Amazing Oceanfront Condo 🐠 with Out of this World Ocean Views! 🌅 - Hale Kona Kai 203

True and Full oceanfront condo with a lanai (balcony) that almost hangs over the beach. See the ponds below where the turtle and the eels want to come and feed. Let the sounds of the sea make you sleep after a day of sightseeing or relaxation. Both the bedroom and living room face the sea, where you can see dolphins all year round and whales in season. Home to central A/C, King bed, tub/shower combo, and outdoor dining.

Hale Kona Kai is an intimate, absolute oceanfront complex of 39 one-bedroom condos. Located on the outskirts of Kona City, it is off the main road providing calm, ocean view relaxation from every device. Located just south of Royal Kona Resort, excellent dining at Huggo's or Don Beachcomber's is a two-minute walk away and other restaurants are just a fun stroll away. The white sand of Honl's Beach is less than a quarter mile south and the Kona Farmer's Market half a mile north.

The complex offers an elevator that provides convenient access for all. On the ocean side, you'll find a heated salt water swimming pool and a grill on the south end of the complex. There are laundry machines available on each level.

Each unit includes designated parking, safe WIFI, & cable TV. Both units, like Lanais, are non-smoking and Hale Kona Kai is non-smoking. Each floor has coin-operated washers and dryers for your use. Each condo does not have its own washer/dryer.

Overall this is a very nice unit overlooking the ocean, and is within walking distance of Ali'i drive where there are lots of shops and dining options. Check-in and location instructions were easy to follow. I would stay again at this unit.

Location is 5 stars! Can’t wait to return someday. Condo has all you need and beach chairs, boogie board, coolers and some snacks were a nice touch. Was nice to have some non perishables in the kitchen as well.

The waves break right outside of your patio

The interior might be a bit dated but works fine. The view is breathtaking. We could’ve just sat on the balcony the entire week. I would totally do it again.

Multiple stays

We’ve stayed here multiple times because it’s easy walking distance to the tourist part of Alli’i Drive. It’s also right on the water and the views are completely unobstructed. It’s an older property, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. That doesn’t bother us at all, and we’ll continue to stay here.

We booked this unit for January 24-27, 2026, but unfortunately only stayed one night before relocating. We received a full refund for the remaining three nights. We are frankly mystified by all the positive reviews. The unit showed significant wear and needs lots of attention–the building dates to 1972, according to real estate listings. The central AC is not operational, and the portable swamp cooler (bedroom only) was incredibly loud and ineffective, making sleep difficult. We noticed a persistent musty odor, possibly from visible mold and rust under the bathroom sink. General maintenance issues included chipped paint, rust on fixtures and throughout the unit, worn cushions, broken closet doors, and other items needing repair. The unit needs a significant remodel, including new flooring. The bed is adequate. Both TVs worked properly. Kitchen and bathroom worked as expected. The view from the deck is great. The unit sits directly over the rocks, so the surf is extremely loud even with doors closed—something to consider if you're noise-sensitive. The location has potential, but the unit's current condition did not meet our expectations given the price point. We do not recommend this property in its current state.

This place was amazing! You're right on the water, have all kitchen utensils and the started us off with complimentary 100% Kona coffee! We enjoyed most every sunset with wine on the balcony. Best value in Kona.

Beautiful Ocean View and Great Location!

We enjoyed spending time on the lanai to dine, watch the sunset, and have a nightcap under the moon. The lanai practically hangs out over the lava rocks and the ocean waves are so peaceful. The location is convenient to shopping and restaurants including Quinns Almost By the Sea which is a huge Green Bay Packers bar. The building is older but parking is free, there is a gas grill on the property, the kitchen had everything we needed, and you can’t beat the views. We would definitely stay here again.

Our stay was great. The location had good access to all the touristy Places. I will see the property manager was outstanding and provided anything we needed. The only issue we had was a day of turned off water and no power but we just planned around it and it worked out fine

This was a college graduation present. We always stay at Hale Kona Kai. The room was clean well stocked and the views are great. Except for the unfortunate hot water issue it was an amazing week, like all the other times we have stayed at Hale Kona Kai

Amazing vacation!

The room was impeccably clean upon our arrival and well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. The staff was very courteous. It was so peaceful and the views are absolutely fabulous! You are right on the water, the sunsets and sounds of the ocean were amazing! We saw turtles and eels right from the lanai. We were very pleased with our stay here and look forward to staying here again soon. The coffee was great! We will definitely be back soon!

A perfect location!

The location was amazing with a perfect view of the ocean. The place was well equipped with all the amenities you need for cooking to snorkeling. They thought of everything, except the cheese grater :) The property managers were very friendly and helpful. Trip of a lifetime! Thank you!
