My husband, 3 year old daughter and I stayed in this unit for about 2 weeks and it was great! The host was very nice and responsive to anything we needed. It was exactly as pictured and was stocked with basically everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice, quiet and cozy place to stay.
This is a cozy basement apartment. A very quiet neighborhood. We felt very safe. The owner is very helpful if needed but doesnât bother you if not needed. It is about five minutes from the Metro rail station so the location is perfect for Washington D C sightseeing. We absolutely enjoyed our stay.
Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
This unit should not be on the rental market at all. We have stayed in many converted basement units in the Silver Spring area, and all the others have complied with local building codes by having fire egress windows in the bedrooms. This unit's bedroom is entirely underground and has no windows at all, much less anything providing fire egress. No building permit could possibly have been issued for a project so far out of compliance with local fire safety regulations, so I'm sure this is not the only substandard thing about it.On top of that, the only heating came from space heaters that had to be plugged into power strips. This is not a safe unit for anyone to occupy; we stayed there the night we arrived since we were too tired from flying all day to figure anything else out, but we realized how unsafe it was and moved out the next day. There were numerous other smaller issues: a bed hemmed in by walls on three sides, so that if there are two people sleeping there, one of them has to crawl in and out over the other; no bedroom furniture other than one very small and very flimsy nightstand, so clothes that don't go on hangers can only be either in your suitcase or on the floor; almost no sound insulation between this unit and the main house so that conversations and TV sound were clearly audible. At the price, we expected "basic" rather than "fancy" accommodations, but this place does not meet minimal standards for safety and we would never book it again.
The check-in process was a little awkward because the app had changed, but did not inform the owner that there is no longer a check-in button. Not ownerâs fault. During the stay, the deck was under construction, so we constantly heard hammering noises and drilling noises throughout our stay. Also, the upstairs people were very loud. The area is really nice though, very peaceful and quiet. Everything is labeled very neatly, and there was even make up remover, which was super helpful. The place is much smaller than the photos suggest. But, other than that, the day was overall a pretty pleasant experience.
