Belle et grande maison architecturale nichée dans la forêt de montagne Siskiyou / Cascade du sud de l'Oregon. À environ 15 minutes du centre-ville d'Ashland, à 20 minutes du mont. Ashland Ski Area, et à cinq minutes à pied de Pacific Crest Trail. Cette maison est la parfaite escapade calme et sereine: assez proche d'Ashland pour être pratique, mais complètement isolée et privée. Les caractéristiques comprennent un garage, une cuisine entièrement équipée et une salle à manger (formelle et informelle), deux salons, une grande véranda et un ofuro donnant sur la forêt, un sauna saisonnier et des sentiers pédestres.

L'espace
La propriété est située sur le sommet Siskiyou, juste au sud d'Ashland. Les quarante hectares de forêt (non exploités) sont le site de la vieille route historique des wagons (et des premières automobiles), maintenant notre allée, traversant le sommet de l'Oregon à la Californie. C'est notre maison familiale depuis 1982, et nous prenons soin de cette terre paisible depuis. Nous faisons partie de la voie de migration des oiseaux et notre forêt abrite des milliers d'oiseaux. Les animaux sont principalement des cerfs, des écureuils et des renards. Sur la propriété, il y a trois maisons (la maison en rondins, la grande maison et la maison de l'étang), toutes assez éloignées les unes des autres pour être privées et isolées.
Nous vivons en permanence sur la propriété avec nos chiens, Kellen et Wilfred, dans le Pond House. Nous aimons rencontrer des gens et serons disponibles si vous avez besoin de quelque chose pendant votre séjour, mais à part cela, vous aurez une intimité totale. La maison en rondins sera également louée à certains moments, mais dispose d'une allée, d'un parking et d'une entrée séparés et n'affectera aucun aspect de votre séjour dans la grande maison. La maison a une entrée de clavier pour que vous puissiez vous enregistrer même si nous ne sommes pas à la maison à votre arrivée. La porte de garage a également un clavier. Le chauffage central et la climatisation sont réglables à votre confort. De nombreux clients aiment profiter du feu dans les matins et les soirées du poêle à bois. Tous les détails pour se rendre à la maison, entrer dans la maison, utiliser le wifi, les règles de la maison et tout le reste seront à votre disposition lors de la réservation dans une section d'itinéraire détaillée.

Vous aurez accès à la grande maison, au sauna saisonnier, au kiosque, à l'étang et à l'ensemble de la propriété.

Autres choses à noter
Nos deux chiens, un Mc Nab et un pointeur allemand à poil court sont tous deux très sympathiques. Si vous vous sentez mal à l'aise avec des chiens, veuillez nous en informer et nous pourrons nous adapter à vous.
Veuillez également noter que le sauna est facilement accessible pendant les saisons de sauna. C'est un supplément de 25 $ pour un sauna. Faites-le moi savoir ce jour-là et nous vous aiderons à le faire démarrer.

The home is absolutely beautiful. Clean. Welcoming. Micheline is charming and very welcoming as is Keller her dog. Sauna was fabulous, living room cozy with a warming fire, kitchen well stocked. All in all absolutely terrific.

We had the absolute best time! The home was beautiful, clean, and had a cozy mountain ambiance with the surrounding forest. Check-out procedures were incredibly easy and didn’t pressure guests to the degree of other stays I’ve had. We mainly explored the surrounding areas and went to a lot of parks and hiking trails, so we weren’t in the home a lot but it provided a much needed rest and relaxation in the evening! The kitchen was well stocked with any and all cooking materials, the showers ran hot, and the beds were very comfortable. Due to the brevity of our trip, we wanted to maximize sightseeing so we unfortunately did not get to meet Micheline in person. Regardless, by far one of the most welcoming hosts! Kept in contact, gave recommendations when asked, and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our time. I would give this stay double the maximum allowed score if possible! Thank you

Great stay

A lovely place to have a getaway or staycation, we enjoyed the peaceful, snowy forest, snowshoeing to nearby PCT, and taking a wood-fired sauna. Accommodations and host are superb.

Mich was a wonderful hostess. She offered to help and made us feel right at home. The cabin was clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed. We had things planned for every day but we returned each evening to a comfortable welcoming place to stay. Thank you!

Wonderful stay, excellent host!

