ENJOY THIS BEAUTIFULLY RENOVATED PENTHOUSE ON THE 7TH FLOOR with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, split zone AC and gorgeous furnishings and fixtures.
Kona Alii has a secure foyer with 2 elevators, assigned covered parking, and a great location right in town.
The downstairs Primary bedroom has a comfortable Queen Sized bed with en suite bathroom. The loft includes a Queen sized bed as well with a wet bar and microwave. Upstairs has a walk out private lanai/deck.
Kitchen provides just about all you will need in your home away from home. Enjoy this 7th floor 2 story unit with a full kitchen for your next home away from home.

Best place for 2 couples

We were 2 couples visiting Big Island, the location was great for us as it was close to restaurant, to night live and easy access to the highway. The penthouse was more than perfect for 2 couples, the 2 floors gave us a lot of privacy and quiet time. Everything went smooth and well. The place was clean and every thing was there including a bottle of wine which was appreciated on our arrival. The owner was quite helpful. We strongly recommend it and we will stay there on our next visit.

Great condo in perfect location

This is easily the best place we’ve ever stayed in Kona(our 7th trip). The location is dead center in Kailua-Kona and easy walking distance to loads of restaurants and activities. The condo itself has so many excellent qualities. Private covered parking(Jeep was always cool when we got to it). Condo is totally updated with nice furniture and lighting. 2 showers in the 3 bathrooms is great. Everyone can get ready at the same time. Full fully stocked kitchen is nice. The AC splits (something we’ve never used) kept the unit appropriately cooled. New washer dryer made it easier to pack less for a long trip. 2 outside patios, both with a side view of the ocean were nicely furnished. Property manager was super responsive when we had questions. This is seriously a 11 out of 10 stay. We’ve already booked next year! Mahalo!!

Location, Location, Location

Newly remodeled Condo with all the amenities. Water views and all the sounds. Located on a main street along the beach. Restaurants and shops to the left and right. Sundays has a craft fair which closed part of the street for about 200 vendors. Walk down and check it out. I found the Big Island a great place to relax. When the sun goes down it gets dark. The location is a great base of operations. Golfing and resorts to the north, beautiful sandy beaches to the south. Randy had the place all set up for an easy start to the vacation. Highly recommended.

Clean, Quiet and Great Location

This might be the cleanest condo we have stayed in. Like model home clean. So clean that I walked into the glass patio door once but I that is a skill I have mastered over my lifetime. We were greeted with a basket of goodies and refrigerator with beer and cold drinks plus a sweet note with birthday wishes. I usually look for homes over condos or very small complexes but this complex didn't feel too large. The pool was rarely used and it was nice to be able to look down from lanai and check to see how busy it was before heading down. There is a variety of restaurants just steps away. We ate most of our breakfasts at Bongo Bens. Our friends joined us for a few days and loved the upstairs sundeck. They didn't mind coming downstairs to use the shower in the guest bath. They had just spent a few days at the Fairmont Orchid before joining us and said numerous times how much more they enjoyed the condo. The A/C splits allow you to control the temperature for each room which is great for those couples like us who have different comfort levels. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was stocked. There were 2 beach chairs, a boogie board, and a small cooler to use. Reserved parking was a plus but finding for the first time can be tricky, use the written directions and not your phones gps. We would stay here again even if it was just the two of us.

