We really enjoyed our stay in Valâs chalet type house. The location was ideal - walking distance from town (altho be warned its steep back up the hill!) and the house had everything we needed and plenty of room. Val was v hospitable and had a little chat each day with us. Thank you Val
Lovely studio accommodation, perfect base for exploring Kaiteriteri and Abel Tasman and for relaxing. The host lovely and welcoming. We hope to be back again!
Val's beach chalet is the perfect place to stay in Kaiteriteri. It's close to all the Abel Tasman activities (the epic hikes, kayaking, fishing, and a few beautiful beaches are just down the hill (the route down to the beach is a bit tricky the first time). The house offers super views of the bay and surrounding area, a quiet wilderness setting and tranquility. Kitchen has all the equipment you need to make full meals. Best to do big grocery shopping in Nelson or Richmond, but there's a small store down the hill in Kaiteriteri. Val is an amazing host. Getting to know her and her daughter were a highlight of our trip.
We had a lovely time at Val's. The trail down to town can be a tad confusing, so make sure you leave yourself time to figure it out. The views from upstairs are stunning. We wished we could have stayed for longer.
We had a great time. The house was clean and had a very nice layout. The area is amazing, great weather and epic nature. Val was extremely nice. Highly recommend this house.
Lovely chalet, well stocked with the essential.Comfortable beds and a very relaxing property surrounded by beautiful greenery.View of Kaiteriteri from mezzanine floor.
The property was actually larger than we expected based on the photos. The upstairs had a large lofted area with 3 beds and a great balcony for viewing the Tasman Sea or the Milky Way at night.
I put a lower rating on cleanliness simply because we had a significant ant invasion during our stay. There was some bug spray in the house that we used to kill off most of them, and let Val know at check out that this would need to be addressed. I'm sure small ants like this are common in areas that often leave windows open without screens.
Overall the place was perfect for us, with ample parking and great outdoor areas for sitting, drinking and eating.
Valâs house is very comfortable and well equipped. It gets warm in the afternoon but catches lots of sea breeze. Communication was easy. Val lives across the road and was very friendly and checked in on us to have sure we had everything we needed. It was a great stay.We were mainly in Kaiteriteri as a base for day hikes in the park which worked well. One day we walked in from Marahau (a 15 min drive) to Apple Tree, which was just ok. The walks and beaches are nicer further inâso it is as better to get a water taxi to Bark Bay (or Tonga Quarry) and hike to Awaroa to get picked up. Although the taxis are expensive, those were nicer hikes and beaches. Be aware of winds in the afternoon can make a choppy return trip. Our only issue with the house location was the walk down to the beach is kind of a steep haul and involves a stretch walking on a narrow and winding road with no shoulder. There is some traffic in summer, so I would not be comfortable with kids doing it alone and would not want to do it myself after dark. Just something to be aware of if you plan on mainly using the Kaiteriteri beaches.
Our stay at Valâs was absolutely magical! The house itself, is perfect! It was spotless, and had everything we could possibly have asked for. It had a beautiful comfy feel to it, it was like a home away from home, we really did fall in love with it. The location is 10/10, we enjoyed the stroll into the shops each day for our morning coffee, the views are breath-taking, and Val is the perfect host (thanks also to Karina!). Iâm already planning my next trip back down to stay at Valâs!
Sehr gute Lage in Kaiteriteri.
Beautiful private home in a quiet, safe neighborhood, easy walk to the beach and easy access to boats/excursions to Abel Tasman National Park. Our hostess Val was very kind and helpful. The house had beautiful views of the ocean from all angles and it had everything we needed! We will definitely recommend Val's Chalet to friends!
The chalet was very clean and comfortable with everything you would need for a great stay. Lovely
indoor spaces and decor as well as perfect outdoor spaces. Add to this wonderful views and excellent check in and communication from our hosts. We would certainly wish to return.
This is a dream vacation home nestled into the top of a hill overlooking the ocean. Our host Val was delightful and took good care of us during our three-day stay. We found fresh flowers in the bedroom and apples in the kitchen, which we made into a delicious apple crisp. The two bedrooms were spacious and perfect for two couples. The loft bedroom has a queen bed and two twins, plus a bonus window seat with great sunrise views overlooking the ocean. This was my favorite place to hang out and relax with a book when we weren't off exploring the area. Highly recommended!
The chalet was perfect for a relaxing wee break, it had everything we needed and more (even a brand new queen size bed in the master bedroom ).The views from upstairs looking out to little Kaiteriteri on one side and to the Abel Tasman on the other were fantastic.
Thanks Val and Belle for being great hosts, we would be very happy to book here again.
