the view was so wonderful--amazing sunrises However the condo needed the following: the furnace room needed to be cleaned--there was nasty mold and dust The windows were never washed(so much for the bedroom view!) and the windows did not open. The kitchen needed more utensils and all the knives were dull. There were NO hangers in the closets.. We made a trip to Walmart to accommodate our needs which should not have been necessary Lastly we feel the condo should have had a better cleaning. Lots of grime in the corners BUT maybe coffee on the deck watching the sunrise was a good trade off ?? Priscilla
Just moved to NE Florida and exploring all it has to offer. The is quaint condo on the beach which was perfect for a couple an their small dog. it is convenient to the town, beach and historical opportunities. We would love to come back.
We had a great stay at this condo for a few days. Ver comfortable beds and clean bedding.
The access to the beach was very easy and literally a 1 minute walk through the parking garage.
The interior was nice and comfortable and unit had a brand new washer and dryer which was also very nice to have .
The only cons: No shampoo or coffee provided and it would have been nice if the unit supplied a beach umbrella . We could not find a place to rent one in the city
I had reserved this property for Spring of 2020, but oops, we all know what happened then. I was so disappointed when we had to cancel due to Covid restrictions. So when we were able to book again in 2023, I was happy to have been able to reserve this property.
When we arrived, I checked out the unit as you always do when you arrive at a place you have anticipated seeing for a long time. As I walked around the unit I was pleased with what I saw, so we went to our car to bring in our luggage and supplies for the week.
I put my cooking supplies in the kitchen. As I did, I was pleased to see that the kitchen was well stocked with dishes cookware and utensils. We had stayed in a hotel suite that was much more expensive than the condo but it wasn't equipped nearly as well.
On the surface everything was wonderful. It was only after we settled in that our satisfaction with what we found was beginning to change.
First, I should thank the owner for having everything you could ever need for a day at the beach. Chairs, an umbrella and so many things that I can't begin to tell you. The problem was that "everything" was in the master bedroom closet. There wasn't even room to put anything on the floor in the closet and there were only a couple hangers. I had fortunately brought travel hangers which remedied that issue. Everything else was put in the drawers. We moved a few beach items to the other bedroom
The first day we found dried dog poop on the area rug under the dining table. At first I thought it had been our dog but it was so dry that it couldn't have been his. We had to buy cleaner to get it off. As we cleaned it up we noticed that the whole area rug was covered in old pee stains.
When we ran the dishes, they weren't any cleaner than when we put them in the dishwasher. I checked the filter and it appeared that it had never been cleaned. Normally, you only have to rinse it off under the faucet but I had to find a brush to clean the months or years old crud off of it.
After we ran a load of laundry I saw that the rubber gasket had mold under it. It must have never been cleaned. It has what is called washing machine mold from improper cleaning or neglect.
These things may not be a deal breaker for a lot of people, but for me it upset me when I thought about the three thousand plus dollars we had spent to stay for 8 days, in what I felt was going to be a dream vacation. We get one nice vacation a year and I feel like we were cheated.
Overall great! Just was not notified we would need to buy simple amenities such as hand soap, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry detergent, & paper towels.
The condo was clean, neat, and very close to the beach. We really enjoyed the balcony & overlooking the beach. Everything was just as we expected and we would definitely stay there again.
This was our first trip to Amelia / Fernandina Beach but it won't likely be our last. The beach was great, and the condo was perfect for our family of 4.
When we first entered the unit you could see there had been a problem with their old AC unit & a smelly mold problem dehumidifiers in all rooms plywood in some windows. Unit is in a beautiful location mostly original 1985 worn out cabinets inside and out & appliances furniture was nice except for patio ..many other things need some attention.. I asked maintenance guy if he could unplug the tub because having to showering in a foot of water is just nasty & provide a can of roach spray but he never delivered we left two days early we found another place.
Beautiful ocean view and balcony. Rest of accomodation was not as good.
