Excellent and fun property! Fabulous views and sunsets. The house was in a perfect location for skiing multiple areas and we enjoyed it! The host was available for questions and promptly answered and inquiry!
Beautiful home for our Stowe ski trip, the listing pictures don't do this home justice. It's very cozy and comfortably fit 8 people. Thanks so much for the wonderful weekend!!
We had a great time here! So much snow came down and a plow came twice to make sure we could get out of the driveway. The house was clean and ready for us. Such a cool decor with plenty of space and a great loft for the kiddos! Waterbury is adorable and its an easy drive right to the heart of the town. Would definitely stay again!
The location was perfectly situated between Stowe and Sugarbush. It would have been nice to have had access to the fireplace. There was a gas insert but this was not set up for fires. There was plenty of room and the vibe was very 70s in a great way.
Fantastic views! A perfect spot for our family- 5 adults who were in the area for a wedding in Stowe. The location was perfect and we enjoyed the eclectic 70âs vibe. Very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed.
A group of friends and I stayed in the home for a wedding in the area, and it was fantastic for seven adults! Lots of space and unique features of the home. The pool and outdoor fire pit are awesome! Would absolutely stay again!
We stayed with our family of four and in-laws. Everything was exactly as listed. We were close to everything: downtown Waterbury, Stowe and Burlington. The 70s vibe was groovy and tons of books to explore! Hope to stay again!
Pool was nice, home was cozy and lots of space for games, and conversation. We were very pleased with our stay and would stay again and recommend to friends. 10/10!
Needs professional cleaning & rodent extermination
House itself is very cool. It needs professional cleaning, mouse extermination, mouse feces in toaster & counter tops, live mouse ended up in dishwater in sink, outdoor grill needs cleaned still had old food on it, refrigerator was dirty, need new bed sheets full of pilling
The moment we stepped into this house, it felt like crossing into another timeâwarm wood tones, intricate wallpaper, and a spiral staircase whispering stories of the past. More than a stay, it was an experienceâa living museum where every detail added to its undeniable charm. It had plenty of room for 9 adults, with plenty of towels, blankets and pillows. By day, it was the perfect ski retreat, just 25 minutes from Stowe. By night, the endless stars made stepping outside a privilege. Inside, the home wrapped us in rustic comfort, blending history with warmth. Sure, there were quirksâmissing game pieces, no firewood, small coffee mugsâbut they only added to its character. For food, Thai Smile was a gem, and no trip is complete without Alchemist Brewingâs Vermont-only beers. Honestly, even if you came just for the breweries, this house would be worth it.This isnât the Four Seasons, and it doesnât try to be. Itâs something rarer: a place with soul, a time capsule of history and warmth that lingers long after you leave. The basement cabinets were the coolest partâthis house is a must-stay. Thank you for your hospitality!
The location is perfect and the town of Waterbury is lovely.
The layout is perfect for a two family vacation, if everything is working properly and clean.
Three full bathrooms and only one could be used to shower and only two of the toilets could be used.
There was mold in the one fully functioning bathroom shower. We were left with one and a half rolls of toilet paper. The house was very musty and full of dust. It needs a good airing out and cleaning. Curtains falling off of rods throughout the hose. The king room bedroom had broken cranks on the windows. Pool was dirty.and
Werent there much mostly to just sleep. When got there ran litchen sink (upstairs-main) leaked so nad soaked under sink. We called about it
Said some1 would come but no 1 did. It as okay we used sink downstairs if needed it but we didnt use it. Nor the pool (to cold temperature outside)
My family and I stayed for 2 nights to catch the total solar eclipse. Located up on a hill with mountain views, this was a perfect location! The sunsets here were also amazing. The house definitely needs some updating/maintenance but was within our price range so we were mostly satisfied.
At 2500 square feet, there is plenty of room to spread out. The house has 3 floors - the basement is a walk out and has a small kitchen, full bathroom, a living area, 2 pull out couches/loveseats and a cot. The main floor has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, a living area, dining area, kitchen and full bath. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked all of our meals during our stay. The upstairs is accessed by spiral staircase and has 1 bedroom with twin bunk beds and a full bath but the cold-water faucet was broken. One of the bathroom faucets in the basement was also leaking. We discovered a secret room behind a bookcase upstairs so that was fun!
The garage housed the ping pong table and foosball and there is a firepit in the back behind the pool. We visited in April so the pool wasn't open yet but the gate to the pool area was not working and off its hinges. After finding some empty beer cans around, we wondered if the last guests who stayed here did not care for the property like they should have. Overall, we had a great time and also appreciated all the outdoor furniture so we could hang out and enjoy the beautiful weather and spectacular eclipse!
As advertised, a retro ski chalet from the 1970s. House has lots of room and all the basic amenities we needed for a successful long weekend stay. Great view from the front deck and the book collection is amazing.
Tim & Stephanie live in Essex with their 3 kids. They run their own businesses & manage this rental home in their spare time. Tim grew up in Essex & is a native Vermonter while Stephanie grew up in New York State. Tim is a snowboarder while Stephanie & their kids are skiers.
Tim's Aunt Martha bought the chalet in the 80s. She purchased it from the original builder. Martha's passion was antiques & owns M.Lewis Antiques in downtown Waterbury. Thus us you see lots of the original decorations still left in their original locations. Tim & Stephanie follow Aunt Martha's love for funky things & appreciate the chalet in it's orginal charm. We hope you love it too!
The views of the Green Mountains is outstanding. The house is extremely quiet & you don't hear cars going by. You will get a kick out of all the nick knacks, vintage wallpaper & colorful bathrooms! When was the last time you got to use a spiral staircase? Have fun & let us know what you find interesting!
