Well equipped cottage ideally located to visit north Cornwall . WiFi is intermittent but not a huge issue . The views are wonderful The local pub does good food
Very comfortable stay- everything working fine, nice beds, well equipped, great views. Wi-fi / phone signal not very reliable but it doesnât matter, it forces you to get away from it all. Lots of places nearby to visit and the kids liked the local history and mysteries.
We had a lovely stay at Ladydown Cottage, very peaceful and the cottage was equipped with everything we could need. Wonderful views of the moor and our two year old loved watching the sheep, cows and ponies from our window. Great location allowing us to explore beautiful Cornwall. Would definitely like to return.
The cottage was beautiful,we woke up every morning to a wonderful view of the sheep grazing, later the ponies, the cottage was Cosy and in the evening we lit the log burner, the scones and cream on arrival were a pleasant surprise, would recommend highly, thank you both very much ,will come again
We enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing break in a wonderful part of the country. Cottage was equipped with everything you might need and a cream tea was waiting our arrival. A lovely touch. The local pub was within easy walking distance and is well worth a visit or two!! We awoke most mornings to the sight of wild ponies walking past the window! All in all a wonderful break. Thank you đ
nothing to say at all apart from the majestical bodmin moors outside door and windows and the frequent mists that roll over it early mornings and late evenings or the free roaming animals that leave my new forest experience in the dust or maybe the nearby stream/river where small wild trout leap from the waters? This was a dream for me and taking the time to visit charlotte dymonds memorial and attending the court case experience at bodmin regarding her trial literally took me back in time! All this was enough for me but add the beaches and coastal scenery whats left? I WANT TO LIVE HERE FOREVER!!! THANKYOU XXXX
We are a retired couple with a dog and we enjoyed our stay very much. Ladydown cotttage is an L shaped bungalow that appears to be a barn-conversion set in the corner of the neat and tidy stable yard. It has a small enclosed courtyard garden of its own. The property is right on the edge of Bodmin Moor - the cattle grid onto the Moor is almost outside so there is a rumble when a car goes over. Our dog startled at the noise at first but soon grew used to it - and the traffic isnât very frequent. The window in the living room looks onto the moor and sometimes the sheep came right up to the window. Our dog paid no attention but itâs something you would need to bear in mind if you had a dog who reacted to livestock (cattle and ponies as well as sheep are on the moor.) There are several other cottages in the yard, but Ladydown is very private.
The cottage is clean and attractively decorated. It has comfortable beds, a good shower and a well-equipped kitchen - even a dogâs water bowl! Wi-fi reception is a bit patchy but then it is a remote location.
The cottage is a good base for walks on the moor as well as drives to both north and south coasts. The centre of the village, with shop and pub, is about a ten minute walk or very short drive.
First time in Cornwall and the location was amazing, we couldn't have stayed in a nicer location. The cottage was perfect, everything we needed and more. Ross and Brenda were lovely they both greeted us on arrival and a lovely touch waiting in our cottage was the cream tea. They had all the information of the cottage and the location available in the welcome packs, very well thought out and informative.
Lovely to sit and watch the ponies on the moors going past the window.
The Old Inn just down the road is definitely worth a visit, amazing food and very friendly. Thank you for eveything.
The cottage was lovely it had everything we needed. Very clean and comfortable. We had two children and two sausage dogs who loved looking out the window watching the horses and cows walk past.
Brenda and Ross had left a lovely cream tea for our arrival which was a nice treat after a long journey from surrey.
I highly recommend the riding stables across the road again lovely staff.
We will definitely be returning.
Me, my wife and 12 year old daughter stayed at Hallagenna. Our cottage was very pleasant. Nice and clean on arrival, a very comfortable bed and a lovely outside area so we could enjoy a drink after our daily excursions.
WIFI inside the cottage was intermittent, but outside at the picnic table you could get full reception so no real problems at all.
Ross and Brenda were perfect hosts. They introduced themselves on arrival and informed us that if we needed anything to just let them know. The fact that we didn't need to bother them the whole week shows that everything was catered for within the cottage. Thank you for everything.
Alan
Brenda and Ross do provide a stunning retreat in the middle of a marvelous Bodmin Moor, undisturbed by any cell phone (very basic Internet included, dependet on the Cottage).
Our dog loved the walks in that great nature. The weather does give many different aspects to the Moor.
Free ranging sheep, cows and horses, being your direct neighbours, will say hello, mostly in the morning.
Little old villages and Cornish narrow roads do add to the typical picture of that area.
The location do provide a good starting point to boths sides of the coast (northern and southern) including sandy beathes (e.g. Par), the rocky coast line (e.g. Port Isaac) and Cornish fishing villages like St. Ives (ca. 1h by car).
We've enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.
Anna, Stefan and Laica
We were very happy with the lovely cottage we stayed in.It was warm cosy and clean. The location was perfect and the country side was idylic.Ross and Brenda the owners were very friendly and helpful. We would defitnatly reccomend these lovely cottages to our friends and family.
We had a great week at Bodmin Moor. Owners are verry kind and the scones were delightfull (for us Dutch)
The cottage was well-maintained and the beds were sleeping great.
We would recommend this cottage becouse the nearby A30 was nearby and bring you to the bigger cities in no time.
If you are a walker, than this is a great area to be.
This was my third time at Hallagenna and the second at Ladydown Cottage. Everything has been well thought out; outdoors the car parking is kept away from the courtyard with a one way through driveway, a picnic bench and resident Robin red breast are best saved for nicer days than those in late October.
Inside, the house is very clean and well appointed with nice touches, such as the log burner, a varied selection of DVDs and books to suit all tastes, Freeview TV and DVD player, plenty of towels on the beds, washing machine, etc. Heating was very easy to adjust to suit via thermostat.
Ross and Brenda, the owners, keep a fairly low profile (which I like) and are more than happy to help whenever needed.
The farm is very child friendly. There is a large wooden playhouse in the courtyard and the ponies provide plenty of stroking opportunities.
Locally, Bodmin provides supermarket shopping (ASDA does extremely cheap fuel there), St Breward has a decent enough local shop with a rather chatty owner, the Old Inn, which is just a 10 minute walk down the lane (take a torch at night) does very decent food and beer but can get busy, even on a weeknight, so think about booking, particularly if you are a large group.
Being on the edge of Bodmin Moor, Hallagenna is within striking distance of the seaside, both beach and wild cliff edge, but also retains a real 'away from it' feel.
The properties represent extemely good value, particularly in low season and I will definitely be returning in the future.
Very comfortable with everything you need. Beds good, heating wonderful, and a great shower. Well located for driving trips all over Cornwall which we did in every direction. Quiet, rural area right on the moor. We loved passing the cows and ponies each day. Owners could not have been nicer. Planning to return again.
