The Portal - Glamping with Splitrock Valley Views
The Portal at Splitrock Farm & Retreat
Tucked beside the iconic Split Rock and a seasonal creek, The Portal offers a peaceful, off-grid glamping escape in a spacious canvas wall tent with a cozy queen bed. Surrounded by the natural beauty of 101 scenic acres, guests enjoy sweeping views of the Pacific horizon, Big Bear, and access to miles of walking and biking trails - including the siteâs own Splitrock 5K loop.
Just 3 miles away, the Santa Margarita River Trail Preserve offers even more outdoor adventure. As one of the last free-flowing wild rivers in Southern California, this state-managed trail system â voted the #1 trail in San Diego County â is home to golden beavers, native wildlife, and the southernmost population of steelhead trout.
Inside The Portal, youâll find:
Queen-Sized Bed â Complete with soft linens and plush pillows for a restful nightâs sleep
Loveseat & Blanket â A cozy place to relax, read, or take in the views
Full-Length Mirror â A thoughtful touch for getting ready
Rustic Wooden Coffee Station â Includes storage space and a French press for your morning ritualâjust bring your own coffee and grounds
Solar Powered Lighting â Offers ambient lighting for evenings
Clothes Rack with Hangers â Keeps your things tidy
Shelf with Towels â Fresh towels provided for your stay
This glamping unit is off-grid and does not have standard electrical outlets. A solar-powered system provides ambient light; we recommend bringing portable chargers for any electronics. Guests may also charge their electronics in the communal area. Each of our glamping units have their own private firepits.
Step outside onto your private deck with a bistro table and chairs, perfect for enjoying a quiet sunrise or an evening under the stars.
At the Oak Grove Communal Area, guests have access to games, fire pits, and an outdoor kitchen space. The Camp Shop, located in the Oak Grove shipping container, is open on weekends and stocked with basics like firewood, snacks, and bug spray.
Whether you're hiking nearby trails, relaxing under the oaks, or exploring local gems like the Santa Rosa Plateau or Temeculaâs wine country, Splitrock Farm & Retreat is a place to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with nature.

Vous ĂȘtes reçu par Branch Out Glamping
Ben started life in small town Texas, spending most free time building forts in the desert before his family moved to Costa Mesa, CA in 1987. Ben instantly fell in love with the ocean and all the best natural features of Southern California, always at the beach, building BMX jumps in the bluffs, or camping (esp. Joshua Tree). Ben's connection with nature and outdoor recreation was rooted early.
Despite remarkable career shifts from athletics (playing and coaching) to business (MBA and consulting) to academia (PhD and professor), Benâs connection with nature drove him to create his own recreation and wellness retreat. Vetted through traveling to 72 countries and residing on 3 continents, overlanding 2,000+ mile treks across 5 continents, Ben experienced, lived, played, fed, and meditated with amazing people in the most amazing landscapes on earth. A global search ended with finding the perfect outdoor recreation and wellness paradise a mere 20 miles as the bird flies from his childhood home.
Benâs experiences and connections taught him to value lifelong learning, exploration, fitness of the mind, body, and spirit, outdoor recreation, and triple bottom line (people-planet-profit) sustainability. These values bleed into Splitrock Farm and Retreat through Benâs vision and hard work, where youâll mostly find him building forts in paradise.
