Terrible, lack of maintenance, constant noise/disruptions
The worst rental experience. Water leak/plumbing issues so had many repair/plumbers in and out of unit. Paid for 2 bedroom 2 bath and didn't have either at one point. Remodeling going on in building so jackhammering/drilling/pounding is a constant. Lack of security to unit (deadbolt lock did not work) and jewelry item went missing during stay, front door has gaps around so have loud wind whistling noise along with traffic noise (same for guest bedroom windows), smelled of pet urine and cigarette smoke, used litter box in kitchen, elevator repair constantly so have all that noise and only 1 elevator worked my entire 45 day stay. Owner required another $100 one week prior to rental when itemized receipt specifically showed $100 host fee paid 2 months prior to renting. Reported this to VRBO and they said would credit back which I did not receive. Had to clean out refrigerator/freezer upon arrival. Owner stated she was living there before renting and didn't have plumbing issues. Renter in unit below said water leak issues have been going on for at least 3 years. Owner said she would have handyman fix deadbolt...obviously didn't as it never locked. Had many people coming into unit supposedly fixing issues. Renter beware!
Extra Registration Fee added 3 weeks prior to stay
The Condo was spotless, very well equipped and in a fantastic location. The minor issues we had were quickly resolved by Lori. Lots of beach equipment, great sunsets, quiet location and the elevators worked.
We were not happy with how we were treated.
We reserved 9 months in advance of our stay and paid the full amount required 3 months in advance.
3 weeks before the stay, Lori said: 'Please mail attached doc to condo association per the new rules.' The doc requires a fee to the condo assoc.
My response 'the fee wasn't included in our agreement.'
Lori provided the condo rules and said: "The application must be mailed with payment from renter....condo association new requirements."
My response: "The condo rules say "a registration fee is required with each application . . ." It doesn't say who pays it. Our agreement with you doesn't include this fee. VRBO shows that we're paid in full.
How should we proceed?"
Lori: "this is the first time Iâve had an issue...all other renters have understood this is a requirement of the hoa.â [Lori twice said this was a new requirement, now she says other renters have paid the extra $100]
I was concerned about not being given access to the rental: I sent this message in VRBO: "You have not provided us information for accessing the unit weâve rented. Arrival is three days out. This information is usually provided a week in advance."
Two days prior to rental I sent Lori texts at 9:45 and 12:30. She responded to the second text with access information. I had to pay the extra fee.
Again, great condo. Only complaint was getting dinged for an extra C note.
We loved the condo; everythingâs new and clean with a very fun coastal decor. Kitchen was very well equipped, plenty of dishes and utensils. Condo was stocked with paper products, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, etc. Loved the full size washer & dryer. Beds and bedding were very comfortable too. Thereâs plenty of stuff for the beach like beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella, coolers. Best of all was the view from the balcony, we actually saw dolphins one day.
The only issues we had was with the building itself. There were problems with the elevators at times. The building is not handicap accessible, there are 7 steps to get to the entrance door which makes moving in and out difficult. Also, the railings are not safe for young children, the spacing of the vertical bars are too far apart. We knew this before renting and purchased rubber meshing for the balcony when our grandchildren came.
There are a lot of repeat renters in the building and they were very friendly. We enjoyed chatting with them at the pool which was nice and well maintained. We had a wonderful time in spite of the Covid-19 virus.
Only real problem was, that the two elevators kept breaking down. There are only two of them and at least one most of the time and both a couple days at a time were down. This is our first time there but apparently theyâve had elevator problems from what we heard going on itâs third year.
