Extremely relaxing and convenient to everything
David met the us and was very informative and gracious. The home has everything you would want. We went to Boothbay Harbor and went whale watching one day and took the ferry to Monhegan island on another. Both great. Went to the botanical gardens in Boothbay on David’s suggestion. Fantastic! Ate at Primos, Van Loyds Cafe, Dramariscotti’s River Cafe, Ports of Italy, and Shaw’s. All great. Public
House not so much. Overall great area, house, and host.
So pleased these folks experienced many of the great diversified "adventures" of our mid coast area of Maine! It was a pleasure having them enjoy Beckoning Bay Cottage too.
This was our best HomeAway experience ever!
My best advice to anyone looking for an enchanting place on the water that is close to nearby activities is simply "Book this cottage"! The view, the location and all the quality details of this cottage made our stay absolutely wonderful. It's so incredibly satisfying to arrive at a cottage you've chosen through photos and find it not only as nice as it looks but better.....and we did! The cottage was immaculate, well equipped, had quality linens and was indeed charming. David, the owner, has taken pride in this property and is a wonderful, engaging host.
Once you stay there, you will want to return again and again. Prepare to fall in love with Beckoning Bay!
Thanks!!! So pleased when guests enjoy the Cottage...this transforms “renting” to sharing- a good feeling all around...A shared pride in both place and experience...of course great guests are a wonderful bonus too!
Great Mid Coast Maine Home
Beckoning Bay Cottage is a beautifully decorated (loads of antiques) home with everything you could want. The glass enclosed porch across the back is perfect - when not out sight seeing we spent our time relaxing there. Perfect location for exploring the mid-coast region - 2 minutes from the entrance to Rt 1 yet totally quiet and peaceful.
Great assortment of restaurants between Wiscasset and Damariscotta - head great dinners at King Eider's Pub and Damariscotta River Grill - breakfast and lunch at Crissy's - Sarah's in Wiscasset has Maine wild blueberry pie to die for.
David is a wonderful host and showed us around the house when we arrived. There was a generously stock welcoming basket on the counter.
We've been renting from VRBO for 18 years and this home has to be at the top of the list.
Clean cottage with beautiful views of Great Salt Bay
Peaceful setting with great views. Close to restaurants and activities. David was a great host!
Pleased to agree with first two points of this review and happy to accept the third!
Great house and view
Mid-Coast Maine Beauty!
We recently stayed at Beckoning Bay Cottage to celebrate our 40th anniversary. What initially attracted us was the picture of the sunroom at the back of the house which almost looked too good to be true! Well, the truth be known, it's actually even better than the pictures show and an amazing place to relax and refresh before and after a day of exploring the Mid-Coast area. The cottage was immaculately clean and provided anything and everything we could have wanted or needed.
The location of the cottage was also great - enabling us to easily travel from Freeport to Camden and visit all the quaint, little towns like Wiscasset, Damariscotta, Boothbay, and New Harbor in between. (Don't let the line at Red's Eats discourage you - just do it for the best lobster rolls in the world!) Mostly, though, when we think of location, we think of just enjoying the sunroom and back yard, complete with an outside patio (where we ate breakfast each morning), fire pit, and boat dock on the lake.
David was a wonderful host, meeting us at the cottage when we arrived to show us around and making himself available for any questions we might have. When we realized that we had left a bag at the front door, he even graciously mailed it to us right away - and followed up!
Don't hesitate to stay at this "hidden gem" of a home. We hope it will "beckon" us back many times in the future!
Wow!!! It is certainly appreciated when guests are so enthusiastic about their stay at our Cottage and visit to our mid-coast region of Maine... thanks and do come back!
