Welcome to Carver's Cottage, your home-away-from-home!

Near the shores of beautiful Hawkins Lake, in the heart of Cariboo cottage country, you find this magical Carver's Cottage full of character nestled in the trees.

Lovingly created by an artisan wood carver as his final labor of love, the cottage has recently been refreshed and updated. Many of his carvings remain on the property today. The peaceful and relaxed setting is only enhanced by the little extras - a private porch, a firepit and a screened in gazebo.

Explore three different lakes only minutes away. Lake access for Hawkins Lake is only a stone's throw away. And the public boat launch is available at three driving minutes. Picturesque Ruth Lake offers great paddling and fishing only 10 minutes to the west, while popular Canim Lake Provincial Park with a gorgeous beach is located a mere 9 km to the east.

It was modern and rustic feel located in a country setting situated about 45 minutes from 100 mile house town. The property has very unique characteristics to find on the Carver property. This property is ideal for young couples with children or for use as a hunters/fisherman camp but to do any fishing or swimming involves driving to other destinations. Third bedroom is a bunk house and to go to the washroom from the bedrooms you had to go down outside stairs We enjoyed this property and had a good experience.

Perfectly private cabin getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at this property and our host, Remco, was very friendly and welcoming. Also, our communication was really easy with regards to clear instructions and prompt responses. The cabin was very clean with all necessary modern amenities and then some, like quality appliances, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, and even a standing filtered water machine, etc. The bathroom was lovely and the washer and dryer very handy for our 10-day stay. The property is quiet and very private. We loved relaxing on the outdoor porch under the patio lights, and the layout of the house was quite unique. We especially enjoyed the sitting room area with gas fireplace, which kept us nice'n toasty on the cooler nights. As well, the bedroom fans upstairs in the Master Bedroom were great on the warmer days. Canim Lake and the local general store are located nearby...just a short 10-15min drive from the cabin. We brought a boat with us, therefore, we spent time out on the lake, which is absolutely gorgeous and huge! All in all we really enjoyed our experience at Carver's Cabin and in this neck of the woods. Therefore, if you are looking for a lovely, private holiday in a cabin with loads of rustic charm w/out sacrificing modern conveniences, we would highly recommend it!

Traumhaft ausruhen in der Natur

Schon bei unserer Ankunft waren wir erstaunt darüber, wie liebevoll das Haus ursprünglich gebaut und später mit viel Stil renoviert und modernisiert wurde. Das Haus und der Garten sind eine Oase der Ruhe, die nur durch Tiergeräusche, wie die von u.a. Streifenhörnchen, Spechten, einem Kolibri und ab und zu von weiter entfernten Nachbarn unterbrochen wird. Uns hat im Haus an nichts gefehlt: es war u.a. ausreichend Trinkwasser vorhanden, wir konnten ausgiebig kochen und backen in der voll ausgestatteten Küche, das Internet war zuverlässig und die Betten sind sehr gut und gemütlich. Unsere Tochter hat sich riesig über den Air-Hockey-Tisch im Kinderzimmer gefreut und im Garten gab es auch noch eine große Überraschung. Der Eigentümer (Remco) sorgt sehr gut für das Haus und das Wohlergehen seiner Gäste. Er reagiert sehr schnell und zuvorkommend auf Nachrichten und hat uns schon vorab ein paar Tipps gegeben. Er hat uns überdies extra aktuelle Touristeninformation besorgt, die die Erkundung der Gegend einfach machte. Auch die Schlüsselübergabe am Ende war sehr gemütlich mit Remco. Wir haben das Haus, den Garten, die freundlichen Kanadier, die Umgebung mit den unzähligen Seen, den Wasserfällen und Wäldern genossen und uns während unseres zweiwöchigen Urlaubs grandios erholen können. Vielen, vielen Dank Erin und Remco!!! (Groetjes uit Nederland :-) )

Peaceful & Unique!

From the beginning of booking to checkout the owner was fantastic with quick communication. The place was very unique with a rustic, yet modern feel. We had everything we needed! I loved the back yard space and that there was a covered area to sit out and play games and stay away from bugs. It was well stocked and very homey. The place is absolutely beautiful and I had no issues with booking or anything during my stay! I love the history, the carvings and the being surrounded by the trees. A perfect place to reset and watch the stars! Loved it!

Getaway at Hawkins lake

Found Carver's Cottage by happenstance while looking for a place for our fishing trip. Quite a unique property and absolutely beautiful. Looking forward to going back this fall!

We love the Cariboo region of BC, it has been our home for over 50 years! The Cariboo landscape and people are truly unique.

Our own family home is a log home on Horsefly Lake, BC. For over 11 years we have been offering short term rental properties to our guests. Currently, we offer two great rental properties. Birch Haven, a lakefront cottage on Horsefly Lake, BC. And Carver's Cottage, a cabin in the woods close to Hawkins Lake, BC.

Over the years we have received 5 out of 5 star reviews from most of our guests and we always do our best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. If you have any special requests, please don't hesitate to ask.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Carver's Cottage is a unique property. It was build as a final project by an artisan wood carver, and features many carved details and beautifully carved wood art throughout. Surrounded by mature trees, this cottage offers a great little get-away from your busy life.

The cottage has been fully updated and is as comfortable as a little house. The former workshop upstairs has been transformed into a spacious and bright master bedroom.

The location is great. Travel distance from the Lower Mainland is under 6 hours and Calgary is just over 9 hours away. There are many lakes to discover in the Hawkins Lake area and lots of back country to explore.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Peace and quiet in a rural setting, but not too remote. Almost all roads to the cottage are actually paved, only the last three kilometres are gravel. Yes, it's a cottage in the woods, away from it all. But you'll find all the comforts from home, including a dishwasher.
