Relaxed kiwiana bach in the middle of the Abel Tasman park; fairly basic with toilet and shower in an outside room and some of the provisions needed to be restocked but it was value for money and the owners were lovely to liaise with. Thanks for our stay!
Lovely property, perfect for exploring Abel Tasman. Owners were very accommodating and flexible with good and quick communication with any questions we had
It was the perfect spot to relax and we had everything we needed. Abel Tasman Aqua Taxi folks were a great recommendation for transportation. They accommodated our schedules and were so helpful. The new WIFI at the house was a great surprise for sending pictures back home. If you are considering a stay here, donât hesitate!
Great communication with Matt and so grateful to have been able to spend a few days in the paradise of Torrent Bay in this simple cosy kiwi bach. It had everything we needed. Thanks for sharing this lovely spot Matt!
we had a fabulous time, perfect in every way, thank you to Matt and the family for sharing their wonderful bach with us for our special weekend. So close to - beach and lagoon for swimming, and the parks tracks for walking. And when we just wanted to enjoy being at the bach - outdoor deck and back yard sunny and private. Indoor cosy - and warm, and everything needed in kitchen, particularly enjoyed reading from the collection of books about the history of Abel Tasman park. We look forward to returning again in the future.
Itâs unusual to find a place to rent in the middle of a national park. This was the charm of the bach. The location is perfect for walking parts of the track in both directions, or hopping on a water taxi to go further. Its family obviously love and enjoy the house. Itâs comfortable with a lived-in feel. The solar power encouraged us to be frugal with our power use though didnât inconvenience us. Itâs quite expensive - this would deter us from staying again unless we were sharing costs with others. But the location is very special.
We loved our stay and will return. We were kayaking Abel Tasman and paddled to the bach. We moored our kayak on the beach near the bach. (watch the tides). We stayed 3 days and paddled the area including up to near Cleopatras pool, where we swam. This is a traditional bach that has been simply and tastefully decorated. While it is an older style bach, it has all the comforts we need. Out the front gate and across the path is a picnic table on the edge of the very tidal Torrent bay lagoon. It was lovely having breakfast there. The Abel Tasman track goes right past the bach. It's quiet and private. Will definity return.
A great, original, unique bach, but with extra features like power, fridge/freezer, washing machine. Great location, lovely peaceful setting surrounded by bush.
We loved it there. Rustic, simple, cosy and fun like the original bach experience of yesteryear. The woodfire was awesome. Great private back yard and deck surrounded by natives. A peaceful quiet spot in April. The estuary is just a few steps away outside the gate. Simple clean semi-detached flushing loo and shower. Great fridge freezer worked perfectly. All kitchen gear you could need supplied. Limited power as expected with a few quirks.
Beds a bit soft for us, but that did not detract from our stay. We would love to go back again for 3 or 4 nights. Thanks do much for letting us share your special bit of the Abel Tasman.
We feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to stay in the Morganâs bach in Torrent Bay. Noted in previous reviews was âspidersâ, yet I couldnât find a single one (inside). We felt the bach had real character, and we loved the nautical theme throughout
Cheeky weka kept the kids entertained on the back lawn, and despite the constant rain we loved exploring the bay at low and high tide. We also enjoyed catching our own dinner, and walked to both Cleopatra and Cascade Falls with young children. It was an excellent location for us.
This place isnât for those who donât enjoy the simple things. Be prepared to chop wood, adjust the gas bottles, and work out the power settings yourself.
Thanks for opening your special place to those lucky enough to visit.
Relaxing kiwi bach getaway in beautiful National Park
Cute and rustic cottage/bach in Abel Tasman National Park.
Perfect location for our needs, which included a 9 year old - we were able to do manageable daily walks in each direction every day, and return to home comforts afterwards. Torrent Bay itself is also beautiful and relaxing.
We used Abel Tasman Shuttles to get in and out, and they were very helpful with planning the ferry trips, and with all of our gear that we took in (all food, linen etc).
Communication with owner was great.
Only suggestion would be better instructions on how to use gas oven/grill (inside of oven). We weren't able to figure it out!
Exclusive location
Nice vintage style
Spiders all over
Not very clean in general
As we paid top dollar, we would have expected a very tidy and clean place
Torrent Bay is a magic place and the house is good over all
We had such an amazing time here. The communication with the host Matt was absolutely fantastic. Had everything we needed. The kids took alittle while to get use to the idea of limited power đđ can't wait to stay here again.
My wife two kids (17, 13) and I spent two nights at the property as part of our Kayak trip around the area. Torrent Bay is a beautiful place to escape the world and the location of the batch is great - it is perfect at high tide as you can paddle into the inlet and literally up to the front door. We wanted an easy cost effective accommodation solution that was not a tent... this batch was perfect. A real Kiwi batch with the luxury of a hot shower and a fridge to keep the beer cold! The host was very helpful and easy to deal with. Perfect! Thank you.
We had a fabulous 4 night stay at the bach. It had everything we needed, and we enjoyed being off the grid for a few days. The location right next to the lagoon is amazing. We spent our time pottering around in the lagoon, going for walks in the park and just chilling out. There are hand carts for luggage just behind the jetty shed, so it was great to use those for taking our luggage in, and our luggage and rubbish out.
Such a beautiful place. The bach is really homely and warm and just like a bach should be-that is, it looks like a proper bach, not all done up and flash, but nestled into its surroundings and with everything you need to enjoy the beauty around you. The location is perfect, next to the Torrent Bay lagoon which changes throughout the day. I wanted to never leave. Note to coffee drinkers, you need to bring something to make your coffee in!
Cosy, lovely house and what a wonderful thing to be able to stay inside the Abel Tasman! And despite the isolation of the place the hosts managed to get someone to come help out the same day to get the shower going.
