Even though it was windy cold and rainy, we still had a wondeful stay at this cozy, clean, comfortable home. The hot tub was lovely and the beach beautiful
Our trip was a lot of fun. You had everything we needed. We were grateful for that. The only problem was that the couch was way too small. Overall a five had a fabulous time. We would love to use this condo again.
This is such a beautiful hidden gem in the Monterey area. Plenty of bedding and towels. Kitchen well stocked. Enjoyed the hot tub. Daniel was an amazing host. We reached out about a few things and he was easily reached and available to help immediately.
My wife and I stayed here over the holidays, and overall really enjoyed ourselves. This area is one of our favorites to go visit. The Monterey Peninsula offers so much - great food, stunning coastal scenery and plenty of activities year round; all served up at that west coast pace of life.
This property - the location, the quiet neighborhood and the access to the beach are 5 star all day long. The views, the sound of the waves on the beach... All right there and worthy of a sixth star!!!
The house itself? Had a couple of opportunities. Nothing that was individually off-putting, but a handful of things that fell below what should have been a five star setup; and I would assume that most is the opportunity of the property management company.
When arrived, the cleanliness and readiness for new arrivals was... 3 star. Simple things really:
- Coffee maker was COVERED in mold
- There wasn't a single wash cloth in the house
- One hand towel to share across the bathrooms
- The TV remotes were sticky and one was missing the battery cover to it.
- General cleanliness was okay.
- Half the light bulbs in the house were burnt out. Literally about half - not exaggerating.
- Kitchen was lacking a bit in supplies. Nothing serious, but we had to make an extra trip to the store to get a few things extra.
- The faucets in the bathroom were missing pieces
- Toilet in one of the bathrooms needs a new flapper as it was running all the time.
All of these are relatively small things. But when paying nearly $600 a night, you would have expectation of truly hotel basics to be in place. Didn't ruin a trip, but was a bit disappointed with some of these details that were lacking.
Again - location was amazing; house, a bit lacking in maintenance. Literally one day and a few hundred bucks at Home Depot and everything is back where it should be.
We will come back to this area, but may look elsewhere for a stay first.
The house and location were perfect for our family of 4. The added bonus was the hot tub with the partial view of the ocean. Sitting outside in the hot tub star gazing and listening to the waves crash was a highlight.
Great place to just view the beach and to travel to Monterey Bay Aquarium or your favorite place to see or visit. All amenities were available and the place is beautifully decorated. Very much enjoyed our stay.
Overall, we had a great stay at this property. We enjoyed long walks on the beach, using the hot tub, and visiting the cute local towns! It is very clean, but a little dated. Overall we would definitely stay here again.
I stayed at Monterey Dunes almost every summer growing up in the 90s and early 00s, and we love it so much there. I was so excited to come back! This unit is completely updated (new floors, kitchen, windows), and is SO beautiful. It was clean with plenty of towels and amenities in the bathrooms. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for cooking. The views just cannot be beat (sunsets from the front room or deck are absolutely amazing). Walks on the beach are quiet and peaceful. The clubhouse is a short walk and has a large heated pool and spa, which my 3 year old daughter LOVED. We will definitely be back!!
We could walk out to the ocean barefoot and spray the sand from our feet with water when we returned. Need I say more. Definitely on everyoneâs bucket list.
Yes, PGE had an electrical outtage but these things happen.
This home turned out to be a nice place for our vacation; it is not particularly close to Monterey or the Carmel area (+25 minute drive), but once you get there, it is a pretty location on Monterey Bay where we were able to see whales spouting and breaching from the back windows. The house was clean and nicely furnished. Only one of the three bedrooms had an en-suite bathroom, the other two share one off the hall. There is a hot tub on the deck, but it was not functioning properly. It's a short drive or fairly long walk to get to the community pool/hot tub. The owner gave good recommendations on dining options.
Had a fun time at this location. Needs a little love though. Many blinds are broken and we had no paper towels. Made it tricky to cook meals. Beautiful sunsets though!
We had a great stay and enjoyed our time here. Although the unit was somewhat dated, it was clean, bright and comfortable. The hot tub was clean and a great temperature, however, the jets in the were a little weak and wonky. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied. I didnât realize one of the bedrooms was DIRECTLY adjacent to the kitchen which was unfortunate. There were some issues with WiFi,but the home owner helped to deal with them. One blind in the living room was missing which made it uncomfortably bright when the sun was at a certain angle. The cleaning supplies on the front porch were unsightly.
We felt an immediate calm upon arriving. From the securely gated entry, to the pristine condition of the home, bliss was immediate. The bedding was plush, and the amenities were top of the line. We loved every inch of this quintessential beach house. My only negative feedback would be the discomfort of the master bed mattress. The other beds were super comfy, and I ended up sleeping with one of my younger daughters, to get a good nights sleep. We will absolutely be returning yearly.
Did not think I would be doing house cleaning upon arrival. Couch cushions were filthy. Housekeeper knew they were dirty prior to our arrival yet we still had dirty cushions. Counter tops needed to be wiped down they were dirty. Couch had sand under cushions. Fridge had sand inside fridge. Left over toys from previous guest under the couch. Skylights filled with cobwebs. Broken knob in master bath. For $1000 a night it is not worth the money. The owner has had a chance to make things right and has not. Best advice is you can find somewhere much better to stay!
We really enjoyed how accessible this place is, because our mom uses a walker. It is easy to get to the boardwalk. It is well-appointed and Daniel is responsive. It is a short drive to Monterey, Carmel and Point Lobos. I kayaked at Moss Landing and saw sea otters, harbor seals, pelicans, cormorants and gulls. It is interesting to see the surrounding agricultural lands. Not great bird-watching from the condo. You need to walk over the dune to see the waves but then you can walk forever on the beach. All in all a very nice vacation!
The home was just as described. We brought everything but the kitchen sink from home because of a previous review mentioning that the home is not stocked well. It was unnecessary. We thought the home had everything we needed to cook with. I think if you enjoy doing any of the following then bring board games, cards, bocce balls, tennis racquets, basketball, beach chairs, beach towels, etc., otherwise, everything else is provided for. The views of the ocean in person are just as incredible if not more than they are in the photos. We enjoyed using the community hot tub, heated pool, and bocce ball court. Kids boogie boarded in ocean with wet suits on. There is also a really nice gas BBQ grill on the enclosed patio in front.