If you find yourself yearning for a mountain hideaway adventure. You cannot miss Micheline’s chalet on old 99 by the Pacific crest trail. This property and our trip was amazing. My family of 7 celebrated our father’s 80th birthday on the property. We created unforgettable culinary experiences thanks to how thoughtful the kitchen was designed. Went on short nature hikes to the pond and jaunts to the pacific crest trail. Loved that we were a quick 15-min drive from Ashland, enjoyed a Shakespeare play and many adventures in town but relished our return to the relaxing chalet in the evenings. Stop scrolling for other places, trust me there is something magical about this home.

Retreat near Ashland

My wife and I had a relaxing stay at Micheline's house near Mt Ashland. The house was very clean and comfortable. The location was great for hiking on the PCT and close enough to Ashland to pop in for dinner. We enjoyed afternoons in the sun room and took advantage of the well-appointed kitchen and gas bbq for a few dinners. Micheline was great to work with and she provided a number of good recommendations for our hikes and winery visits. A very enjoyable stay.

Hi, I'm Micheline. At present, I spend my time caring for this piece of mountain land and its three homes that my two sons and extended family love so well.
I love long backpacking trips, hiking, skiing, reading, friends and a good conversation. I've been co-director of Stillpoint Foundation (with Gia-fu Feng), cultural anthropologist, teacher/assoc. professor, and landscaper/horticulturalist.
I look forward to getting to know you!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Our parents bought this Oregon property in 1981. They wanted to return to their home state for retirement, having grown up in Portland and being descendants of generations of our family making their homes and founding towns in Oregon. We are hoping that by sharing two of the homes on the property as vacation and retreat rentals, we will be able to keep this family homestead for more generations to come.

This home was designed by my parents, Dan and Jen Wessler, and built by Steve Snure and crew in 1985. The log house was built by myself and my now ex-husband Christian Burchard. The pond house was built by my sister and her husband. The homestead quickly became a gathering place for many friends and family throughout the years.

In truth, the land is far more important than the homes we built on it. It is part of the Klamath Knot, which is the only place in North America where four mountain ranges converge and one of the few places on the continent with such immense biological diversity. It is a crossing place not only of mountains and plants and trees, but also for many birds and animals. In spring the forest is a cacophony of bird songs from thousands of birds happy to return. Many Native American tribes used this crossing place on their way to and from the healing waters of the upper Rogue Valley. White settlers followed their trail as they too crossed over this pass, until it became a stage road, then an automobile road. The remnant of this road is our driveway. On the path to the southern viewpoint, one can see the shell of a very old automobile and the remains of the four-seater outhouse, the roundabout and spring that were part of the stopover here at the top of the pass.

So now, we continue to take care of this small piece of land, help the forest be healthy, and it gives us a beautiful place to live and share.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Walk right down the grassy path a few minutes and be on a beautiful section of the Pacific Crest Trail. Perfect for hiking and trail running (and skiing and snowshoeing in winter), it rises gradually through forest and meadow to the top of a ridge with views of the western mountain ranges, and eventually to Pilot Rock. And it's right outside the front door!

Because we are right on the summit, on the western side of the land one can find great places to watch the sun go down behind the Marble Mountains and the Trinity Alps. One can sit on the deck, work on your laptop and watch the birds. Or sit in the sun room looking out through the trees, with a cup of tea and a good book. (Perhaps even better, soak in the two person ofuro hot tub and watch the moon and stars). It is as if one were in a glass enclosed tree house in the middle of a forest of huge old trees. Or sleep on the futon there and watch the night sky, be wakened by the sun. Walk out along our road to watch the sun setting behind the distant mountain ranges.
Come home from a day out on the snow and hop into a hot cedar sauna. Listen to the low roar of the fire. Run out to cool down in the snow on the sauna house deck, moonlight making it sparkle.

We are lucky to have very good water coming from our well. Nothing is above us, so the water comes up pure and delicious tasting. If you fill the ofuro hot tub, the water will be a very light blue, like spring water.

A short 20 minute drive brings one to the top of Mt. Ashland, great hiking, skiing and snowboarding, mountain biking as well. In spring and summer there is an explosion of wildflowers. Another short drive in to town brings all the choices of entertainment, great restaurants, music and theatre. Gather with family and friends for a special time together, spending time in the outdoors and enjoying what Ashland has to offer. Or completely take a break from town and city life and immerse yourself in nature for awhile.
