The A/C went out at midnight on our second night. Very hot air was blowing out regardless of what setting we had the thermostat on. Had to turn it off at the breaker box. Called the ânumberâ, No solution was offered by local operations manager. After suffering through the night I asked for fans that were delivered by afternoon. Despite many calls, texts and chats with many representatives no one ever followed up with us to let us know what, if anything, was been done. Communication was terrible. Finally after asking for a supervisor, I spoke to Michael, around 5:45 the next evening , who finally got things in motion. Then another âlocal managerâ called me around 6:45. The A/C was finally working correctly when we returned around 9:15. It seems our report just got passed around and around with no one actually working on it. No one ever called to let us know what was being done. Itâs so frustrating when you pay for a unit with A/C for our vacation and spend time trying to get a repairman to repair it and no one within Vacasa seemed to care, until I finally reached Michael.
property is nice, very busy with children. unit is nice, lights did not work in kitchen, no problems overall. could have been cleaned a little better - but overall a good place
The entire home was wonderful! well stocked with cooking supplies, plenty of covers and towels. It was the perfect vacation getaway. We will book again!
Condo is perfect for a beach vacation. Great ocean view. Quick walk down to the beach. Condo stocked with all basic necessities (along with lots of Tupperware for packing food into your cooler!). Lots of great towel hang bars for wet swim suits or towels.
We had never been to HH before this trip so we were excited to see this place and enjoy. The unit was mostly ok. I had noticed after grabbing several dirty dishes from the cabinet that it seems maybe dishes had been put back dirty. I had to rewash most dishes in the cupboard. The guest room and bathroom were nice for my daughter besides maybe having better curtains to cut out the light from the hallway since it is the front bedroom. The master bedroom mattress is by far THE WORST thing to sleep on. I can't believe with all these bad reviews on the mattress that they did not replace it. I can sleep on a lot of things but this is noisy, hard as a rock, and the sheets felt like I had tracked sand in on my feet! One night I had to get up to be sure there weren't sand fleas or other bugs in the bed. The patio furniture is ok...nothing to write home about. All in all if it wasn't for the easy beach access and pool then this unit would not have been tolerable.
My family enjoyed our most recent trip to Hilton Head Island. We have been 3 times in the last four years and stayed at a different resort each time. This was our favorite so far. The condo was nicely updated and convenient to the pool and oceanfront.
There were plenty of linens, towels, pillows for comfort and enough dishes, pots and pans for our family of four to cook and eat in at every meal. We enjoyed the pool and ocean every day of our vacation. And I especially enjoyed the scenic view from the balcony.

Of course the King bed squeaked like everyone else states, doubt that will ever be fixed. Broken blinds shoved behind master bed, not one coffee cup matches, crockery in kitchen so hodge podge, DOG HAIR EVERYWHERE (thought this was no pet unit???), caked on all blankets and under tables. I'd suggest washing all bedding and linens. The cleaning at the complex is always ehh. We've been staying at Captains Walk condos for many years and I can assure anyone renting this or anther the cleaning will alway be subpar. But the location and proximity to the beach you can't beat. So if you can get over the outdated furnishings and the expected cleanliness, this place is ok. VACASA was quick to respond, check in was easy.
I wrote a review to Vacassa whereas they represented this rental for VBRO. My experience with Vacassa was terrible. We had issues that needed to be addressed that went unanswered the entire stay. We were unable to access the beach gate because the code that was emailed to us upon check in only worked that day. We had to walk down the beach with our stuff and go thru the Marriott and down the street back to the property and access it from the road. As for this unit, it is filthy dirty. The kitchen had water all over the floor when we arrived. It seemed the freezer door had been left ajar prior to our rental. The coffee pot is worse than anything you can find in a landfill. The one pan we used had dried up pasta stuck all over the bottom. The master bed mattress squeaks loudly with every move. The master bath toilet seat is almost falling off. The outdoor patio furniture, 2 pieces, a chair and lounger look like someone got them from the landfill when they went there for the coffee pot. All in all, very disappointing. I have stayed at Captains Walk in the past and I love the property and the location but this was one of the worse experiences with VBRO/Vacassa ever!
Nice location with pool and easy beach location. Creaky Master bed needs new box spring. Vertical blinds in all rooms need replacement. Needs Glassware, full-length mirror in 2nd bath, new patio screens, and more than one dish towel.
If they add new beds and better sheets and pillows this would be rated a 10. Itâs time to upgrade these items for a premium property. There have been multiple posts on this issue. Everything else was great.

The 2 Bed, 2 bath unit was nice space; the beach access was convenient; the elevator worked (we had booked Windsor Place but their elevator was on the fritz). Overall, Captain's Walk 437 earns only 4 stars since the dryer takes forever (like two hours...) to dry clothing and the king-sized bed squeaks like it's about to collapse every time the bed's occupant moves. These issues have been noted in previous reviews; comments suggested these complaints would be addressed; surprisingly, the issues have not been fixed. Did it ruin my visit? of course not, but the daily aggravation is worth noting and the dryer and bed should be fixed.
We really enjoyed the condo at Captain's Walk for a relaxing trip for my husband & I. We loved the location and the views of the ocean & pool. The condo was very well stocked and had everything we needed for our stay. The only issue was the king bed in the master bedroom is very squeaky! If you are a light sleeper, it can possibly wake you up when somebody moves during the night. Not a big deal for us but we did notice it. Everything was clean on our arrival and will definitely rent this unit again.
My husband, 5 year old daughter and parents enjoyed our stay! The view of the ocean is perfect, the Dunes buggy transportation was so convenient and we found plenty of family activities within a short bike ride or car ride away!
One of the things that we noticed from previous people who stayed at this unit was the constant complaints of the king bed being uncomfortable and noisy. This was 100% accurate, unfortunately. I figured they changed out the mattress since so many people were unhappy about it. It was very disappointing.
The other issue we had was that we pay a cleaning fee but the unit was not cleaned properly. There was food on/in the sofa, the floors had food on them still and the shower heads were covered in product/ film. The Vacasa team did ask us if they could make it right and send someone, but my family decided to just clean ourselves because we were already unpacked and trying to settle in. But they did respond quickly. The on-site pool is great to take a break from the ocean, it doesnât get cleaned and gets crowded but our daughter enjoyed it!
I didnât see a point of going to the welcome center to pick up parking passes(we didnât have a car and costs more for Uber to travel there.) maybe just keep passes and welcome packet on the counter of the unit?
I would stay here again, even at this unit if the king mattress is repaired!
While the view and configuration of the property were exactly as advertised, the property was both unsanitary and dirty, with bug issues, upon our arrival. To their credit, however, once the property management team was contacted, they took immediate steps to try and correct the serious cleanliness issues. Unfortunately, the first couple of days in particular were not a pleasant experience.
Beautiful ocean front view! Condo was clean and very comfortable. Had to call maintenance to repair disposal and they were quick to respond. Great vacation!
