Cinema, library, and beautifully decorated GII listed house in medieval village
36 and The Roxy is a riot of colour and fabrics with a mix of antique and C20th furniture, art and culture, and a thoroughly modern kitchen with a big table for convivial meals in this historic Georgian inn. Play pool, browse the library, watch movies in the 1930s cinema, barbecue and then chat in the courtyard well into the night under the fairy lights. Walk from the door into the Mendips, visit nearby Wells, Frome, Bruton and Glastonbury or pop into the local, The Lamb, for a pint of Butcombe.
It was such a pleasure to stay at 36 and the Roxy. The photos online are beautiful but still donât do the house itâs true justice. The rooms, decor and amenities were all fantastic and set in a quaint village.
The hosts were kind enough to set up a cot for us and communication was easy.
We were able to enjoy the log burner, pool table, tennis table and cinema!! We could have stayed much longer and wished we had!
Thank you for having us at your fantastic property.
We had the most amazing long weekend. The house is absolutely stunning and filled with all the home comforts we needed plus more! The decor is amazing, we sometimes felt like we were in a Wes Anderson movie, the attention to detail in each room is just spot on and made our stay feel even more special. We were lucky to have great weather so got to enjoy breakfasts in the courtyard. The cinema, wow! We had so much fun watching a movie on our first night. The location was great, we hired bikes and enjoyed a day of cycling and ended the day with a meal at The Lamb pub (a 2min walk from the house). The communication from Gemma was great throughout. I canât recommend this place enough and will def be booking again! Thank you!
36 & Roxy (the cinema) exceeded all of our expectations, the house does not disapoint. Gemma and Bash have achieved a unique place to stay which is warm and homely while providing plenty of space to entertain. The house and cinema have a story of their own, I could not recommend a stay here strongly enough. Gemma was an outstanding host.
Bash, a furniture maker, and Gemma, a print maker (you'll see lots of examples of her work inside) did all the restoration of No.36 to create a beautiful space for families and friends to come together. They both have their studios here and will greet you.
