Cozy waterfront log cottage with huge outdoor living area.
Completely escape to this 100 year old oceanfront log cottage. Astonishingly cozy with a classic rustic feel but updated with a modern kitchen and amenities. This cottage is one spacious room with a queen bed and pull out couch. The well equipped kitchen is a separate room. Perfect for a couple looking for a quiet getaway or a small family in search of a seaside adventure. Enjoy the expansive deck that sits over the water at high tide. Watch Bald Eagles and Osprey fish for hours. Paddle the protected cove on the two, single-person kayaks provided for your use. Fish, swim, launch the kayaks, and stargaze from the dock. You will not find a more peaceful spot to refresh and reset.
Charming, calm, peaceful, cozy, are a few of the adjectives I would use for describing our stay at the waterfront cottage. Everything was lovely from the mesmerizing view to the homey interior.
The historic cottage is well appointed with everything you need for a summer respite. There is a large picture window that gives a beautiful waterfront view. The large deck is equipped with a table and chairs for dinning with a carryout from the Pemaquid Lobsterman's Co-op. The Adirondack chairs are perfect for your summer read. IT IS SO QUIET THERE. We are already planning our return next summer
This is the cutest little cottage with the most amazing deck and view of the cove. It could not be more peaceful. If youâre looking for a relaxing getaway on the coast then I highly recommend staying here!
The cabin is perfectly cozy and the setting is a nature-lover's delight. You can watch the sun rise from your bed, have cocktails on the enormous deck while you watch the crabs come out, leaping fish and birds galore (including a bald eagle). We loved our stay and our hosts - we encourage anyone to take advantage of a fantastic meal a short stroll up the hill when you stay. Loved it!
The peace and serenity this cabin provides makes it the perfect retreat! You will recharge your batteries surrounded by nature. This spot captures the essence of Maineâs sloganâŠâThe way life should be.â
My wife and I enjoyed our stay in this cozy, private little cabin, which looks out over the water from what is perhaps the best site in mid-coast Maine. We made liberal use of the deck for meals, reading and relaxing and explored the estuary from the two kayaks provided. The owners, who operate an event space on the property, are cordial and responsive. We look forward to coming back.
We returned to Poorhouse Cove because we loved it last August. We still love it. A perfect couples getaway in a rustic, well appointed and clean cabin. The deck is amazing.
What a delightful spot in a beautiful, historic cabin right on the water. Our hosts, Mark and Kim were stellar and we thoroughly enjoyed an exceptional meal at the curated restaurant, The Patio. Lovely!
This was a return visit and hosts Rick, Mark and Kim made us feel very welcomed.. like coming home. The setting of this cozy cottage is so serene and peaceful. We left refreshed.
Our stay was incredible. The property was in a perfect spot to watch the sunrise, spot bald eagles and seals on the harbor, and relax over a long weekend. The cabin is gorgeous, with a beautiful deck that serves as a perfect place for breakfast, lunch, and evening drinks. 15/10.
We enjoyed our stay at this little cabin. We liked the deck overlooking the water for our morning coffee. We didn't prepare any meals here other than cold breakfasts but there is a kitchen with plenty of pots and pans available. There are tons of local lobster shacks and restaurants nearby. I highly recommend visiting Pemaquid Seafood, south Bristol lobsterman's wharf and Shannon's unshelled express in Boothbay if you want great lobster. We also visited Glidden oyster farm and learned about oyster farming. Pemaquid lighthouse was also a great place to visit while you're in the area.
This cozy waterfront cabin directly on the water was a perfect getaway for my husband and I. Lots of peace and quiet, comfortable bed, free use of 2 kayaks off the private dock on the property, beautiful hiking trails less than 10 minutes drive away, and about 45 minute drive to Boothbay. Our host Rick was warm and friendly and accessible if we had any questions. We love this area of Maine and our stay was wonderful!
A peaceful, magical retreat where great blue heron hang out and an occasional seal visits. A place where sky and water greet you when you wake and soothe and entertain you throughout your stay. A quiet, secluded and charming cabin. The peninsulaâs in the area are easy to explore and steeped with history and beauty. Great food is easy to find and the locals are friendly and helpful.
In our experience this is one of the most beautiful places we have visited. The cabin on the cove was private, with an amazing view from the windows and large deck. We enjoyed the kayaks but mainly watching the tides, birds wood duck family and shooting stars. The cabin was as described, with a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable bed. A perfect couple getaway. Lots of wonderful trails and places to eat lobster.
From the moment we arrived at the cottage we fell in love with the location, the large private deck on the water and the charm of the interior. The large picture window that overlooked the deck provided an excellent opportunity
to view a living work of art. The large fireplace, fully furnished kitchen and touches of decorative items placed inside added to the homey feel. The fan provided cooling from the late morning sun. The owners were wonderful being informative and supportive. We have already made plans to return to this gem next year!!
If you want QUIET, this is the perfect place. All we could hear was the sounds of the ocean. Loved waking up to the sound of boats and sea life. At high tide the deck is actually OVER the water. You seriously canât get closer to the ocean than this. AND- they donât cheap out on the toilet paper! đ
Charming Cottage on the Water. This place has adorable vintage vibes (from the fairy land feel of the moss on the stairs to the vaulted wooden interior) but is clean and well cared for. The view across the water is lovely, and the waters are calm and quiet, making it a peaceful place to use the quality kayaks. We woke up each morning and had coffee on the expansive deck, ventured out during the day, and ended the evening dining on fresh lobster outside near the water in several of the neighboring towns. The owner is communicative and so generous to share this special spot.
We had a wonderful time here. The cabin is right on the water, and there was an abundance of wildlife to watch. The location in S Bristol was perfect for us- we have friends and family here- and like to be able to get on the water and get groceries with ease. The cabin itself is magical, and it felt like stepping inside a folk tale. The doorways are low, as is common in old Maine homes. My husband is tall, so we put bright tape up to remind him to duck- an easy fix!
Solitude, silence, and peace. If you are looking to leave the weight of the world behind, this is the place. Old world Maine is what we prefer, the wood frame and early decor of turn of the turn of the century cottages - and the way life used to be. Including before television and internet. While Iâm sure theyâll improve (the spotty) internet at this cottage - I almost prefer they donât!
This little hideaway is tucked away from neighbors - I think there are some, but you canât tell from there. The orientation of the cottage is entirely on the view of the quiet expansive cove, with its beautiful stillness, a few herons, eagles and terns, the ebb and flow of the tides, and a sailboat that never leaves.
If you need a place to think, this is it. But if you need to venture out, everything âMaineâ is within a short drive. Damariscotta for shopping, Pemaquid Light for Maineâs iconic ocean views, local lobster shacks - everywhere - even a âsecretâ restaurant close by :)
And Maine humanity is everywhere. Strike up a friendly conversation with anyone and youâll find it.
The cabin is well equipped in old Maine cottage style. It is not a âburbâ house on the water. Itâs a lovely renovated cabin with atmosphere and a view - from inside or outside on the deck. There are even kayaks available for use.
Canât thank the owners of this Paradise enough for sharing their special place. We will return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The cabin was cozy; deck over the water was incredible; great kayaking! Just as described: cozy, clean, & peaceful⊠The perfect retreat!
The Cottage on Poorhouse Cove is a place to relax and recharge. Outside, you can observe the ebb and flow of life on the Cove from the deck. For the more adventurous, take one of the kayaks out to explore the islands and shoreline of the Cove. Inside, you can ease into the couch with a book or spend the day perfecting a new recipe in the fully equipped kitchen.
