Got scammed in Cannes
It is unfortunate that I have to leave a review for a property I never actually stayed in, but I feel it is important to share my experience for the benefit of others.âąI made a reservation and paid the full amount several months in advance for a convention in Cannes.âąOn the day of check-in, the property manager contacted me via WhatsApp and asked that we communicate outside the official Vrbo platform.âąHe informed me that my reservation was being âupgradedâ and sent me a new address, different from the one provided in my original Vrbo confirmation.âąDespite having booked and paid for an extra night specifically to allow for a morning check-in, he attempted to charge an additional fee for early check-in.âąThe new apartment was not an upgrade. It was significantly farther from the convention center â one of the main reasons I had selected the original property.âąThe original listing advertised air conditioning; the substitute apartment did not have any.âąWhen I confronted the property manager about these discrepancies, he was dishonest and dismissive.âąI later heard from several others that this kind of bait-and-switch tactic is not uncommon with this host.Be cautious when booking this property. My experience suggests a pattern of misleading practices and poor transparency.
