True and full oceanfront condo with a lanai (balcony) that almost hangs over the beach. See the ponds below where the turtles and the eels want to come and feed. Let the sounds of the sea make you sleep after a day of sightseeing or relaxation. The bedroom and living room face the sea, where dolphins can be seen all year round and whales in season.

The condo has a new island taste in design and comfort.

Hale Kona Kai is an intimate, absolute oceanfront complex of 39 one-bedroom condos. Located on the outskirts of Kona City, it is off the main road providing calm, ocean-view relaxation from every module. Located just south of Royal Kona Resort, excellent dining at Huggo's or Don Beachcomber's is a two-minute walk away and some other restaurants are just a pleasant stroll away. The white sand of Honl's Beach is less than a quarter-mile south and the Kona Farmer's Market half a mile north.

The complex offers an elevator that provides convenient access for all. On the ocean side, you'll find a heated saltwater swimming pool and a grill on the south end of the complex. Each floor has coin-operated washers and dryers for your use. Each condo does not have its own washer/dryer.

Each unit includes designated parking, safe WIFI, Central Air Conditioning & cable TV. Both units, like Lanais, are non-smoking and Hale Kona Kai is non-smoking.

Kona town visit

Excellent location for walking into Kona town, farmers market, shops and restaurants.Amazing sunsets and surf watching just on the lanai. Everything you need including snorkeling gear and towels. Was perfect!

Great condo!

Condo has all that is needed for a nice stay. It's walking distance to the pier and village. The view of the bay is awesome. Saw dolphins playing around. All in all, it was a great stay.

Terrible Experience

DO NOT rent this property unless you want to be severely disappointed.My wife and I have rented many properties through VRBO with very positive experiences. Unfortunately, our experience with this property was indescribable.When we arrived we noticed immediately that it was a rundown property. When we entered the the condo we where hit with a horrible musty, moldy odor. The condo was filthy. Two noisy portable air conditioners were in place and not really cooling the condo. The photos displayed on the website must have been taken several years ago as everything was very worn out.I immediately called the property manager and left a very detailed voice mail about our displeasure with the property. Being discouraged and upset we left the property and booked a room at a local hotel for the evening.Early the next morning I received a call from the property manager. He explained that the air conditioning had been out of order for the past 2 months (why didn’t they contact us about this before our arrival?). I again expressed our complete displeasure with the property and requested a full refund.I will say that the property manager was very professional and understanding of the situation and immediately issued the full refund.Fortunately my wife and I were able to book another VRBO property for same day arrival and we had a wonderful experience in Hawaii for the remainder of our stay.Mark and June G.

Nice Place

Excellent location, well-appointed and clean condo. Ample supplies, kitchen appliances, gadgets and extra towels. Mattress topper is not good. Sheets constantly pulled up, topper travels. Furnishings and decor in bedroom and living room are dated. Shower is open concept and hard to keep water from splashing out onto floor.

Cozy condo with great view of the ocean and sunsets, close walking to all the shops and restaurants in Kailua. Very nice people to work with. Cant wait to stay again!

Awesome Location

Wonderful view from the deck, over crashing waves below. Very short walk to Kona. Parking very convenient and covered. Comfortable bed and nice to wake up with a view of the ocean.

We enjoyed our stay in

We enjoyed our stay in unit 306 and intend to stay there again on our next visit. It is nice to have the little extras so one doesn't need to haul the cooler, saran wrap and all from the mainland.

The location was perfect for walking to town for dinner and experiencing the farmers market, historical buildings, and a nice small beach. There were a few items that needed attention and we let the rental company know. Otherwise, we had a nice stay.

Walkable distance to many restaurants. This is a positive, as the parking lots charge $15.00 an hour! Furnishing in this condo are very dated, but updated kitchen and bathroom are nice. Being situated right next to the roaring surf is wonderful.

Lovely holiday

Thank you for asking. Our stay in unit 306 at Hale Kona Kai was great. We had everything we needed, the location was wonderful and the staff and agency were very friendly. There was a lot to see on the Big Island and we enjoyed our vacation.

Nice and easy!

We’ve stayed at a lot of Vrbo properties and have never been to one that was as well stocked with all the amenities of home. Also had beach towels, chairs, cooler, snorkel gear, everything you need for a visit to the beach.

Kona Beach

Great location, beautiful views, tons of sea life everyday… kitchen is well stocked… beach supplies were a huge plus. Great location to HQ from as you explore the big island. Furniture (comfort) and TVs (size) could use an upgrade… amenities matter when you need a break from the sun… would be nice to have a chaise lounge on the deck or a few extras on the pool deck. Sunsets were amazing!

Hale Kona Kai

We enjoyed our stay at Hale Kona Kai. The condo is in a great location near tourist attractions, places to eat and tour operators. It's especially nice to be right on the ocean and get the beautiful sunsets every night. We enjoyed using the pool on those occasions when we didn't go to the beach. The common areas and our unit were clean and well maintained. We felt safe and comfortable at HKK and on our walks on Alii Drive. Staff at Hale Kona Kai were helpful in suggesting some of their favorite swimming and snorkeling beaches.

My wife and I stayed for

My wife and I stayed for 12 nights in unit 306. It is clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved the location and closeness to town. The pool is nice but a bit too cool for us. We saw turtles and eels in the tide pools right by the pool deck. The only negative was the people in the condo above us got up every morning at 4:30 and loudly drug furniture around. It sounded like they were practicing ballroom dancing. That was very annoying and if we get a chance to return I'd rent a condo on the top floor so we wouldn't have that problem. Other than that, we had a great stay.