Wonderful balcony and ocean view. Rest of Apartment was a little shabby. None of the previously reported problems with shower or elevator, but clothes dryer did not work. Sheets and towels have seen better days. Bathroom very small. Nice array of beach toys but since we didnât know they were there we had schlepped our own.
We enjoyed our stay at this property. Itâs right on the beach with great windows so you feel like you are on the beach even when you in the condo. Itâs very convenient to restaurants and shopping in Downtown Fernandina. The fire place was a nice touch for a fall visit to the beach. We would definitely stay here again.
The one bathroom sink had a stagnant water odor when faucets ran. Drain has insect gestation with drain/sewer flies. Contact with realty rep did not get issue corrected during our visit/stay.
Some of the other reviews wrote of a dirty shower liner and no pots and pans, but we did not find that to be the case. The decor was lovely, fully stocked kitchen, comfortable linens and beds, fantastic views, great location, chairs and beach equipment, clean, and virtually everything you need. We used the stairs all week instead of the elevator and found it to be just fine but I would not recommend for those that struggle with stairs. This is an end unit on the top 3rd floor. Itâs pretty perfect with a great deck. The front room has a full bed and great for kids. Stays dark and great for naps and nighttime. The parking is weird but just be courteous and everyone will survive. Everyone in the complex was very friendly, kind, and courteous. Lots of dogs in the complex but they were all friendly. I suppose if you bring your dog on vacation they are civilized enough to travel. Ha ha. We had a great vacation and plan to go back next year! The staff at ERA were all kind and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Intermittent elevator access to third floor. We had to climbed three flights of stairs with luggage and then beach equipment several times per day for the first three days then again on days 5 and 6. Repair personnel onsite 5/7 days and reported the elevator needs replacing.
Condo Digital thermostat wall controller illegible hence we had NO AIR CONDITIONING our first night and temps reached 90 degrees because someone had set the thermostat so low before we arrived that the unit froze. With the aid of two cellphone lights and pushing several different buttons we finally saw the problem and turned off the unit at 4am. By 6am on day 2, we were able to turn on the unit and set the temp at 73 for the remainder of the week. No access to property manager after 5 on Saturdays until 9 am Sunday.
Unit had a lovely view of the ocean but was significantly smaller than photos portray. Okay for one couple and maybe a small child but no more than that as the second bedroom has room for only the full size bed and nothing else.
After seeing other options in the area and comparing prices would NOT go back to this unit.
Loved the location and proximity to beach...right on it! Parking could have been a problem if all condos were full, not a good system. Elevator could be cleaner, but it worked with no problem. Unit was overall nice..good beds, new sofa and good balcony furniture. The bathroom shower curtain and rod should be replaced. Rod rusted. Also, it would help if the shower head was replaced. These are simply, low cost things that would make a big difference.
We will return as we had a comfortable stay at this condo.
We enjoyed our stay and loved the location of this condo. The proximity to the beach was a big plus, as well as the convenience to downtown. We especially enjoyed the balcony.
The condo was clean, but it needed some TLC. Previous reviews had mentioned the rusty curtain rod and scummy shower curtain liner. Those have not been addressed and therefore gives the overall feeling of an unappealing bathroom. Underneath the kitchen sink also needs cleaning and work. Some of the pans were unusable and need replacing (perhaps we are one of the few that actually cook!).
We sincerely hope that management would act on suggestions of those who stay here and make this a 5-star property!
Positives
Spacious Balcony
Beach Frontage
Close to town for restaurants
Negatives
Balcony needs to be cleaned throughly
Tandem covered parking / used the limited uncovered parking so we would not block anyone in or be blocked in...
Bathroom sink counter large crack fixed with what appeared to be glue
Shower curtain rod rusty corner metal shower shelves rusty and in the way
Scummy shower curtain liner.
Beautiful view. The condo was comfortable enough. It might be time to put up a new shower curtain rod(rusted), maybe new towels and a couple of updates. Just a little TLC.....overall great week.
