The Wee House is a shotgun house that is remodeled with a view of the Ohio river
This small shotgun house has a deck with a view of the Ohio river. It is newly remodeled and within walking distance to historical downtown Madison where there is shoping, several restraunts, two wineries, several bars and lots of live music. With this being a shotgun house passage to one bedroom is through another bedroom.
Adorable, historical home fully updated & a well supplied kitchen, comfortable beds and great location. Plenty of street parking. The only downside was that there is a bar directly across the street, and the crowd noise goes on until very late. But the backyard deck with the river view was a wonderful place to relax & watch the boats and barges pass by.
The house was immaculate and very well decorated. The kitchen has almost everything you need for your stay. The bathroom has all necessities including shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The owner was prompt and got us the code on arrival. We will definitely stay again.
We booked this house because of the location to the rooster tail music festival at bicentennial park. It was only about a 3 block walk. There was good communication with the property owners for arrival and departure instructions. The house was clean and beds were comfy. The only issue we had was parking. There is not a designated parking space and parking is definitely at a premium during the Regatta weekend. Once you find a spot, I suggest you keep it and walk anywhere you need to go or rent a golf cart. Overall the house was great and we would love to come back and stay again.
Charming little house in Madison, with good access to downtown. We had a great day exploring the shops and the winery and it was nice to come back to a snug little space. We did not have trouble with noise from the saloon but it seemed pretty low key despite a party weekend. Hosts had clear communication with us.
My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Wee House! It was super clean, had everything that we needed and more, beds were super comfortable, the view of the river was very nice, and the close proximity to everything that we wanted to enjoy was convenient. We would stay there again for sure!
Overall, the property was as described, clean and provided a good place to stay. It did not start out well, when despite my efforts to get an address and instructions on checking in, we still did not have that information on the day of our arrival. It was sent finally a couple hours before our check in. We did have the information upon arrival, and all went well with accessing the house. Upon entry there was mildew smell that was slightly noticeable. The house was decorated tastefully and lovely to look at, but we did feel that there was not any comfortable seating in the house. There was a futon that was very low to the floor and uncomfortable, The mattresses were also less than comfortable for a night of restful sleep. The First Street Saloon directly across the street was very busy Friday and Saturday night, making it difficult to park. Many of the patrons hung out on the street late into the evening both nights, It was not unnecessarily loud, but we were somewhat uncomfortable coming and going, with so many patrons hanging out in front of the Saloon. Overall, it a decent place to stay, but because of the things mentioned above, we would not likely stay there again,
This tiny house was adorable! A perfect spot for a stay in downtown Madison. Exactly as described, small, well thought out house had everything we needed! Well done!
Home exactly as described. Very clean, very comfortable! Perfect location for the festival and Main Street. We walked all over. Never needed a car for anything. We are hoping to stay here again!
Place was very clean-this is at the top of my list for importance in rentals. Super cute little place. Nice deck in back with seating. Quick two minute walk to river! Hosts were AWESOME. I cannot emphasize this enough. Fantastic communication, very kind. Things to be aware of, depending on your situation and needs: Must pass through one bedroom to reach the next, and no doors or curtains to give privacy. Futon only seating in living room; may be difficult to get up from if you have a bad back or bad knees. Bar directly across street; was a bit noisy on weekend, but was quiet during weeknights. Overall a great little place with close access to the riverwalk and a view of the water. Madison is wonderful, and we enjoyed our stay at Wee House for a full week!
Loved sitting out on the deck and watching the river.
We had some issues with the "list of things to do when checking out" ... We didn't do exactly as it required and were billed another $40 for things that would have taken 10 minutes to do.. I disagreed with this charge.
Les points faibles : Communication, emplacement, exactitude de lâannonce
Disappointing
Before renting this beautiful, little cottage named the Wee House, be sure to check out all 65 things listed under Amenities. We didn't. At the bottom you will find a Note: "The Wee House is located across the street from the 1st Street Saloon." Amenity? Saloons can be very noisy with the loud mufflers of motorcycles and pickups coming and going until 3AM closing and parking in front of the Wee House. Noisy patrons and loud music (including live music on the weekends) contribute to this. Occasionally a loud, heated argument will break out in the street next to your rental car, a few feet from the front door of the Wee House. We understand that none of this is under the control of the owners of the Wee House. Their refusal to refund any of the 11 days we had remaining when we felt compelled to abandon the property after one night is fully within their rights. So if you enjoy nightlife and excitement, the Wee House is perfect for you. If you value sleep and the safety and security of your family, you might want to look elsewhere.
Tea on the porch looking over the river at sunrise - the mist rising. Perfect. Close enough to main street and restaurants to find something to eat in 10 minutes but away from downtown foot traffic during the day.
There is a saloon across the street that gets busy late at night but didn't bother us. Nice little kitchen. Loved it. Clean and friendly!
This is a great little house perfect for 2-4 people. We were able to walk everywhere. The only time we drove was when we went to the hilltop (north Madison) and when we went out of town.
Being able to see the Ohio River from the kitchen and back porch was a great feature.
The owners were great to deal with. The home comes equipped with enough kitchenware to fix and eat meals. The check-in and checkout process was very simple. Madison is great town and the Wee House is the perfect place to stay.
