Damariscotta lakefront retreat. Beautiful sandy, shallow entry to the water perfect for kayaking and guests both young and old.
Located within five miles of local restaurants in Newcastle/Damariscotta. Remodeled by the âMaine Cabin Mastersâ. Listed as the Kayakersâ Cabin in the DIY Networks â25 Rustic Retreats from the Maine Cabin Mastersâ article.
Weather didn't cooperate much but we enjoyed our time nonetheless. Love this spot for it's proximity to the village of Damariscotta. So convenient and a cute place to stay.
My 3 girlfriends and I stayed at Luke and Lauraâs cozy lake side cabin in late June and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Newcastle area. The location was perfect, just under ten minutes from the main st area, with a ton of options to eat and shop! I highly recommend sunny side for breakfast and the shuck shack for lunch or dinner.
Loved this place. Amazing quiet location with so many water toys and activities. Had zero need to leave the whole weekend because there was so much to do there.
You can't get closer to the water. There are multiple kayaks to use. The firepit is a decent size (which is readied for use with kindling stacked). The place is kept very clean and is stocked with essentials: coffee maker (brew, as well as keurig), typical kitchen ware, bathrooms have plenty of towels. We haven't used it yet, but there's a stacked laundry wash and dryer. We'll definitely go back!
We are four adult sisters, 60+. The cabin was comfortable, had everything we needed for a good stay. Itâs located right on the water and so convenient to all the sightseeing we wanted to do. I would highly recommend as our stay far exceeded our expectations.
We staying with our 2 daughters and absolutely loved the cabin and the lake. They kayaked, paddle boarded and swam. The cabin itself was perfect for our family. I hope we are able to visit again!
This is our second visit to the "Kayakers' Cabin" and just as wonderful! It's so nice to have the option of a few day's stay as opposed to a full week which is hard to do with work. Thank you for sharing your sweet spot on my favorite Maine lake!
We loved staying here for our anniversary! Warm sunny days and gentle breezes off the lake most days. Everything is provided that you might need with some fabulous lobster and restaurants close by. Our boat tour to see the Atlantic puffins was such a treat. Laura was very accommodating and helpful. A ten out of ten!
My husband and I adore this place and plan to return. It was clean and had everything we needed (kitchen and bathroom necessities, etc.). The cabin is right on the water (it appears to be a renovated boat house), has a large fire pit, has several kayaks and paddle boards for use, and has a large deck with a grill. Also had a hammock and a porch swing. It's the perfect summer weekend getaway!
Our family of 4 had a lovely time kayaking on the lake and playing foosball and other games in the cabin. We took advantage of fun activities in the mid-coastal Maine region, as well, such as the botanical gardens, Hardy Boat Cruises, and enjoyed a couple of visits to Round Top Ice Cream. The cabin was a great little base for exploring the area as well as a wonderfully relaxing and beautiful location to enjoy. We were pleasantly surprised at how quiet the lake was during a July weekend.
It's hard to put into words how wonderful this cottage it. Literally right on the lake. The lake was frozen so we were able to get out to the middle at night and see the milky way and again in the morning to catch the sunrise. The sunsets here are equally beautiful. Lots of activity on the ice. We saw some folks ice fishing, snow machines, cross country skiers, and even a float plane landed and took off a few times right outside our window! Luke thought of everything for sure. Many board games, smart TV, portable heater, extra blankets, and everything you need to cook meals. The wood stove was an added bonus. The bed was super comfortable and all the linens were clean and soft. Do not hesitate to book this place. You'll be glad you did.
Wonderful and peaceful stay. We brought a small boat and were able to put it on the side by hand carrying it . Lots of kayaks and standup paddle boards as well as plenty of floats . Bottom half of house stays cool as it is built in to the hill. able to keep cool with fans . Great time ! Plenty of life jackets . Washer and dryer on the small side but we managed . Could have used maybe a brownie pan :) Pots and pans and kitchen stuff was well equipped. Great stay !
The cottage was perfectly positioned for the amazing lake front view. Inside the cottage was cozy and had everything we needed to cook our meals. Having two bathrooms made everyone more comfortable. The host was very accomodating and responsive. We hope to come back in the summer to swim in the lake and sit around the firepit on the shoreline. Thank you for sharing this special place.
Perfect location and size for a couple/small family getaway by the lake. The seating area outside by the fire pit was relaxing - we loved the lake view and its wildlife. We even enjoyed lunches at the table on the deck! We visited during the fall, but
a spring and/or summer visit would be amazing too! The amenities inside of the home included everything you would need for your stay. I wanted to give this location the full 5 stars, but the indoor couch/chair and primary bed could use some sprucing up, in my opinion. But overall, I would recommend this home! Wonderful location and great property management.
I stayed with my boyfriend for two nights. I am already planning a return trip with my twelve year old daughter and another trip with my girlfriends.
Just a short drive to town, property with plenty of beds, outdoor chairs, and kayaks/paddleboards makes this a fantastic retreat for couples, families, or friends.
I didnât want to leave, I was so relaxed.
