This is our 7th straight year to spend a family vacation at Sunset Haven. Each year we find the accommodations spotlessly clean. The property has a large side yard that's great for family games, and a wonderfully treed shoreline perfect for lounging in the sun or the shade. Thanks to Chris for his warm welcomes. Welove spending our week at Sunset Haven.
Old home, lots of character, needs updating tho in the bathrooms. Only working shower is in master. Washing machine was broken so we had to go to town to do laundry. Kitchen had ant infestation howâre in the country this wouldnât be unexpected. The front living room was wonderful!!â The view was fabulous! A bit pricey for what it was. Owner is lovely!
We have spent our summer vacation at Sunset Haven for several summers. We always enjoy our week there. Chris makes sure that everything is ready for us. We love the space, the lake at our doorsteps, the fire pit and the camp itself. It never disappoints us. We are looking forward to our Beach Week 2024. Thank you, Chris
Every year we say 'this is the best year yet at Sunset Haven'. We couldn't ask for a more relaxing week. Chris always sees to it that everything is spotless and ready for our arrival. We look forward to another week at Sunset Haven next summer.
This house is in the perfect location, has a nice yard, and beautiful view of the lake and sunset. However; the house is older with many of the rooms having worn down carpet and very creaky floors. BUT the reason that I will not return to this house is because of all of the SPIDERS!! I would recommend that the owner get an exterminator to treat the inside as well as the outside of the house. The amount of spiders made it very difficult to relax in the house and almost impossible to get a good nightâs sleep. With that being said, Chris was very nice to work with so if spiders do not bother you, I would recommend renting his home.
As in the past, our annual Beach Week was just as we had hoped it would be. In spite of the weather, we had a very exciting view of the spectacular thunder storm that came across the lake , and on Friday the big waves on the were a lot of fun for everyone. As usual, Chris made sure everything was ready for us to have another terrific week.
Atmosphere and location was awesome. I would give it 3.5 stars. House was clean. Owner was responsive. Access to the lake was spot on. Great amenities. Big issue was no air conditioning. While it was a mild week, the house was still warm. We enjoyed our stay over all.
We enjoyed our stay at Sunset Haven. We were worried about having no AC but there were a ton of fans (like, a lot). There was also a nice breeze with the windows open most nights. The house is close to the main village and I think that would be nice for families or groups with kids. We enjoyed that there were kayaks at the house, as well as all the kitchen tools we would need, a grill and fire pit. We enjoyed the lake and dock quite a lot. Wifi was strong. We also were happy to see that the TV had Roku so we could login and watch our apps. It was a very relaxing week and I wish we could have stayed longer.
With that said, I canât leave out that there were an extensive amount of spiders and cobwebs. Understand that the house is on a lake in the middle of summer but ideally that would have been a bit more taken care of. One room had 7+ spiders/webs so if youâre squeamish you might want to double check that those are taken care of ahead of your stay.
Chris was very communicative and responded quickly.
This is our 3rd summer at Sunset Haven. We hesitated on going because of the virus, but Chris assured us that the camp would be ready for our visit. As usual, we found the camp immaculate and had a wonderful week. The weather was perfect, the lake was great and the camp felt like home. We are all looking forward to Beach Week 2021. Thank you, Chris.
Breathtaking view, spacious, great family vacation place
Our family (2adults, 2 teenagers) spent 2 weeks at Oneida lake. One week was still working remotely while kids enjoyed the shallow water to play water games or go kajaking or ride the bicycle in the neighborhood. The location is great, a little outside the Sylvan beach centre (off the crowds) but still easy accessible. We mostly cooked at home - easy with the well equipped kitchen and grill outside, and got some wonderful pies at Eddies!
The movable picnic table outside was our breakfast, lunch and dinner spot, always moving either into shade or sun, depending the time of the day. Also relaxed with a book on the lawn chairs, or enjoyed some badminton on the lawn. The inside is comfortable as well with all the recliners - and the screened in porch was very helpful at night. As others mentionned, there is no AC but if closing windows and shades/ curtains early in the morning it can be managed. One thing to mention which could be disturbing to some, route 13 is relatively close and the traffic is noticable, especially with open windows in summer.
