Check-in/out was simple and no-hassle. Kitchen was reasonably well appointed. Unit was clean. Wouldn't recommend staying in hot weather. There are only box fans and it gets uncomfortably hot in the unit. The main bedroom has glass doors with no curtains so there is no real privacy. We had to change in the walk-in closet.
The upper suite is nice and can hold a lot of people. The WiFi is very slow. Roof work was being done while we were there (we were not informed) and it was quite loud.
This was an absolutely charming place! The owners have really invested in this 100 year old property. They added modern amenities while keeping to the uniqueness of the building.
Very nice property and enjoyable stay. We had no issues finding an open parking space. Unit was nicely decorated. There are stairs and quiet hours. We will definitely look to stay there again with future trips to Seattle/Phinney/Zoo area.
It took forever to persuade the owner to check the heat. This after arriving to some strange things in the apartmentâthe TP unrolled and stretched across the floor; pillows that looked used. Great location, but be persistent in getting what you need
Booked for 4 days to spend time with family in town. Suite had clearly not been cleaned meaningfully since prior guests (food on the ground, leftover coffee, dirty sheets). The unit is not up to code (knee-high railings over stairs, no clear CO detector, furniture in various states of disrepair) and generally feels quite tired. It is in a great location in Fremont, with good access to Woodland Park and local food options. Host was responsive, but often challenging to understand. Upon arrival, gas stovetop had been left on, making the whole apartment unlivable and requiring significant ventilation, which host did not take seriously.
Property is in need of updating & TLC and a proper cleaning. Fridge had pizza in from prior guest, meaning it wasn't cleaned, counter had coffee stains & debris, dishes looked they may have been rinsed and put away, washed 2 of everything & used those during the stay, no tea towel or wash cloth for kitchen.Kitchen floor hadn't been swept. Washroom wasn't very clean, cleaned ourselves to feel some better while using, shower curtain doesn't looked it had been washed in months, towels are in need of replacement, we washed what we needed to use. Bed linen and pillows are old and need to be replaced.
The owner did send someone to clean fridge, counter and floor, didn't do a very good job. The owner said he hadn't been in the unit in 2 years since having a stroke. outside at the front on grass boulevard grass and dirt had been removed down about 6 inches, had to walk through to get to get into the premises, a utility trailer full of junk covered is in this area, I'm sure this hasn't moved in a very long time by the condition and flat tire. great first impression.
There is a lot to love about this place. It's clean and in good condition. It's nicely decorated and has lots of space. The neighborhood is great. Parking is so-so and the wifi was very slow, but the only significant problem we had was that the bed was super uncomfortable. Way too firm for both of us. It was so bad that we checked out the next day and went to a hotel, even though that meant paying double for the rest of our trip.
My family stayed in the upper unit for 3 nights in August of 2024. My husband and I had lived in Seattle in the 1990s. We brought our 11 year old daughter to see the city and meet some old friends. She fell in love with the attic room and was genuinely sad when we checked out. We were in the area for a couple of weeks - mostly staying in hotels - so it was nice for all of us to get a little space from each other. We regretted not spending a few more nights here.
The kitchen, bath, and attic room are all lovely - but bath and frig could use a closer cleaning. The carpeting in the living room and bedroom needs replacing. Wood, tile, etc floor would feel cleaner.
Neighborhood is perfect. We walked to meet friends. Felt very much like we were back living in Seattle.
My big concern was not having air conditioning and staying in the upper part of the house. Seattle in August can be hot. As I feared, it was hot during the day while we were there. But the hosts leave plenty of fans and the Pacific NW can cool off nicely at night. We opened the windows and turned on the fans and it was perfect sleeping weather. We lived in other Seattle homes that did not cool off as well as this unit.
Hosts were quick to respond to all messages. Check in and out was an absolute breeze.
My daughter has made us promise to stay here again on our next visit and we are happy to keep that promise.
We stay in hosted properties often and this was the worst. We've never had a problem, and I think this may be the first time I provide a bad review in the eight years we've been doing it. The communication and treatment from the host was the worst. It all started with me asking, out of courtesy, if we could check in late because our flight was arriving at midnight. Well, the response was incoherent, unwelcoming, and nefarious, so I knew it would be challenging dealing with them. Then the host began harassing me about my party's age requirements and that they they would prematurely cancel our reservation and kick us out when such requirements were never specified in the listing. The host couldn't have been less welcoming. We couldn't even walk up the wooden stairs without the host messaging us during the next day that we were making too much noise, which was a preposterous claim. Again, we've never had a problem with hosted properties.
The place was Ok, but is gloomy and resembles a haunted house. I would be surprised if the top of stairs don't violate local/state/OSHA codes as there is no fall protection at the top of them. The apartment was dusty and the linens on the beds smelled like sweat. The apartment appeared to need some TLC in these regards.
We loved our stay here, it was close to the bus and easy to get to all the things we wanted to see in Seattle. The accommodations were great. We loved how close it was to the Rose garden and morning walks to Green Lake.
Very lovely home with lots of character. The location was very convenient to be away from the bustling parts of the city, yet just a quick bus ride to the downtown attractions. Street parking was always available. Hosts were friendly. Make note there is no air conditioning, so it is very warm being the upstairs suite and unfortunately we were here during a heat wave. The host does provide fans and tips for keeping it as cool as possible. We would definitely stay again, but maybe not during the height of summer.
We enjoyed our stay. The location was great and easy to get to all Seattleâs touristy places as well as U W. We were there for a graduation and weâre just a few minutes away.
The house was actually larger and nicer than I expected. And quiet, which was definitely a plus. Despite appearing like it was in the suburbs, it's actually a short walk from grocery stores, coffee shops and restaurants, plus a longer walk to the lake area with more of them. Not sure if we're returning to the area again, but I'd definitely look to see if this apartment was available.
We purchased this 6 bedroom 1925 stately home to owner occupy the north half and renovate the south half for guests after 93 years of rental use. Our goal has been to restore its original grandness. We set about our creation of 3 three suites with the popular wall bed studio was first. Then we turned to the upper bay window suite and most recently completed the main floor Bay Window suite
Great close in to town location. Nice neighborhood Market with good deli 3 blocks, Mexican across the street, Greenlake's three mile run/walk around it.
