Relax and reconnect to nature in this large, wonderfully private, and peaceful property overlooking the Shoalhaven River. With five bedrooms featuring a mix of queen and king single beds, three bathrooms, plenty of couches, two dining tables, a sparkling in-ground pool, and a huge backyard, there’s space for the whole family to spread out and relax, however they choose.

Strikingly decorated with features including a rock garden at the entrance and a claw foot tub in the bathroom, this well-appointed property has everything you need to enjoy a quick break or a longer stay. The practicalities of day-to-day life with a large group are covered, starting with the morning’s must-have coffee on the deck, through to the ducted air conditioning and ceiling fans. When the evenings cool down, you’ll appreciate being able to cosy up on the couch around the fireplace and watch a movie on Netflix – or if you’d rather go tech-free, you can play board games with the kids.

Start each day with a dip in the sparkling blue waters of your very own pool, then read a book on the sun lounge, as the kids burn off their energy on the play equipment. The large backyard has plenty of lawns for the kids and the dog to play, but is beautifully bordered by trees, making it feel private and secluded. With the magnificent vista of the river so close by, you’ll feel instantly calm as you gaze out the windows.

With plenty of parking space you can bring the boat and spend your days exploring the waterways, or just enjoy walking among nature on the well-graded bushwalks. It couldn’t be easier to fill your days with activities for the whole family, with Shoalhaven Zoo just a couple of minutes away by car. Go on a tree-top adventure, take in a round of golf, or just kick back and enjoy a drink at the local – whatever you choose, you’ll quickly feel at home at Island Retreat.

- A card surcharge is levied on each payment. It's important to note that since this fee is associated with the bank, it won't be reimbursed in the event of cancellation.
- Please note that we supply a number of basic pantry items at each property. We are, however, unable to guarantee the availability of all pantry items. 3 toilet rolls are supplied per bathroom. You may wish to bring additional supplies with you.
- Internet in regional areas can be inconsistent and uninterrupted supply is not guaranteed. We will not provide compensation for failure or unexpected unavailability of internet services.
- Whilst the majority of properties provide access to streaming services, guests may be required to log in via their own accounts.
- Fencing: The property is unfenced. Children and pets will need to be actively supervised.
- The property has air conditioning in the living areas and 3 bedrooms.
- Please note that firewood is only supplied from May to September.
- For your security and safety this property has an active Cctv camera at each corner of the property externally facing outwards. They will be on during your stay.
- This is a families only property and only permits a combination of adults and kids up to the maximum capacity. No groups of adults are permitted unless an intergenerational family group. Please specify this if booking more than 8 adults.
- We welcome responsible guests that will not cause disturbance to our neighbours.
- For our pet friendly properties, pets are welcome inside but not on furniture or beds.
- After booking you sign a rental agreement. Please contact us prior to booking if you'd like to view a copy.
- No schoolies, parties, bucks or hens groups are permitted.
- We reserve the right to request photographic proof of id such as driver’s license or passport.
- We use smart home technology to improve your experience. NoiseAware is a smart home device that measures volume levels throughout the property (it does not record speech) and allows us to respond to noise issues. Nice house stay if maintained thoroughly.

House was a good size for what we required. Plenty of space to relax. Pool was good once we cleaned it. It was pretty dirty. We were unable to use the grass area as the grass was overgrown and needed mowing. Overall cleanliness was ok. Just the ovens and bbq needed a really thorough clean. Main issue was the damp smell of the lower ground floor. Carpet may have been wet and not dried??

Mice Infestations and Safety Concerns

Snippet of the review left on Professional Holiday Homes Google Reviews, search it to find evidence of photos - Professional Holiday Homes checkin details were not correct. The house has many missing utensils and features such as the games mentioned. The oven had foil covering trays to hide the uncleaned mess and the glass is extremely dirty with marks from previous use. There were many issues regarding safety. The biggest was hygiene and bathroom tub wobbling. It would cause water to flood the bathroom tiles. Mice was also an added bonus. Previous reviews of the place reveal they were aware of mice infestation and did not get pest control involved. They ignored previous tenants. When it came to extending before we saw the property in person they replied right away but when asking where the additional linen for the sofa bed was they went radio silent. The property is not a 12 person stay. The sofa bed is not for 2 people. It is a futon bed and does not stay upright and is a hazard. The weight of a child made it fall onto the ground. The only positive was the pool which was heated and had a variety of pool floaties. There was mismatch of window frames and broken door knobs to missing kitchen supplies. Either they did not properly inspect the property or previous tenants have been stealing resources and utensils. The floor also was not cleaned as we wiped a spill and it was completely covered in black dirty. Mouldy Carpet evident in dark patches and dehumidifiers was prevalent.

Island Retreat

The home has a lot of potential. It is relatively clean and well-equipped. We couldn’t find any of the bush walks around the property as the grounds were quite overgrown. Unfortunately the pool had a thick covering of leaves on the bottom so we only stood on the step rather than swimming in it as we had planned. The agent was very responsive and rectified a couple of day one issues in a timely manner.

As such we limit our communications to a few important emails, but otherwise we will leave you alone! If you are looking for a host that provides welcome platters on arrival, champagne in the fridge and who will contact you throughout your stay, we may not be the right host for you.

What you will get from us are well equipped, fairly priced, pet and family friendly holiday homes that are loved by their owners.

We work in a people business and very infrequently things go wrong - if this happens we will do our best to rectify the situation immediately. In busy periods it may take us a few hours to get to messages so picking up the phone is the fastest and best way for us to provide you with the support you need in an urgent situation.

As we are a licensed real estate agent you can be assured that all properties are fully insured, meet fire safety standards and are registered with NSW planning.