Pride of Ownership

Randy and Gretchen were wonderful to work with and totally hospitable to our needs. You can tell they are not into renting their beautiful unit for the money but for the experience they want their guests to receive. They take total pride ownership and how they gutted and renovated their unit to how personable and helpful they were to my wife and myself. We were visiting Kona for the Hawaii Ironman and they allowed us to store extra big bulky items (bike boxes at their own residence which was close by). They have a upstairs beautiful loft area and deck outside, which candidly I didn't use much because I was trying to stay out of the sun and get ready for the race and then a nice deck off the main living area. What was also unique about the unit is they have 3 bathrooms. Plenty spacious, new appliances, super clean and extremely practical and functional. We used almost every piece of furniture in the house. Additionally, they have great TV's if you are into relaxing and watching sport event or your favorite show. The location is minutes from downtown Kailua and right along the run course for the Hawaii Ironman which makes the location A++. The only problem we had was trying to decide which bedroom to sleep in (downstairs and or upstairs). We chose upstairs. It is a fabulous unit for 2 or 4 people. We also own a vacation place and things I value are quality linen, good toilet paper, quality mattresses and functional and practical kitchen (for my wife to spoil me) and it had all of that and more. My request would be that future guests respect and treat Gretchen and Randy's place with the same quality and respect they put in renovating for future guests and great experiences for their travelers. They take total pride as owners which I really appreciated and valued. Aloha!!!

We had a leak (downstairs bedroom) in the cupboard after heavy rain showers. It did not reappear or happen with the Air Con on.The two sliding doors (upstairs bedroom) and lounge door to balcony could not be secured. CJK manager fixed one of the upstairs doors but not the others.The Air Con control in the upstairs bedroom was very difficult to operate due to either batteries or faulty on/off switch. The rooms were clean as was the lounge and kitchen. We washed the towels and hopefully left the kitchen as clean as we found it. We only had breakfast there each day.

Rest and relaxation with a beautiful view.

Clean & tidy. 2 bedroom and 2.5 bath. 1 bedroom downstairs with 3/4 bath ensuite. 1 bedroom upstairs with 1/2 bath ensuite 1: 3/4 bath with washer/ dryer. Beautiful ocean view from living room lanai. Mountain view from upstairs lanai. Have a fun relaxing time.

Few notes

I let the property manager know some of these things but feel they are worth mentioning: pillows old and musty and mushy, sliding doors do not lock, left side levlour windows in main suite do not close and a couple are actually ready to fall out. Noise from music/bands at nearby restaurants went on until 2 am. We did appreciate the well stocked home with spices and coffee makers and extra bedding and towels.

Beautiful ocean views

We really enjoyed this property--especially having not one but two different decks to lounge around on. Every morning we would have our breakfast on the lower-level deck and gaze out at the goings-on in the bay--kayakers, competitive swimmers, tour boats. We would definitely stay here again.

VRBO Disappointment

1) Breach of contract; no available washer dryer for our stay as cited in listing. This was a primary reason for selecting this property along with cleanliness. 2) Sliding Door Wall left open allowing geckos in the unit. 3) Sliding Doors had no locking mechanism and could allow entry via balcony access. 4) Multiple cockroach sightings 5) General cleanliness okay 6) Location excellent – great location in Kona 7) Property Manager, minimal assistance with placating attitude (e.g. day of arrival sent process to access property & when called implied sent much earlier, $25 gift card from Target for no washer, ridiculous for a property we paid a significant premium for, when informed sliders didn’t lock she pointed out we where on a higher floor…)

We have been visiting Kona for 48 years, much has changed but for us the special Kona stuff remains unchanged! This unit was clearly very well cared for and big enough to provided a little space for 3 people. The views of the ocean and mountains were exceptional. Very quiet day and night! A 5 minute walk to the north or south brought us to our favorite waterholes and eateries. The trolley gave us access to several food markets and shops of all types. We will most definitely stay at Penthouse across from the Ocean again!

Family Vacation

We really enjoyed our stay Kona Alii. This condo has everything you could want and need. Location of the facility is right on the Main Street, but this condo is set back enough and on the 7th floor so you don’t hear any noise. The lanai had a great view of the ocean where we would sit out every morning and enjoy our coffee.

Great Location

Ideal place to stay to explore downtown Kona. Close to all amenities which was perfect for lounging around Kona. The ocean view was good from the lower balcony whilst the upper one was quite hot since being a penthouse unit. Overall enjoyed the stay and would stay there again if visiting the area. Felt safe walking anywhere around the area.
