This is our 3rd stay at Lily Pond, and as always we found the house clean, well appointed and perfect for our needs... Claire is a responsive host and a pleasure to do business with!
We had a terrific stay in this comfortable home, tucked away in a cul-de-sac with views of pond through the trees. Near enough to all our favorite beaches and close to great biking trails. We didn't have time to paddle on the pond...next time!
Dryer works! Not well-ventilated but we were able to do laundry. Per reviews, the cottage can use a facelift but worked for our needs and actually mitigated stress with young kids given less pressure to keep it pristine. We did not use the basement space. Biggest issue was air conditioners need a cleaning, as there is presence of mold. Overall solid communication and check-in instructions. Be aware when booking that linens are not provided - we brought pillows, sheets and blankets.
Outstanding location! House is charming. Close to beautiful beaches, shopping, mini golf, restaurants, and more. On top of 5 star par 3 course, almost next door to full size course. Yard is huge, kids and adults enjoyed bocce, catch, swings, and more. Patio and porch are relaxing and comfortable. Fire pit a definite plus. Pond is a two minute walk from the front yard and the fishing is fantastic! Games, coloring books and crayons provided.
Would advise bringing an air mattress if you plan on sleeping on the fold out couch downstairs.
Ages 2 to 70 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
I would not recommend. The house is not well maintained for a rental, and we left early because of the conditions. I would be embarrassed to rent out this house.
Due to character limits on reviews, these were the biggest issues, but there were many others that should be addressed.
- Dryer â The owner knew the dryer was broken and did not inform us of this ahead of time. The electrician came during our stay and it still wasnât working when we left.
- Cleanliness â there was mildew on the ceiling of the bathroom, pizza in the oven, and no dustpan or vacuum to clean.
- General Care: The wallpaper was peeling, the paint was chipping throughout the house. Lamps were broken or missing lightbulbs. No ice maker. No ironing board. Very basic cable.
The description says it has 4 bedrooms; one is not a bedroom. It is the âfamily roomâ in the basement. The basement was so dank, we looked down there when we arrived and then locked the door for the rest of the trip.
There was no way (that we found) to rent canoes or paddleboats for the pond; just for the larger bodies of water around the Cape. The path to the pond had a lot of poison ivy, and the actual pond access was about 6 feet wide. I would not let my children swim there â there was too much overgrowth and the water was very murky.
The house did have a big backyard for the kids to run around in, and the swing set was good. The location was great for what we needed it for.
Overall, though, I would not recommend this location.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Lily Pond House. However, there are some considerations for future guests. If you have allergies aggravated by a musty, damp environment, you may want to avoid using the basement pull-out couch. I would also recommend bringing your own pillows as the ones provided at the house are overdue for replacement. The house would benefit from a deep clean and some updates, although these issues did not greatly affect our stay. Our primary disappointment was the non-functional dryer. Having a washer and dryer was a top priority for us, so it was disheartening to discover that this has been an ongoing problem, of which we were not informed beforehand. Additionally, the absence of hot water in the outdoor shower was a letdown. Despite these setbacks, Claire was very responsive, and the property manager, Joan, was a delight.
Great location; easy to get to beaches, stores, restaurants, attractions, movie theater, golfing, bike trail, etc. Clean house, spacious yard, sleeps 6-8 people comfortably. Quiet & peaceful setting!
Good house located near all the activities we planned on both the bay and ocean side of the cape. Beautiful pond, large backyard for kids. Clean and convenient. Good internet.
This was the 2nd time my fishing buddies and I stayed here, and have found it perfect for our needs! The house is well appointed and comfortable.. the grounds are spacious, quite and private.. and the pond is packed with Bass!
A lovely older Cape home in a great location.. House was clean and well appointed.. The grounds are spacious and well kept.. the pond in back is LOADED with bass!
My family and I had a fantastic time at Lily Pond! The house was even better than expected, with a nice sized living room upstairs and a perfect table for breakfast and puzzle making. The steps and path down to the water were accessible and the fishing was great! The yard was a good size and had a great playset for kids. With so many beaches, ponds, restaurants, and shops nearby the area was perfect! Claire was very responsive and helpful. I'd definitely recommend Lily Pond!
I donât usually write reviews, but I thought I would share so perhaps the owners would consider supplying a few more items. They did not supply any bed sheets, pillow cases, towels, kitchen towels, spices, trash bags. They have 1 full and 4 twin beds. I donât even own 4 sets of twin sheets. I felt like I shouldnât have to buy sheets in order to stay somewhere for 1 week. Sheets and towels are basic and SHOULD ALWAYS be provided. They also had many check out cleaning requirements including wiping down all surfaces in kitchen and bathrooms, sweeping all the floors (dustpan not provided), Wiping down the refrigerator, cleaning and putting away all dishes and making all the beds. I am all for being respectful and leaving a house in good condition, but I ended up spending hours in the morning cleaning. I didnât even have a dust pan or towel to dry the dishes. I think the owners should consider supplying a few more things if they are going to charge over $200 a night. Just a thought. I would not go back and would not recommend especially if someone was flying into the cape.
We stayed during a peak week during the summer. We thought the layout of the house was perfect for our crew and the kitchen/ dining area really attracted us to the house. The backyard was HUGE and the fire pit was a nice surprise.
Any questions we had, Claire was accessible and rapid with help.
Only things we didn't realize when setting up rental were that the house is not allergy friendly, there was presence of dander and cleaning supplies for such in the laundry area. Also, the water was not accessible in the front unless you had water shoes or better yet, fishing waiters...
