We had 7 adults for a four night summer stay. This place is located in the middle of town. 5 minute walks to casinoâs, dinners, concerts and coffee. 20-30 minute drives to hiking, boating and golf. The accommodations are a little dated but comfortable, clean and very roomy. Communication leading up to the stay was great. We did not need to contact our host during our stay but I am sure they would have been responsive as everything else was great.
Disappointing and Unsafe Stay â Would Not RecommendWe recently stayed at the South Lake Tahoe Downtown Penthouse and had several issues that made our experience very disappointing.First, the property was not properly cleaned upon arrival. The balcony table and seating were extremely dirty and dusty â we had to clean it ourselves before using it. Even worse, the bedding had visible stains. It was clear the sheets had not been washed between guests, so we ended up doing laundry right after checking in, which is unacceptable for a rental at this price point. Our biggest concern, however, was the lack of security. On multiple occasions, uninvited individuals with keys entered the property. This made our entire group feel unsafe, and some of our guests were so uncomfortable that they left and booked another place to stay. Shockingly, several days after we had checked out, we returned out of curiosity and discovered our access code still worked. That clearly indicates they recycle the same code for all guests, which is a serious security risk.I cannot recommend this property, especially for families or anyone concerned about safety and cleanliness. There are many better-managed options in the area.
My family of 8 adults stayed in the townhouse. The Townhouse is in a perfect Location. Only a 5 min walk to gondola in ski boots. There are many Bar and Grill restaurants within easy walk. Highly recommend The Bistro Edgewood for an upscale eating experience. Casinos 5-10 minute walk. Plenty of shopping. The Townhouse has that ski lodge vibe. Lots of space for 8 people. Bedrooms and bathrooms very roomy. Highly recommend this Townhouse.
Great place if you want to be near casinos but do not want to stay in a hotel/casino. Comfortable beds and seating areas. Would definitely stay here again. Tip: bring earplugs bc nighttime partying and morning traffic can be loud.
Overall everything was as advertised. I donât think we could have gotten a better location. In town and steps to gondola and shuttles. We will definitely stay here again.
We had a great stay at the penthouse in South Lake Tahoe. Great location close to the gondola with great parking so we could easily travel out to other mountains during our visit. Well stocked kitchen for our stay and only downfall was the hot tub could have used some attention. We would bring chlorine tablets if we stayed again. Overall would recommend.

My husband and I took our boys and their friends; there were 7 of us total. The location was amazing and plenty big to house us all. We walked to the Gondola in 2 minutes and jumped right on the slopes for the day, so no need for a car or shuttle. There are plenty places to eat but food/drink prices are expensive so we opted to cook every night. That is 5 hungry 20 year old's and 2 parents. We needed LOTS of groceries. We Ubered to the Safeway and about 7 minutes away and purchased all we needed for our 5 night stay. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we could want. After dinners we relaxed in the hot tub and played all the games/ puzzles that were provided. My husband and I were able to sneak away two times and gamble at the casino and enjoy the St. Patricks Day festivities which were all walking distance. The Penthouse is a MUST if you ever ski Heavenly with a large group.

Great place and access to heavenly and resturants
I would like management to call me regarding hot tub not working two of the 4 days we were there
Great location right downtown! Only a minute walk from the penthouse to the gondola made getting on the mountain a breeze and we definitely enjoyed the hot tub time every night. The unit is beautiful and well appointed, especially loved that each bedroom has its own ensuite bath. We would definitely rent this property again.
We were looking for a place in the middle of all of the action. It doesnt get any better than this one. It overlooks the main area, right on the hwy 50. It was fun just to watch the people passing by from our balcony. Management was always very helpful and prompt. We'll be back.
I can not say enough about location... just around the corner from the Gondola and if that happens to be shut down due to wind.. you can walk out the door and hop on a bus to the California side.. the space and Privacy can't be beat... Oh, and don't forget to order food from the downstairs restaurant.. Delish and Convenient! :)

The location for skiing is closer than some rentals. Weâve had that advertise ski in and ski out. Youâre literally a few steps from the gondola that takes you up the place has four bedrooms with four en suite bathrooms which is fantastic for groups. Great common areas for groups to gather as well and the balcony was terrific. It wouldâve been nice if the patio furniture was out on the balcony for the week of sunshine we had so we didnât have to bring the dining room tables out there to sit.
Great Location...aside from street noise and smell
We loved this place except for a few things. 1) The master bedroom that is on the street can be loud at night. The music and street sounds can be heard until the wee hours of the night. 2) As you have red in previous reviews the smell from the restaurant below dose come up into the unit and you can see a haze in the unit at times. Also yes the elevator does smell bad! The carpet needs to be removed and put hard flooring down. This would make the elevator much easier to keep clean and to keep the smell out.
The general facility, and the location, we are perfect for our group of eight 60-year-old men.
A couple of notes on the facility:
1. The elevator code system is very inconsistent. 75% of the time the code would only get you to the third floor, where you would have to punch it in another one to five times to actually get to the fourth floor.
2. The upper room was extremely warm, as was the master bedroom right next to the kitchen. I know there's no air conditioning, but in the summer some fans to keep the air circulating in those rooms would be appropriate.
3. Some sort of a dolly, or hotel style "Bellman's Trolly" would help very much to get luggage, ice chests, etc. up to the penthouse from the parking lot.
4. If there is Wi-Fi, access code to that should be listed on the information left on the table just outside of the elevator, in the entry hall.
5. It would help for there to be some sort of instructions about how much cleanup is to be done before departing. Are beds to be stripped, dishes to be done, towels to be put in the washer, etc.?
6. BBQ lighting instructions should be posted out by the grill.
7. TV and sound system operating instructions should be posted at the AV station.
8. In the left side kitchen sink, the plug, or stopper, is somehow jammed in the drain. That needs to be repaired.
In any case, those are our observations. Again, in general, this was just what the doctor ordered for our group, and Katie Burke was a great help in making the whole experience work for us!!!
