Great place for a family. Convenient to Ausable Chasm, some nice restaurants and a great state day use facility. Great fenced yard and there were sâmore sticks which was convenient. Everything felt very clean and the check in was very easy. It was very quiet inside and the WiFi worked very well for streaming Netflix.
Had everything we needed and more. Nice fenced yard, spotless inside, great location. Owner was very responsive when notified supplies on a few paper products were running low. The donuts she left from the local bakery where an unexpected and yummy delightful surprise! Perfect place to explore Ausable Chasm from. Had a wonderful meal at the Mariner Restaurant just up the road.
We were in town for a wedding and amongst all the stress & busy fun, it was so nice to come back to our own comfortable space that had everything we needed. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed his stay here as well in the fully fenced in backyard area! Host was very kind and allowed us to check in early after our long drive through the night. Space was clean aside from the occasional ants and stuff, but thatâs to be expected traveling to the ADKs. We had a great time staying, it was perfect for us!
Excellent location. Close to Lake Champlain. Many trails and other attractions close by. Very large kitchen with most tools needed to prepare a meal. Pleasant living room with electric fireplace heater that made space warm and inviting. Well insulated house. Did not hear traffic or weather noise. Only negative is the strong sulfur smell from well water which we never got used to in spite of tips from management. Decided to buy water for drinking and cooking.
On the check-in instructions the host noted a sulphuric odor when running water but not to worry - water would be good to drink and bathe with.
We got in late and were tired and hungry. Opening the door we were hit with a smell that wasnât sulphur. It smelled more like a dead mouse. Turn the water on and, as the host noted, the sulphur smell was there, too. The drain in the bathroom sink wouldnât drain because of hair. The coffee maker was broken as was the toaster. Bed was nice but it was not a restful night. We left at 9 the next morning even though we had paid for another day. I contacted the host with the noted maintenance issues. She was courteous with her reply, however she did not offer any sort of refund.
We were given the wrong entry code for the door. That was not fun. The pots and pans provided were corroded non-stick, which we would not use. The "slight sulpher smell" to the water was very pronounced. We chose not to drink it, and bought bottled water. The garbage was not picked up on Tuesday. There was broken glass in the dog yard. There was a considerable amount of garbage on the property - in the driveway and in the front yard. On the plus side, there were ample towels and blankets. The local walks were terrific. We got to watch the eclipse from the front yard.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was very cozy and we had everything we needed. It was neat, clean, and comfortable. We had one minor issue and it was addressed quickly. We look
We chose this cottage to visit our nearby son and his family. The interior is cozy and cheerful and a great place for our â3 Kingsâ celebration with our 3 grandkidsâŠ. 1 of our grandchildren spent 1 night with us⊠it was her first ever sleep over! ⊠very happy memoriesâșïž!
We did not bring a pet, but if you are looking for a dog-friendly cottage, your pooch couldnât ask for a more welcoming spot!!
We did have an âoperator -errorâ problem with the tv but the manager of cheerful cottage walked us through the issue with care, concern and yes, cheerfulness!!
Word or two re human comfortsâŠ. if you are short, bring a step stool or a willing tall personâŠ. top kitchen cabinets are very highâŠ.. beds were very comfy but mattresses were quite soft⊠something to consider if back pain is an issueâŠ.
Hope this helps âŠ.
Had a great time in the True North Cottage! Great home base for exploring the Adirondacks. All the comforts of home while having fun in the outdoors too.
Overall solid experience but lame getting dinged an extra $42 for "missing coasters" and leaving a blanket outside. We also left items. While we appreciate the hosts mailing them back, we were charged minimum wage for 2 hours "for going to the post office to get the right box." But, hey, the location with its back yard and Lake Champlain were stellar!
We had a great stay in this home and town. We loved that we could walk to the nature preserve nearby and did so twice each day. We were grateful that the owner allowed us to bring our dog. The town was great. Quiet and had two great breweries with good food and beer and fun things to do with our kids. Great hikes nearby too. The owner left a nice booklet of places to go and things to do.l The only reason we didn't give all five stars for location is that the house is right on a busy road which feels little less like we are away in the woods/mountains but other than that the house was great. The neighbor has a beautiful horse which made it feel more rural too.
We loved staying here! The house was spotlessly clean and very cute and comfortable. The host was extremely communicative and kind. We'd love to come back one day, and it's nice to know that if we ever get a dog, we'd be able it bring them along!
Lovely property, lots of wonderful outdoor space, clean, organized, accessible owners. PLUS - hummingbirds, a nearby marsh with great blue herons and so many frogs! Swimming in Lake Champlain, hiking in many places, s'mores at the firepit in the back yard. Just a joyous and fun experience.
Lovely area, great amenities! Very close to major attractions. However, owner expects you to clean the house as well as you found it even though you pay a cleaning fee. Strip linen, wash dishes, sign out of tvs, start washer and dryer for paid cleaning service, lock all windows, which can take up time out of your visit. Seems redundant if the guest pays for cleaning already. And owner doesnât state specifically not all pets welcome ONLY DOGS, not totally clear from ad.
We had a wonderful long weekend! The house is charming with lots of cute details throughout. The location is convenient to access some of the incredible outdoor adventures that the area has to offer.
