The exterior of this property offers under-house concrete parking, a six-person hot tub, an enclosed hot/cold outdoor shower, a fish cleaning area, a park-style grill for beachside cookouts, and an amazing private boardwalk to the beautiful beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Enclosed foyer stairs provide access to the spacious living/dining/kitchen area on the first floor. Barefoot Bungalow's beachy furnishings create lots of space for your family and friends to spread out and relax. The living area offers a large TV, a queen sleeper sofa, amazing views of the Gulf, and glass doors that open to the beachfront deck. The teak furniture on the covered deck is perfect for relaxation and alfresco dining. The spacious kitchen is equipped with everything needed to prepare coastal feasts and features granite counters, upscale stainless appliances, and water views. The large dining table and breakfast bar stools provide lots of seating at mealtime. Multiple DVD players are provided for guest use. Beach gear credit is included with this home - book a stay and get your choice of kayaks, paddleboards, beach chairs, and more.

Great location, house needs attention.

Great location and could be a great house. Beds were great, but all other furnishings need to be replaced inside and out. Drapes were filthy and the lower deck is in poor shape. Mold in the washing machine and roaches in the kitchen.

The house was so beautiful inside and out. Check-in/out was extremely easy. The house was spotless on arrival and the views were unmatched. We had a wonderful time!

Great Vacation.

Loved view from house, easy beach access, beautifull beach view. Few little things went wrong but Vacasa was right there. I would stay again. Little tlc on steps would go along way.

A little disappointing

We have stayed in several upscale beachfront homes in St George Island’s Plantation neighborhood, and while this home’s location is super, it did not live up to its description of upscale. It is in need of several updates (furniture, porch repair), the hot tub was not functional, and the storm covers were permanently locked in the down position on 4 of the 6 windows on the main floor (thus blocking the ocean view). We feel if you are going to advertise and charge a premium price for an upscale beachfront home, it should live up to its billing.

The Plantation at St. George Island: A Mixed Review

This past Labor Day week, our extended family of six (five adults and one child) stayed at The Plantation at St. George Island for the first time. While the location and amenities were fantastic, there were several areas where the house fell short. Positives: * Prime Location: The Plantation's beachfront location is unbeatable. * Spacious Accommodations: The house was large enough to comfortably accommodate our group. * Gated Community: The gated community offers a sense of security and provides miles of walking and biking trails. * Amenities: Guests have access to two pools, a clubhouse, and tennis courts. Negatives: * Maintenance Issues: Upon arrival, we noticed dirty sofas and mold in the ceiling vent of the living room. In addition, one of the guest rooms had a dirty diaper and a strong odor of urine. * Back Porch Condition: The back porch was spacious but poorly maintained, with rusty nails and a mildewy rug. *Overall cleanliness could have been better with dusty shelves and garbage under beds from previous guests. * HVAC Disruption: During our stay, unannounced HVAC maintenance caused a significant inconvenience by shutting off the air conditioning for over five hours. While we enjoyed the Plantation's location and amenities, the maintenance issues and cleanliness concerns in the house were significant enough to deter us from staying there again. We would consider staying within the Plantation community in the future, but would choose a different property.

Loved SGI

This was a first time stay at SGI for the entire group, some driving from as far away as Louisiana, Arkansas, and GA. The relative simplicity of the island may be a draw back for some visitors, but we all enjoyed the peace and ease of getting around, whether on foot, bike, or car. The Plantation amenities (pool, tennis, fitness center) were a nice addition. This house is right on the beach -- just as described. We all enjoyed the wide porch looking south over the water both morning and evening. We recommend early June as the weather was not too hot/humid yet and the island was not packed. It was a five-star vacation!

Beautiful view, great location, needs a lot of work though

As previous reviews have mentioned, several things are in serious need of updating. The couches are so worn and disgusting that we wouldn’t even sit on them. We put clean sheets over them. The wood steps off the back porch are in need of repair or replacement. One is split badly and there are some nails sticking up. This is a liability. The steps coming from the porch down to the beach walkway need to be replaced. There are no potholders in the kitchen. Using a dish towel to grab a hot pan out of the oven creates a fire hazard. (Also mentioned in previous review.) It would be nice to have at least one hairdryer in the house. ( mentioned in previous posts.) A chair in the den didn’t even have a cushion on it. It was just a chair frame. Really?? The chairs at the dining room table sink in in the middle, probably from long ears of wear and tear. The table is a nice size, but the top part has areas where the veneers are split and peeling up. On the top deck, where they’re used to be white fixtures, they are just rusted out holes in the ceiling with old yucky remnants of wiring. There’s no front porch light- Not sure if it’s broken or the bulb is burned out. This is not an expensive property to rent. They could take a couple weeks worth of profits and put them back into the property to make it so much better. On a positive note, the location is wonderful and the view is spectacular. I guess that’s why y’all don’t put the money into the house to fix it up. It rents no matter what even though it needs some TLC.

Fantastic views and home layout but….

This beachfront house has great decks for viewing the beautiful beach/gulf. The 5 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths are very comfortable and good for larger groups. Our main concerns were that the dining room chairs are way past needing repair and/or being replaced. The living room couches are very worn as well.

We love SGI and being right on the beach is just amazing. And while this house does offer space for a family or group, the home does need some TLC, such as repairs and updated furniture. Vacasa was quick to respond to an issue which was much appreciated. Overall, wonderful vacation!

What a great property this was. It was very roomy and very well appointed. It had lots of dishes, utensils, and plenty of pots and pans. It had everything you would need. The view was spectacular. We had a great time and would definitely rent this home again.

Wonderful beachfront house!

The house was right on the beautiful beach in the plantation with a nice boardwalk. We enjoyed the covered decks and hot tub! The house well accommodated our family of 6 adults and 3 children. There was plenty of room and plenty of bathrooms. The kitchen was well equipped. There were 2 things missing that we felt like the house should provide: potholders in the kitchen and hairdryers. None of us brought a hairdryer expecting there would be one there. We will stay here again in the future!

This is a large attractive home steps to the water. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful with nice amenities: community pools, gym, tennis and bike paths. Hosts responded quickly when needed.

Beach music

Spacious, comfortable, beachfront home in the lovely Plantation. So close to the Gulf that the music of the water was a constant delight! Also great shelling, which we particularly enjoy. They were doing some upgrades and updating to the property, which will be helpful...the new boardwalk to the beach was wonderful, so I am sure the rest will be, too.

Barefoot Bungalow stay

Barefoot Bungalow is a great beachfront home with really nice views. There are plenty of Adirondack chairs on the covered main level porch. The kitchen is updated and has lots of space, including a nice pantry. The family room area has plenty of seating and the master bedroom is large and includes a great en-suite shower. The bunk bed room on this level is small, but would be good for kids or younger teens. The upstairs ocean front rooms are large and have great views. The twin bed room is comfortable for children to adults, with a chess table and small closet. The Queen room connects to the twin bed room with a walk through bath that is a little on the small size but would be fine for the week if shared by a family. All the carpet in the house seemed new and was comfortable. We had two minor issues on two separate evenings and RVP was extremely helpful by coming out the next morning to solve them. Excellent service. The location in the Plantation was great and we didn’t feel on top of our neighbors. My only “wish” would be for a slightly better system for getting sand off your shoes or a place to store your shoes inside the porch door in the family room. It was easy to track sand into the sofa area with shoes right by one sofa. Shoes will be wet if left outside by the back door if it rains. We will definitely stay in this home again when in St. George. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

The entry doors gave some problems by not opening with the code given to us but the property manager answered on the first ring and all was solved in minutes!
