Couldn't ask for a better location, set back off the road, quiet, and what a view! The cottage was perfect, had everything needed, and waking up to water out your window, wonderful.
Linda was a pleasure, nice to have an easy going property manager. Plan on going again next year.
The moment we pulled in the car to the driveway and saw the property, we knew it was going to be special. The view is amazing, the house is gorgeous and yet has real personality and charm, rather than looking like a contractor had defaulted to bland and neutral. The paintings on the wall are gorgeous, the fact the whole feel is relaxed, honest and personable put us all at ease. My 3 year old was in heave. My Italian Greyhound immediately felt at home. And the owner is a truly special person. I know that this trip will be one my family will always remember. Thank you
My husband and I stayed in this cottage on our first trip to Cape Cod as part of a month-long retirement trip. We just loved our stay in this cottage! The property is situated on a bluff overlooking a huge tidal creek. Views were just awesome, and watching the tidal changes was a daily treat - the "creek" empties out almost entirely at low tide, exposing an aquafarming section (fascinating), and at high tide provides outstanding opportunities for kayaking. There were ample places to sit and enjoy the views including the front porch. Access to the water & kayaks was via a very well constructed stairs designed to minimize steepness. Sunsets were spectacular!
The cottage was perfect for us: the kitchen was modest, but gave us all that we needed; the bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. (I will say that although we are in our early 60's and did fine, there is no bathroom on the 2nd floor, so be aware of that). We woke up every morning to the beautiful view through the large window in the front bedroom. Downstairs also comfortable, though we spent most of our time, including meals, on the porch where you might see a sudden drama of squirrels escaping a hawk, lots of chipmunks, and wild turkeys stroll up over the bluff and stop in the yard to eat.
Nearby Wellfleet is not a big tourist-y looking town, and it has lots of charm. It is on a harbor and there are picturesque places all around, "Uncle Timothy's bridge" over a small tidal creek, the pier to the harbor, lovely beaches, ponds to swim in (when it was too windy on the beach) little "main street" theatreand lots of places to eat good food around the area. Within 20-30 minutes, you can drive to the National Park, Truro and Provincetown; the Audubon Sanctuary is right in Wellfleet. To us, this property was perfectly situated. We had a spectacular whale watching cruise out of P-town. At beaches near Wellfleet, seals were abundant at high tide and came very close to shore for great viewing.
One of the BEST parts of our stay was getting to know the owner whose house was also on the property. Linda was a friendly, terrific host who will give you privacy as well as being receptive to you sitting with her and hearing the history of her family and the property. We enjoyed her friendship and humor tremendously! Just can't say enough about how getting to know Linda enhanced the enjoyment of our stay. Can't imagine why we'd stay anywhere else on Cape Cod and only wish we had planned to stay longer.
