Each and every space has been carefully thought out to bring you joy, comfort, and an elevated experience. From the upgraded bed mattresses and linens to the ultra soft plush towels provided, we have your coziness and comfort top of mind. This 3-bed, 2-bath home is located in the heart of Mentone. A sidewalk is just across the street for walking to the adorable Mentone village. If you love spending time in our gorgeous eclectic town, but don't want to spend time driving in the car to get there, this is the perfect place for you. Settle in to our 1,100 sq ft quaint and cozy cottage, complete with a newly renovated kitchen, new bathroom, and authentic eclectic décor. Explore Desoto Falls, Downtown, or the National Preserve then come back to recharge at our refuge for the soul.

Great visit to Mentone. The Mountain Shanty was perfect for our stay. DeSoto Park was great. Most stores in Mentone were not open until Thursday but had no problem entertaining ourselves at the state park.

Charming cottage in great location

This 3BR house is quaint in a good way. It has plenty of personal touches with updated kitchen and baths. Location is convenient to everything we wanted to see and do.

Great girls trip

This was the perfect spot for a girls trip. Bedrooms were spacious and the decor was perfect. The kitchen was well stocked and perfect for our needs. Bathrooms were cleaned and stocked well too. Overall a great destination and we look forward to staying again.

We had a pleasant, relaxing, long anniversary weekend! I would recommend this place for anyone that just wants a getaway but still be close enough to the necessities and fun, outdoor activities!

Great spot in town!

Beautiful home, even bigger in person, pics don’t do it justice. Wish there was a fire pit but otherwise great spot right in middle of town of Mentone. Host is very responsive & helpful.

The Shanty is great!

We loved the Mentone Mountain Shanty! The cottage is so very comfortable and cozy! It was perfect for the two of us. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable! The kitchen and dining area are huge. And it’s convenient to the town of Mentone. We highly recommend it!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean, cozy and very comfortable. The location was great and within easy walking distance to the shops, and a short drive or nice walk to a spectacular overlook at Brown Park.

Cozy Cottage

My family and I stayed at this cottage for a family vacation. The house was clean and newly renovated. New decor and bedding. All beds were extremely comfortable. The host was easy to communicate with!The website does list the home as “no pets allowed” and the owner actually does allow pets. Also, the house is next to a busy road with lots of road noise but other than that… we really enjoyed our stay! Would recommend!

Vintage mentone getaway

Cute cottage just seconds from downtown on same road. Cute and cozy but updated! Strong water pressure in shower!!! Comfy screened in porch to drink my coffee and read the Bible every morning. Washer and dryer leads to back porch where we saw deer and other wildlife. Comfortable stay and easy host to communicate with. Thank you for hosting! Jane

Last Minute Getaway

After a Chattanooga vrbo rental cancelled on us, we had a week to book a new property. We chose Mentone, and we couldn't have been more pleased! This house gets high marks for the comfort of the mattresses and linens as well as the lighting -- we were crafting/scrapbooking, and good lighting is a must! We also did some digital scrapbooking, and the internet was speedy and reliable. (Verizon cell coverage was spotty!) We really enjoyed the artsy splashes in this house and the overall comfort. There was some road noise, but we were so snug and happy it didn't bother us. There's so much charm and nature in this area, we are already planning a return trip...and we've got no reason to shop for any other house! Yay!

The unit was clean and comfortable enough, but I found it lacking in the following areas:

1 There was no toaster. I bought one and left it for you. 2 The ceiling fan in the front most bedroom shook violently and made loud noises when it ran making it unusable. 3 The ceiling fan in the rearmost bedroom would not run at all. I also left some coffee filters for the next group that might want to have their breakfast in the unit. More care should be given to checking the proper operation of the equipment in this unit before renting it. in the future.

A Soul Refuge Indeed!

This was my first time to Mentone. I was looking for a solo retreat to recharge. It was a last minute booking and the owner was so quick to reply, very thorough and reassured me it was a perfect place to land. Google Maps brought we right to the property with ease. The check in process was seamless - a simple code to let myself in. I walked in and it was like a breath of fresh air. Hanging on the wall was a sign that said Mentone Mountain Shanty - A soul's refuge. I knew I was in the right place! The house was decorated so cute and it was extremely clean with a light, airy feeling all around. I absolutely loved the kitchen and the natural light in this room. My biggest issue was trying to decide which of the beautiful rooms to sleep in! I loved the cottage's eclectic style. You could tell the owner's truly wanted you to feel at home. I loved the little hidden touches of love in each room - like the affirmation cards in the bathroom. The house is a 10 min walk from downtown. There is a sidewalk across the street that takes you right to the downtown - lots of shops. The Mentone Market was a great stopping point! I also took a 10 min drive to Desoto Falls - all of the which the owner helped me coordinate. I will definitely be back! Thank you Shanty for holding me in a time I really needed it the most. Much love!

House was clean. Host was very responsive. Wi-fi worked great. Could have used more information/instruction on how the TV’s worked. There were some things that we acknowledged to the owner that we felt could be improved upon.

Thoughtfully decorated with a mix of vintage touches and artistic flair, it felt like a little hideaway full of personality. Every corner had something interesting to look at, and it was clear the hosts put care into making the space both comfortable and memorable.The outdoor space was another highlight—great for morning coffee, evening wine, or just soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. The property was clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway.If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind stay with easy access to all the best of Mentone, this cottage is a fantastic choice. Nice weekend trip

We had a wonderful weekend exploring Mentone and Ft Payne. Not a whole lot to do but the DeSoto state park and waterfalls were close by and a few little shops . Not much to eat in the area . Everything closed between lunch and dinner so only specific times to eat out but it was a nice scenic drive to just explore and take a nice ride around . The cottage was very easy to find .