We actually all brought our instruments to practice (guitar, flute, saxophone) and it was a great thing to have a piano on top of it to play,
All in all a great time, wonderful sunsets and beautiful area to explore around Oneida lake (according to my husband also great for back country bicycle rides) - oh and did I mention Erie canal and green lakes hiking/swimming?
This was our 2nd year at Sunset Haven, and we couldn't have had a better time. Even with a few thunder storms in the area,, they only made great waves on the water for the kids to play in. Chris was very gracious and was there to help anytime he was needed. We hope to spend our "Beach Week" vacation at Sunset Haven again in 2020! Great fun, great campfires, great memories.
We had a great time. Chris was wonderful and very helpful. Beautiful view, and nice to see nature. Got good pics of some eagles. The house was great. Just wish had air conditioning. We would come back. Pat B.
Sunset Haven is an accurate description for this property
We enjoyed the home, yard, lake and amenities included very much. All the comforts of home with amazing sunsets!! The owner Paul was very hospitable.
The only negative was no A/C but there were plenty of fans.
Our family has always spent our week at Sylvan Beach close to the center of town and in a camp right on the public beach. This year we stayed at Sunset Haven. The difference was amazing. We had the most relaxing and peaceful vacation in many years. We loved the shaded yard, which allowed us to enjoy so many family games, the fire pit, which we used every night, and especially the lakefront camp itself which was large and comfortable. Chris, the owner, was most gracious and helpful in every way. We had a great time!
We had an excellent week the first week in July. The weather was hot and dry for the most part. My grand children had a ball swimming in the shallow sandy water. The only negative is that there was no air conditioning anywhere in the home. We had some pretty hot days and nights and sleeping comfortably was a problem. Fans just weren't enough. We were able to anchor our pontoon boat right in front of the house. We watched fireworks every night from all around the lake. I recommend this home as long as the forecast doesn't call for 90+ degrees all week.
Choose this site for a "girls get away". Of course the girls were all 58 ish, and we had a ball. The home has luxury and comfort. The owner thought of all the "little things" like soap shampoos, even flowers when we first arrived! It's roomy, comfortable, new appliances fridge and stove too and all utensils you will ever need! The view is breathtaking and it is very quiet and relaxing away from noise of sylvan yet close enough to walk. The water is shallow in front of the house which is great for kids or old ladies like us, but it would be a long walk out to get to deep swim water. The second shower is small but definately doable and the washer and dryer awesome... He even left beach chairs and beach towels for us to use! Great place highly reccomend...
I highly recommend this property. It handled 6 adults and 4 children with ease. Nice dock for easy access to the lake, plenty of outside seating and our favorite was the firepit. Sylvan beach offered many child friendly activities but went unused by us. All the kids wanted to do was swim, play croquet, and roast marshmallows. It was a very memorable stay and the owner couldn't have provided a more well appointed home.

I have been the owner of this Lakefront Home for forty years. I have enjoyed not only the summer months but all the seasons and beauty that the lake and surrounding area has to offer.
You will find this property exceptional in size and value. It includes a master bedroom with private bath on the first floor making it very easy for older adults to enjoy while not having to worry about climbing stairs to a second floor! Four bedrooms are available on the second floor including a large bedroom with two Queen size beds, sliding glass door and a cat walk along with an iron circular staircase facing the lakefront. The remaining three bedrooms are also very nice size. Three of the four bedrooms have custom built in drawers with closets. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds and the third has a single bed.
Sunset Haven is a beautiful, spacious lake front home that includes a large living room, dining room, sunroom, large eat-in kitchen/family room along with five bedrooms and two bathrooms! The master bedroom with king size bed is located on the first floor with its own bathroom! The home is located near the hustle and bustle of the Amusement Park and restaurants yet far enough away to make the home and property more pleasant and private for family and friends! Sunset Haven has 80 feet of lakefront which is twice the amount that most lakefront "camps" offer throughout the Sylvan Beach area!! Sunset Haven offers a 40' X 100' yard on the side of the house which is a wonderful place for children and adults to play! The lake is sandy and shallow making it fun and safer for younger children to enjoy!! The home is located approximately 3/4 mile from the famous Amusement Park and numerous restaurants!!
