Welcome to your vacation paradise at this new luxury Poipu vacation rental at the beautiful Makahuena Resort. At Makahuena 2106, step into modern elegance as you enter this thoughtfully designed space, furnished with stylish and comfortable furniture, and equipped with everything you need for a perfect getaway. We loved the ocean view from the backyard and the pool was right there! Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We were steps away from beautiful sunsets, close to the beach and other amenities. We would stay there again!

Great location, was clean and safe. Community is beautifully managed. The place was close to the pool and had all the essentials for cooking and beach toys. Short walk to Brennecke and Poipu beach with great views of the ocean from the room.

Truly paradise found

Our stay was amazing. The hosts were lovely to engage with and the property is fantastic. The house is beautiful with great views, air flow, openness and comfort. We didn’t want to leave and will certainly be back. It’s the perfect home base for exploring the island.

Very nice condo, Beds and living space are clean and comfortable. Kitchen well stocked except it could have had more cooking utensils. Condo is conveniently located near local beaches and in a well kept complex.

Perfection!

This was an absolutely perfect stay! The rental had everything and more - chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, beach towels… incredible! The location on the island was perfect for us, and the location within the complex was incredible- huge ground-level lanai, closest unit to the pool, ocean view… all the things! Also decorated SO cute and such a comfy bed. Soft towels, big TV - would love to return!

Comfortable and great view - whales!

We loved our time at this condo. The protected lanai with table and chairs and a lovely view made for a great stay, even in the rain..The beds are comfortable. The kitchen had sufficient tableware and pans plus coffee and salt and pepper. We appreciated that the neighborhood was quiet and safe. We had one issue that didn't seem to get any response but we didn't pursue it.

Great location and comfortable stay

The area is beautiful and the unit has a good location and ocean view. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, nice pool and hot tub. Great walking path connecting nearby properties and the Hyatt, with wonderful ocean views. Unfortunately the washing machine didn’t work and we had a hard time getting a response from the property management company. Fortunately the housekeeping service stopped by and coordinated with the property manager to get a repair. Since the repair couldn’t occur until after we left, that was an amenity we had to do without.

We sincerely apologize for the out of commission washing machine; it's a brand new appliance still under warranty, but since there are no technicians on the island scheduling a repair was a bit of a headache. We've since replaced the washing machine completely, so future guests shouldn't face the same issue! The property dies not have air conditioning which was not disclosed in any of the listing materials. The property management reo and her manager were both rude and dismissive abd insisted the listing was accurate. It was 77 degrees in Poiou when we arrived. The unit is on the ground floor, making it impossible to have windows or doors open. We spent one miserable nught and then moved to a hotel property. This is thebfirst bad exoerience we've had with VRBO and we blame the management company and owner for this horrible and exoensive mistake.

Breezy south shore paradise

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a fantastic spot to stay for a few days while down south. I was expecting it to be hot with the lack of AC, but I was wrong. The condo caught the winds beautifully and stayed very pleasant inside, even during the hottest part of the day. The inside had clearly been updated recently, and was very tastefully done. Highly recommended for anyone staying on the south side of Kauai.

Perfect Stay in Poipu

We had a great time! Listing is accurate, had everything we could think of needing and more! Appreciated the beach towels and beach umbrellas as most places we have stayed do not have those for personal use! We were able to see whales breaching in the morning and many sea turtles swimming just off the property. The grounds of the complex are also well maintained and absolutely beautiful.Only thing that didn't meet our needs was the washing machine was broken during our stay. Had we known prior, I would have packed more clothes as we were relying on having that amenity! After contacting the reservations team, they gave us an appropriate refund for this inconvenience and supplied us with a few options on where to do our laundry on the island. I appreciated the communication and check ins throughout our stay. I would recommend this unit to friends and family.

Great Location!

This was a nice place to stay. The place was clean and as advertised. Great location! We were able to see dolphins and humpback whales right from the patio. Nice views of the sunset and lots of places to eat and shop nearby. However the management company was not very cooperative. We never received check in and out info, even after asking for it 3 times during our stay. So we showed up with no way to enter the property. We stayed 9 days and could have used a few more bath towels. I would have liked to do some laundry but the washing machine was broken. The internet is not the best. Had to reset the router at least a dozen times while we were there. Over all we had a great trip. I wasn't going to let these things affect our good times. We Loved Kauai!!

ZERO STARS!!! NIGHTMARE!

DO NOT STAY HERE! Terrible property management!! We had the most horrific nightmare of a stay. We had to vacate less than 24 hours after checking in after being BURGLARIZED here overnight. We did not receive any help from the owner after multiple calls to management and the emergency line. No answer until the next day. Finally, an agent offered reimbursement for our full stay if we left but we have never received it. Weeks later, the owner still has not returned our calls. The locks on window and back door were broken. On top of that, the bedsheets were not changed from the last stay. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Mahalo for the feedback Rene and Melissa. We take guest safety very seriously, and we sincerely apologize for your frightening experience. To address a few points: the bedsheets had not been changed from the last stay when you arrived because you attempted to check-in four and half hours early, and the cleaner had not even arrived to begin preparing the unit for your stay. Additionally, none of our staff, nor any of the complex staff, found anything wrong with the locks anywhere in the house. This includes all doors and windows. When asked for the appropriate documentation of the burglary (police reports, pictures, etc.), you were not able to provide us with anything, and we still refunded nearly your entire stay as a gesture of good faith. The only part of your payment that we kept was the cleaning fee, due to the excessive amounts of trash and empty alcohol containers you left in the unit after just 24 hours. We hope that your next vacation experience is far better than this one, and we regret that we will not be inviting you to stay with us again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Stayed here for a SCUBA trip with my kids. Clean. Comfortable Beds. No air conditioning but strong offshore winds kept the unit cool. If no wind, place gets hot (it’s tropical). Beds are excellent. Kitchen is well stocked. Small coffee maker (#4 cone - not supplied). 1 roll of paper towels and a pack of toilette paper. All needed bath and beach/pool towels provided.Excellent washer/drier. Bring laundry detergent pods. Bring kitchen washing machine pods too. Decent indoor insect control. Tiny visitors come and go, but no big problems. Fantastic location. Close to facility pool. Close to BBQ. Close to Koloa Landing and the Kukuiula Small Boat Harbor (SCUBA).Easy drive from the airport and to other locations. Lots of restaurants in Poipu and Koloa. Wifi is reliable. Beautiful landscaping. Some foot traffic in front of kitchen and smaller bedroom. Not a problem. We would stay here again. Really comfortable. Thanks for a great rental.
