking the view of the lake from the deck, as well as inadequate hand railings on the steps from the deck to the yard. These items have been reported after prior stays in previous years.
We had a great trip to the Great Escape at Lake Anna this winter for new years! 5 couples and the accompanying army of children all had plenty to do with the amenities and toys and space to roam. Love it and hope to return in the future!
Our large extended family enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean and roomy. Some minor problems with uncomfortable furniture and broken patio furniture didn't keep us from having a great time. The house is well-located on the lake, with plenty of smooth water for boating and skiing. A grocery store is 5 minutes away. The advertised small beach is really a sand box, but that was okay. We have booked for next summer.
This home is very well laid out for a large number of people. The kitchen is fantastic! Many games (such as ping pong, etc) and huge deck with great views! The home shows a tad bit of wear from renting, but nothing to keep you from wanting to rent this place. Really great for large number of people.
This was a large house located directly on the lake. Check-in process was easy, the house was clean, and, The cleanup steps to check out were minimal.
It does look like the bedroom configuration was a little different than what we expected - with only two bedrooms in the basement, three on the main floor, and four bedrooms on the upper level. Still a total of nine bedrooms, so it all worked out fine.
All in all, this was a good house to rent for a large family lake trip.
The kitchen was great for 9 people. Comfortable furnishings. Close to a cidery and wineries. Beautiful view. The WiFi was not accessible, only the TV in the large room would work and several light bulbs were out. I offer these observations for improvements. Overall it was lovely and worth a visit if you are looking to go to Lake Anna.
We had our family reunion at The Great Escape. Beautiful home, plenty of room for everyone.
A couple of suggestions:
Pressure wash the exterior, the mildew is not attractive. Perform maintenance on the bathrooms. Some toilets were non functional. It's an expensive rental and our group expected better.
We had a wonderful time at Lake Anna. The property was perfect for our large family of 15 adults and 2 children. There was plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable and the children loved playing pool, basketball and ping pong along with games and puzzles. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed to prepare dinners for 17 people. Having 2 dishwashers was incredible! Due to the beautiful fall weather, we were able to relax around the gorgeous fire pit and view of the lake. The location is close to many activities and outdoor activities. We loved the house and location.
We enjoyed our stay. The layout is great for little children. I do think it should be a little cleaner and it sure would be nice if there would be more tea towels and dishrags. 1 dish rag and 2 towels doesnât cut it for doing a lot of cooking all weekend. Also the bath towels and wash cloths. We had 3 sets total in our room for my husband and I for staying 3 nights. We donât mind reusing our towels but a wash cloth??? Thankfully we could do laundry. Despite all that we still enjoyed our stay and hopefully these tips will get some response.
Would definitely recommend!! We had 8 staff members at the house for a retreat. Everyone had their own room, plenty of space (indoors and outside)for meetings and activities. Internet connection was good for conferencing and streaming.
The house is lose to some nice local restaurants for dinner, and a grocery store for anything we needed. It was a great kitchen for us to prepare our own breakfasts and lunches. I have never stayed in a VRBO that had so much of the little stuffâŠtrash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, spices etc. Having two large fridges and two dishwashers was helpful.
We enjoyed the kayaks, fire pit, ping pong, pool table, foosball and large screen in the living room. Vacasaâs local staff was attentive and had the coffee pot replaced within an hour when we noticed a crack in the carafe.
We enjoyed being all together in this beautiful, spacious house! The double fridges were awesome and we had some great meals together! The house was decently stocked, but disorganized. We were also frustrated by lots of broken furniture, all the games in the game room were broken or missing pieces (that was a big reason we booked this house) and the house was not completely clean when we arrived. Their communication was excellent, tho, lots of texts to be sure we were satisfied and they were quick to respond. We were missing a complete coffee pot and they brought a new one right over. Even though we were disappointed in the state of the house, we are thankful for the spacious accommodations and that we could all be together!
Home was nice and spacious but desperately needed some upgrades to beds and other furniture. A window was left opened and we entered the house full of bugs. The community boat ramp was locked and wasnât provided a key. There were hundreds of cigarette butts at entrance of home. We had to contact maintenance first day to repair toilets, the water was brown and we had to buy water for drinking and cooking..some of the blinds were broken and couldnât let them down fully. Pots n pans were horribly out dated, luckily we brought a few of our own. The walk to the lake from house was torture from all the mosquitoes.
