2 Bedroom house situated in beautiful Lenah Valley. 8 minutes from the city, short walk to cafes, bakeries, supermarkets and north Hobart restaurants. Access to Wellington Parks containing beautiful mountain walks and bike tracks as well as the headwaters of the picturesque Newtown rivulet. Stocked herb garden and fruit trees (depending on season) for the chef, back deck, bbq, and large grassed backyard.
This property is definitely not 5 star. We paid almost double the normal rate for a 4 day stay over Christmas which would have been equivalent to a luxurious city hotel suite. The toilet features urine stained wooden flooring. Dog hair on the lounge ( there were 2 large dogs inside the house when we arrived). No hanging space for clothes and no towels laid out. Access from Augusta Road is via a set of very steep stairs with no off street parking. We were told check in was at 12.00 and we arrived to be told check in time had been changed to 2,00 pm. Household electrical system is inadequate for the installed load. The system cannot sustain electric heater, toaster and kettle in use simultaneously. Fortunately I have an electrical background and was able to identify the problem and save the owner a very costly service call during the holiday period. The house is at least 70 years old and mainly in original worn, deteriorated condition. Originally there was to be a third person in our group but was unable to travel due to WA travel restrictions. Our host promised a 50% refund. There has been no communication from him and definitely no refund. We have sent him an email expressing our disappointment and highlighting his lack of honesty and integrity. Again no reply. We have been informed by Stayz who have advised they would make contact with the host expressing our concerns. We would like this complaint published as a review as we feel this is a disgusting way to treat a Vietnam Veteran. This property and its host are not a good advertisement for Stayz. Looking forward to further positive communication from Stayz. David and Carole
We really enjoyed our stay. The best feature was the fireplace which made the place very cosy in the evenings. Street parking was always available and right next to the house. We also checked out a few cafes and restaurants within five minutesâ drive of the house, including Daci and Daci (amazing pastries and coffee), Room for a Pony (nice brunch) and The Den (fantastic atmosphere & delicious dinner near the waterfront).
