Beautiful property, exceptional views, challenges contacting the host after arrival
What we liked:
âą The condo is very nice and had plenty of room for the two of us
âą Plenty of storage for our belongings
âą The bed and furniture were comfortable
âą There was a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and washing machine in the apartment
âą The building is well maintained and in a great location across from the Malagueta Beach
âą The view from the balcony was spectacular â we never tired of the view and spent a lot of time there watching beachgoers, listening to live music played on the beach, and watching cruise ships arrive and leave the port
âą The photos on the VRBO site accurately represent the apartment
What we didnât like:
âą We were told to go to the office to pick up keys to the apartment. This was misleading; there is no office. We had several questions for the office personnel when we arrived there, but were surprised to find no office at the address we were given. Instead, there were 5 or 6 key holders built into a wall at the âofficeâ address. This is what we were sent for instructions to get the keys:
âą We arrived late Saturday night so it was hard to see the numbers we were given for our key box, but were eventually able to retrieve them
âą The âofficeâ is located about nearly a mile (about 5,000 feet) from the apartment. So if youâre arriving from the airport and have luggage, it is best to hire a taxi to bring you there, get the key, and then go to the apartment; especially if youâre arriving late in the day when itâs dark.
âą There was only one set of keys available. This was inconvenient for us as you need a key to enter the building and to open the apartment door. If either of us needed to go outside to the store or some other errand, the other had to remain in the room or theyâd be locked out
âą There were no instructions on how to connect to the internet in the apartment, so we were unable to use the internet to contact the hosts with our questions/issues, one of which was how to connect to the internet
âą We tried to contact the hosts Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to respond to a number of questions we had. And because we didnât have internet access, we had to enable our cell phone to call them several time and leave messages using the number posted on our front door, send several e-mails to them via VRBO, and to send several e-mails to them using the address posted on our front door. It took three days to get a reply from the host. When they finally responded, the host said they have âreduced hoursâ (none) on weekends.
