Wonderful spot; an easy walk to the beach; charming little town. Great bookstore. The private garden was a perfect place to chill and in my case, work.
This was a lovely, relaxing stay in a tranquil spot. The garden/patio area, particularly, was a real delight. The property was pet friendly and my small dog loved it (and its proximity to a great dog beach). Very highly recommended.
We loved our stay. The town is charming and has lots of character. The fruit stand across the street is delicious and added to the small town feel of our stay. Conveniently located between Santa Barbara and Ventura, but nestled away from the crowds.
Leslie was a gracious host and made us feel comfortable and welcome throughout our entire stay. The location was wonderful and we enjoyed the enclosed patio many times during the week. Close enough for quick trips to monticeto, Santa Barbara and los olivos.
We loved this place in Summerland. The garden area was as advertised, and made for a very pleasant office away from home. We were a close walk to a nice beach and a short drive to downtown Santa Barbara. Plenty of shopping close by, including a great wine tasting room next door.
We'd absolutely stay here again.
Just perfect! The cottage is cozy, clean and comfortable, and the garden is spectacular. It's very private and a fantastic location. Leslie is a wonderful host and made sure I had everything I needed. Looking forward to a return visit in the future!
Great place and a great location. It is only for two people and my wife and I enjoyed it immensely. Restaurants are very close and every thing is in walking distance. However, you can drive into Santa Barbara if you want. Also a great place to take off on your bike if you would like to do that, also.
To begin, Leslie is great and made the check in easy and we felt very welcomed. The garden is really great, we spent some time reading, eating and relaxing there.
It was very easy to get to the beach and to move to other areas around, even if summerland is such a small area.
The apartment is simple, we didn't cook but it seemed to have enough kitchen gear to do the necessary even though it didn't have any oil/spices and some other things that would be nice. The only down of the place is the road noise, unfortunately it is non stop.
The garden was spacious, the apartment clean and bright. But too small for two elders.
The highway traffic and Amtrak train noises were cumbersome, otherwise it's a great place, for one.
Absolutely beautiful cottage, in a wonderful location. It Has everything you could possibly need, plenty of space, immaculately clean. A real home from home. Plenty of bars, restaurants and activities nearby. And the garden is spectacular! Leslie is the perfect host. as a woman travelling alone I felt very secure within the property as itâs so private. I wouldnât hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay
This is a quaint little cottage on the main drag in Summerland. It is private although you will hear street noise. That did not bother us. You can walk to the local restaurants and farm stand the owner has across the street. It's 10 minutes from Carpenteria which has grocery stores and more local restaurants.
The pictures are fairly accurate - it's a little more worn for the wear than the photos suggest but not that bad. It's well equipped for making breakfast and lunch. The deck has lots of space and is nice for relaxing. It's just right for 2 people but not more. We would stay here again!
My husband and I stayed at this lovely cottage for 16 nights in February. We love the beach in the winter and the private garden is so pleasant to sit in. You can get to downtown Santa Barbara in about 10 - 15 minutes depending on traffic so we took advantage of the great restaurants and theater while we were here. Leslie was very friendly and took care of any problems we had very quickly. The WiFi is great but the TV only played streaming Netflix, which was OK with us. The kitchen works for breakfasts and even some simple dinners, we like to cook. Overall we were very happy with our choice.
Awkward layout and very small rooms; no cross ventilation; no temperature control; extremely low ceilings; awkward and extremely small bathroom; no exhaust hood in Kitchen and oven door does not close; no fire and smoke safety devices; no cable TV--poor working Netflix only, no other channels. The garden/patio was very nice. The Owner was very friendly and informative.
We had a lovely 12 days in this beautiful cottage in Summerland. The garden is as beautiful as it shows online. The bed is super comfortable! And we found the kitchen and furnishings charming and just to our taste.
Leslie the owner is wonderful and gets right back with every need.
.
Itâs small and that suits us. We felt totally private in the cottage. Every single thing in this cottage is well considered and beautifully placed.
Everything in this area has some road noise from Highway 101 so thatâs a good thing to be aware of. It didnât bother us and we quickly adjusted and fully enjoyed the beauty of the garden. we never watched TV so cannot comment on that.
A really lovely stay!
We had a wonderful time in Summerland. This lower level apartment was very nicely done and in a great location. It was a small space, but very well appointed and comfortable.. The garden was beautiful and large and a nice place to sit and have meals. The beaches were a short walk or drive away depending on which beach you wanted to go to as well as you could walk to different places to have coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner! You can hear the highway 101 but that seems to be the norm in Summerland. We kept the windows closed and the fan on at night and we didn't hear the highway. It's a perfect getaway for two and your dog if you have one. Leslie the owner couldn't be nicer and very helpful and gave us a few of her chicken and quail eggs! Which were delicious by the way! We loved our stay and would definitely come back!
Although the apartment is small, it is perfect for two people. My niece and I never felt cramped. The kitchen works well and we made most of our meals in the apartment while on the trip. I brought my own stove top coffee maker, but there is a drip cone or one of the pod coffee machines. The fridge and oven are full sized. There are lots of plates and silverware, and spices. There were no oils or dressings, so bring your own. The bed was super comfortable. The garden is so lovely and is a great place to hang out. Although, the apartment was below the owner's house, we never heard any noise from the main house. You can hear the highway and the train, not loud, but if you are sensitive to noise at night you may want earplugs. The owner was super helpful and always responded quickly. The apartment is a very short distance from a lovely beach. I wish there was a barbeque. There is no designated parking and usually we were able to park right in front of the house, but occasionally the spots were full and we had to park further away. Once I had about a 4 block walk from where I could park. I would 100% stay here again.
My partner and I enjoyed our stay. The host, Leslie, is a superb communicator and very helpful i.e. restaurants and locations to visit. The cottage is conveniently located near walkable shops, restaurants and the beach. It is clean and the bed is comfortable. The patio garden is peaceful and private. We enjoyed our stay, and we will definitely return.
I wanted a safe place to raise my three children and I found it in Summerland. We couldn't believe how wonderful the beach is, the small school of less than 80 children and how the kids would stop on their way home for lemonade and cookies. Palm Cottage beach house that was one of the original homes in Summerland. We have taken pride in making this up to date with modern necessities yet homey and beachy while making this community our home. Palm Cottage is a way of life: simple and beach oriented in a wonderful community.
A short walk to the beach. Buying a house downtown in the commercial district was perfect for us. At night it is like you don't have neighbors-everything is closed. The house stretches from one block to another and it gives us two private yard for sunbathing or just having morning coffee outside. It is close to everything. 3 blocks to the beach and for antiquing, 3 to a fabulous facial or massage, or mani-pedi. The yard is tropical and wonderful. The cottage has been newly painted and there is new kitchen cabinet and top, new lighting and flooring. It is simple and safe. Private and convenient. The yard says it all...relaxing!
Palm Cottage environs is in a safe community. We relax outside for breakfast in the garden, enjoy coffee on the deck and wake up to a tropical garden view! We take our kayaks to the private end of the beach and launch right into the ocean. The house is old and charming but well maintained. Close to everything and away as well!
