Built circa 1926 and originally owned by the Stelzig family of the famed leather and saddlery business, this unit is on the second floor of a 4-plex set on a unique brick street in the heart of Montrose.

A historical building, the Stelzig House is in walking distance to some of Houston's best restaurants, bars, and cultural attractions.

Full kitchen, bathroom with bathtub, one bedroom with King bed, and shared washer/dryer. Everything you need for your stay.

Was nice

Few issues gaining access but eventually resolved. Remotes to both televisions were missing. Owner didn’t know where to find them so no tv access for the weekend. Overall, was a good place to stay and convenient

Not a 2 BD, not enough linens, not enough numbers

The unit was okay, and the location was good for us, but it is not a 2Bd as advertised, and we were unable to retrieve the key from the lockbox because the code furnished had only 3 digits, while the lockbox needed 4 numbers. The unit door was unlocked upon arrival, which was alarming, but enabled us to discover that the unit was only 1 bedroom, with a sleeper sofa in the living room with no bedding. We *might* have gritted our teeth and put up with the lack of second bedroom if it had been possible for the 3rd adult in our party to use the sofabed, if the lockbox had worked as intended, and if the unit had been locked upon arrival, but the combination of all 3 major issues made it impossible. We wound up sleeping on couches at a nearby family member's place. I am still waiting to hear from VRBO about a refund, and the property owner never even acknowledged that we didn't stay. We just got a canned 'we hope you enjoyed your stay' email afterwards.

We liked the property. It could use an update but was comfortable. The plane traffic noisy.

No problems, the manager communicated with us and checked in a couple times to be sure all was good.

Quaint and Comfortable

The bed and pillows were very comfy Area is quiet and street is pretty! Feels very quaint and historical. It’s a pretty spacious place. There are lots of outlets. There’s a filtered water pitcher in the fridge, that was nice! We loved relaxing in the evening while watching TV in the living room. Charles was very nice and responsive to any inquires. If you want a quiet, decent place, and don’t need bells and extras, this is perfect. The not so good: Bathroom is a little shabby and there appears to be water damage around the base of the tub and floor. Paint is peeling on the walls in several places and there is a noticeable crack around wall and tub base. I didn’t get close enough to see if there was mold, but I think its just old! But the building WAS built almost a hundred years ago! So it still gets my vote! Bring extra blankets, or maybe request some? There is only one very thin cotton blanket on the bed and we would have loved an extra blanket. The place itself is quiet, but because the road is brick, it’s loud when cars go through. We used a sound machine at night and it drowned it out perfectly.

A nice stay

My friend and I stayed for one night and everything went smoothly with communication with the host, cleanliness of the rooms, and general stay. The location is a nice and quiet area, and is walking distance to several restaurants and shops. We felt safe and walked to some bars and to the voodoo donuts at night. Would recommend this to a friend.

Comfy place in Montrose, Houston

A roomy apartment in the hip Houston Montrose Neighborhood. A bit shabby, but very clean and close to great restaurants. Very quiet and well equipped. Nice bedroom with lots of light!

Wonderful neighborhood

The neighborhood was lovely, the apartment is in a classic old building, and the place is large an roomy. The only downside is that it an old, worn place, getting close to becoming shabby. It could really use a good coat of paint, especially outside the unit's front door; and a handyman should fix the various doors that no longer latch closed. If the aging and wear could be improved, it would really be a great place.

Absolutely charming

The flat was bigger than I expected and extremely charming. The furniture is high quality vintage stuff and the neighborhood is this cute place with brick streets that's very quiet but close to downtown. Would definitely return.

Great location, unique property

The property is as advertised. The location is fantastic and the unit itself is well furnished, quaint and feels as if one is taking a step back in time. Although I didn't have time on this trip to write, the desk set up in the bedroom is inspiring. The neighborhood is quiet and the brick street in front is unique. The property manager was very attentive and followed up during my stay. The only 2 issues were that the walls are a bit on the thinner side as a neighbor was up early chatting on the phone, which prevented me from sleeping more as I could clearly hear the conversation. Also, there was an odor coming from the sink and the garbage disposal was not functioning, I had to clean out the inside of the sink, which was not pleasant, but solved the problem. These 2 issues are why I am giving the place 4 stars, although I would prefer to give it 4.5 stars.
