Loved our stay in St Ives. Beautiful cottage, with all the personal touches. Loved the Scones and Cornish cream. We felt so welcome and really enjoyed our stay. Walked to all the st Ives beaches and so close to all the restaurants and shops
Great location! Close to beaches/sloop etc. Negatives - some mouse droppings on dining chair. Kettle plug a little dodgy. One of the chairs was really grubby, otherwise a nice and handy place to stay.
Lovely cottage, close to all the things you want in St Ives
Great location and cottage nicely styled. Just a few things missing from the inventory, but the owner replied promptly. I didn't effect our stay and we would definitely recommend and we will return đrecommenadefinitelyrecommand
Lovely quaint fishermanâs cottage literally 5 mins walk from a stunning beach!! Highly recommended for a relaxing break, will definitely be returning!
The apartment is nice and clean and contains everything you need, e.g. dishwashing liquid, salt (in the kitchen) and even sand toys for the youngest (in the cupboard upstairs). Thanks for hosting us - gladly again!
We had a lovely holiday here, the cottage is literally a stones throw from Porthgwidden and Porthmeor beach and so ideal for walking down in your swim stuff and surfing. Cottage is small but this is the nature of the fishermans cottages in St Ives and adds to the charm. The only constructive criticism I would give is that there were only 3 large plates and a couple of small ones so we couldn't all eat peoperly together, also a caffetiere would have been nice to have for coffee. :)
The cottage is nice & well located-however when we arrived it appeared to have a large bluebottle infestation-we sprayed & sprayed fly spray but the place smelt of it -so we had the front door open constantly because of that &the flies which meant 2/3 males who were next door used to stand outside our door and smoke constantly & drop their cigarette ends outside the door-I cleaned up some but as none of us smoke it was unpleasant. Then the host emailed asking if we smoked in the property-& was quite rude about it. I was furious-no we didnt smoke in the property but rather than say something negative I didnât reply-to which I had another abrupt email from him. Which again I ignored-I am writing this now as Vrbo have asked me too. The cottage itself was nice albeit very old but the host was unpleasant in his accusations. So for that reason I have marked it down
I didnât smoke in the f
Itâs a bit of a nightmare to get to the property by car,due to the town beI got closed to cars etc till 4 then itâs mad. So you canât really move your car once parked because you know you canât drive back between 11-4. Getting to the property the instructions are out of date so we were looking for the hotel to turn right at, no hotel now by that name. When we did get to the cottage. Getting the key was easy however, opening the door was another thing itâs a round door handle and extremely hard to turn. It came to the point I called matt to say we couldnât get in, but no answer and no reply back. We eventually got in. The cottage is in need of some tlc, the sofas are dirty and ripped. There no mention on listing that thereâs an appt above the bedrooms with a balcony outside the double bedroom window so this was very noisy at times as was all the banging about from above. Donât leave anything out and about in the kitchen as ants are everywhere even got into my freezer bag. I placed bread in the bread bin, went to use day after, covered in ants!!!!
The location of the apartment for getting into st ives is brilliant. But in future Iâd look for somewhere that had parking and nothing above the bedrooms and no ants
Well placed for the heart of St Ives. Not for everyone.
A small house, two levels of a three storey terrace at "the island" end of St Ives. Really close to the harbour front, the Hepworth gallery and the Tate. Beds upstairs. One double, and one two singles. Cramped, but workable. The staircase is not suitable for anyone with significant mobility issues.
Good kitchen, small but workable living room. Furniture is run down and shabby but nothing you can't live with.
Carparking closeby is packed, you need luck or 20minutes patience to wait for a spot but once found, the flat is three houses away.
If you don't like run down Furniture, quirky rooms, low ceilings and character, this isn't for you. If you cannot negotiate a steep narrow staircase, this isn't for you. If you can handle this, its a really good house for St Ives Central.
We had a weekend here at the start of November. This was our first time in St Ives. What a beautiful, Quirky little place. The house has everything you could possibly need for a break in St Ives. The beaches are a two minute walk away which is brilliant. We will definitely return when the weather is a bit warmer/settled.
Really easy to find with directions given. No hassle check in and check out. Parking right next door (which gets full but we never had to wait more than a few minutes for a space to open up). We enjoyed St. Ives and our stay here.
We were a family of 4 adults travelling this June to St. Ives. One of the adults has mobility issues, so you should be warned there are many hills in St. Ives. There is also a nice path along the water front that leads to the city centre from the train station that is not well marked and makes for a better walk to town than the main roadway.
The cottage was quaint and well located. Downstairs kitchen and living room were adequate. Upstairs 1 good sized bedroom and the 2nd bedroom was cramped for 2 adults and had no close storage. The bathroom was upstairs as well and was fine.
The prefect cottage in the perfect location in the heart of St Ives
Weâve just returned from a great 4 days in Valentine cottage.
Weâre a family of four whoâve been to St Ives a few times and have found the Downalong area to be the best part of town to get the best out of the town. Itâs between the harbour beaches and Porthgwidden, where we regularly go for afternoon drinks or a great breakfast.
The cottage had everything we needed and was really warm and cosy.
The Smeg fridge and Cath kidston mugs were a really nice touch too.
The beds are comfy, the shower warm and there are plenty of comfy sofas to unwind in.
We ate out at The Mex where great Mexican food is served and The Balancing Eel for Fish and chips. We are in at the Eel and took our own alcohol as itâs bring your own.
The kids loved spotting the seal from the beaches and we even spotted Dolphins offshore which was amazing.
Weâd happily go back to this cottage and highly recommend it to others.
A typical small cottage nicely decorated and well-equipped. It's in a great location for getting to st Ives beaches and pottering around town but parking is a nightmare.
It would benefit from a welcome pack for guests (tea and coffee / biscuits)
Cottage with bags of character in a great location
We really enjoyed staying in this well equipped, tastefully furnished cottage. It was in a fantastic location- right by two of the beaches and a stones throw from the harbour. Appreciated the extras that were in the cottage - such as the bath toys that our one year old loved. Would definitely return.
Matt & Pippa Rees are the owners of Valentine Cottage. We've been coming to St Ives for years and in fact we got engaged on Porthmeor beach. So it's a special place for us and we love it! We have owned the property for around 5 years and visit as often as we can. We hope you love both the property and St Ives as much as we do.
We wanted to be in the old part of St Ives which gives us great access to the beaches as well as the town. You can make a cup of tea in the morning and walk around the corner and drink it while watching the waves - bliss!
